< Luke 2 >

1 NOW it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that the whole land should be registered.
Awo olwatuuka mu biseera ebyo, Kayisaali Agusito n’ayisa etteeka abantu bonna beewandiisa.
2 (And this first enrolment was made by Cyrenius, afterwards governor of Syria)
Okubala kuno kwe kwasooka okubaawo ku mulembe gwa Kuleniyo nga ye gavana w’Obusuuli.
3 And all went to be registered, every one to his own city.
Bonna ne bagenda okwewandiisa, buli muntu mu kibuga ky’ewaabwe.
4 Then Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; because he was of the house and family of David;
Awo Yusufu n’ava e Nazaaleesi eky’e Ggaliraaya, n’agenda mu kibuga kya Dawudi ekiyitibwa Besirekemu eky’e Buyudaaya, kubanga yali wa mu kika kya Dawudi,
5 to be enregistered with Mary, the wife espoused to him, who was big with child.
yeewandiise ne Maliyamu eyali olubuto, oyo gwe yali ayogereza.
6 And it came to pass, while they were there, that her time was up, that she should be delivered.
Naye bwe baali bali eyo ekiseera kya Maliyamu eky’okuzaala ne kituuka.
7 And she brought forth a son, her first-born, and wrapped him in swaddling-clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
N’azaala omwana we omubereberye omulenzi, n’amubikka mu bugoye, n’amuzazika mu lutiba ente mwe ziriira, kubanga tebaafuna kifo mu nnyumba y’abagenyi.
8 And there were shepherds in that country abiding in the open air, and keeping guard over their flock by night.
Mu kiro ekyo waaliwo abasumba abaali mu kitundu ekyo kye kimu ku ttale nga bakuuma endiga zaabwe.
9 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were exceedingly affrighted.
Awo malayika wa Mukama n’abalabikira, ne waakaayakana n’ekitiibwa kya Mukama, ne batya nnyo.
10 And the angel said unto them, Be not affrighted: for, behold, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be for all the people.
Malayika n’abagumya nti, “Temutya, kubanga mbaleetedde amawulire amalungi ag’essanyu eringi, era nga ga bantu bonna.
11 Because this day there is born for you a Saviour, which is Messiah, the Lord, in the city of David.
Kubanga Omulokozi, ye Kristo Mukama waffe azaaliddwa leero mu kibuga kya Dawudi.
12 And this shall be a sign for you; Ye shall find the babe in swaddling-clothes, lying in a manger.
Ku kino kwe munaamutegeerera: Mujja kulaba omwana omuwere, ng’abikkiddwa mu ngoye, ng’azazikiddwa mu lutiba lw’ente.”
13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying,
Amangwago eggye lya bamalayika ab’omu ggulu ne beegatta ne malayika oyo ne batendereza Katonda nga bagamba nti,
14 Glory in the highest heavens to God! and upon earth, peace! towards men complacence.
“Ekitiibwa kibe eri Katonda Ali Waggulu ennyo. N’emirembe gibe mu nsi eri abantu Katonda b’asiima.”
15 And it came to pass, as the angels went from them into heaven, the men, the shepherds, said also to each other, Let us now go to Bethlehem, and see this thing which hath happened, which the Lord hath made known to us.
Awo bamalayika bwe baamala okuddayo mu ggulu, abasumba ne bateesa nti, “Tugende e Besirekemu tulabe kino ekibaddewo, Mukama ky’atutegeezezza.”
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe, lying in the manger:
Ne bayanguwa ne bagenda, ne balaba Maliyamu ne Yusufu, n’omwana omuwere ng’azazikiddwa mu lutiba lw’ente.
17 and when they saw it, they made a public report of the declaration delivered to them respecting this child.
Awo abasumba ne bategeeza bye baalabye, n’ebya bategeezeddwa ebikwata ku mwana oyo.
18 And all who heard it, marvelled at the things told them by the shepherds.
Bonna abaawulira ebigambo by’abasumba ne beewuunya nnyo.
19 But Mary carefully preserved all these declarations, laying them together in her heart, in order to apprehend their meaning.
Naye Maliyamu n’akuumanga ebigambo ebyo mu mutima gwe era ng’abirowoozaako nnyo.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things which they had heard and seen, exactly as had been told them.
Awo abasumba ne baddayo gye balundira ebisibo byabwe, nga bagulumiza era nga batendereza Katonda, olw’ebyo byonna bye baawulira era ne bye baalaba nga bwe baali bategeezeddwa.
21 And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising the child, his name also was called JESUS, the name imposed by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
Olunaku olw’omunaana olw’okukomolerwako bwe lwatuuka, n’atuumibwa erinnya Yesu, malayika lye yayogera nga Yesu tannaba kuba mu lubuto lwa nnyina.
22 And when the days of her purification were accomplished according to the law of Moses, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
Awo ekiseera bwe kyatuuka Maliyamu okugenda mu Yeekaalu atukuzibwe, ng’amateeka ga Musa bwe galagira ne batwala Yesu e Yerusaalemi okumuwaayo eri Mukama.
23 as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male child, that openeth the womb, shall be called holy to the Lord;
Kubanga mu mateeka ago, Katonda yalagira nti, “Omwana omubereberye bw’anaabanga omulenzi, anaaweebwangayo eri Mukama.”
24 and to offer a sacrifice, according to what is prescribed in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.
Era mu kiseera kye kimu bakadde ba Yesu ne bawaayo ssaddaaka amateeka nga bwe galagira okuwaayo amayiba abiri oba enjiibwa bbiri.
25 And, behold, there was a man at Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
Ku lunaku olwo, waaliwo omusajja erinnya lye Simyoni, eyabeeranga mu Yerusaalemi, nga mutuukirivu, ng’atya Katonda, era ng’ajjudde Mwoyo Mutukuvu, ng’alindirira okusanyusibwa kwa Isirayiri.
26 And it had been divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death, till he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.
Kubanga yali abikkuliddwa Mwoyo Mutukuvu nti tagenda kufa nga tannalaba ku Kristo, Omulokozi.
27 And he came by the spirit into the temple; just as the parents were bringing in the child Jesus, that they might do according to what was the custom of the law concerning him;
Mwoyo Mutukuvu n’amuluŋŋamya okujja mu Yeekaalu. Maliyamu ne Yusufu bwe baaleeta Omwana Yesu okumuwaayo eri Mukama ng’amateeka bwe galagira, ne Simyoni naye yaliwo.
28 and he took him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Simyoni n’ajja n’asitula Omwana mu mikono gye, n’atendereza Katonda ng’agamba nti,
29 Now dismiss thy servant, Lord, according to thy word, in peace;
“Mukama wange, kaakano osiibule omuweereza wo mirembe, ng’ekigambo kyo bwe kigamba.
30 for my eyes have seen thy salvation,
Kubanga amaaso gange galabye Obulokozi bwo,
31 which thou hast prepared before the face of all people.
bwe wateekateeka mu maaso g’abantu bonna,
32 A light to give revelation to the Gentiles, and glory to thy people Israel.
okuba Omusana ogw’okwakira amawanga. N’okuleetera abantu bo Abayisirayiri ekitiibwa!”
33 And Joseph and his mother were amazed at the things spoken concerning him.
Kitaawe w’omwana ne nnyina ne beewuunya ebigambo ebyayogerwa ku Yesu.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed for the fall, and rising again of many in Israel; and for a marked object to be spoken against;
Awo Simyoni n’abasabira omukisa. N’alyoka n’agamba Maliyamu nti, “Omwana ono bangi mu Isirayiri tebagenda kumukkiriza, era alireetera bangi okugwa n’abalala ne bayimusibwa.
35 (so shall a dart pierce through thy own soul) that the reasonings of many hearts may be laid open,
Era naawe ennaku eri ng’ekitala erikufumita omutima, n’ebirowoozo by’omu mitima gy’abantu birimanyibwa.”
36 And there was Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asser: she was far advanced in old age, having lived but seven years with a husband, from her virgin state:
Waaliwo nnabbi omukazi, ayitibwa Ana, muwala wa Fanweri, ow’omu kika kya Aseri, era nga mukadde nnyo, eyafumbirwa nga muwala muto n’amala ne bba emyaka musanvu gyokka, bba n’afa,
37 though she was now a widow, of about eighty-four years, who departed not from the temple, attending the divine service, with fastings and prayers night and day:
n’asigala nga nnamwandu. Mu kiseera kino yali yaakamala emyaka kinaana mu ena, era teyavanga mu Yeekaalu ng’asiiba n’okwegayiriranga Katonda emisana n’ekiro.
38 and at the very same moment coming up, she also in turn confessed the Lord, and spake of him to all who were expecting redemption in Jerusalem.
Awo Ana mu kiseera ekyo yali ayimiridde okumpi ne Maliyamu ne Yusufu, naye n’atandika okutendereza Katonda ng’amwogerako eri abo bonna abaali balindirira okununulibwa kwa Yerusaalemi.
39 And when they had finished all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, into their own city Nazareth.
Awo bakadde ba Yesu bwe baamala okutuukiriza byonna ng’amateeka ga Mukama bwe galagira, ne baddayo e Nazaaleesi eky’omu Ggaliraaya.
40 And the child grew, and became endued with great powers of spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him.
Omwana n’akula, n’aba w’amaanyi, n’ajjuzibwa amagezi n’ekisa kya Katonda kyali ku ye.
41 And his parents went annually to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.
Bakadde ba Yesu buli mwaka bagendanga mu Yerusaalemi ku Mbaga y’Okuyitako.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem, according to the custom of the feast.
Awo Yesu bwe yaweza emyaka kkumi n’ebiri egy’obukulu n’ayambuka e Yerusaalemi ne bakadde be ku mbaga, nga empisa yaabwe bwe yali.
43 And when they had concluded the days, as they were returning, the child Jesus remained at Jerusalem, and Joseph and his mother knew it not:
Awo embaga ng’ewedde, ne bakyusa okuddayo ewaabwe, naye omulenzi Yesu n’asigala mu Yerusaalemi, naye bazadde be ne batakimanya.
44 but supposing him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their relations and acquaintances;
Kubanga baalowooza nti ali ne bannaabwe mu kibiina ekirala, ekiro ekyo bwe bataamulaba, ne bamunoonya mu kibiina omwali baganda baabwe ne mikwano gyabwe.
45 and not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.
Bwe bataamulaba kwe kuddayo e Yerusaalemi nga bamunoonya.
46 And it came to pass after three days, they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them and asking them questions.
Awo nga baakamunoonyeza ennaku ssatu, ne bamusanga ng’atudde mu Yeekaalu n’abannyonnyozi b’amateeka ng’abawuliriza awamu n’okubabuuza ebibuuzo.
47 And all who heard him, were in a transport of admiration, at his understanding and answers.
Bonna abaali bamuwuliriza ne beewuunya nnyo olw’amagezi ge n’okuddamu kwe.
48 And when they saw him, they were struck with surprise; and his mother said to him, Son, why hast thou behaved to us in this manner? lo! thy father and I have been seeking thee in anguish of heart.
Awo bazadde be bwe baamulaba ne beewuunya nnyo, nnyina n’amugamba nti, “Mwana waffe otukoze ki kino? Kitaawo nange tweraliikiridde nnyo nga tukunoonya!”
49 And he said unto them, Wherefore did ye seek me? did you not know, that I must be occupied with my Father’s affairs?
Yesu n’abaddamu nti, “Mubadde munnoonyeza ki? Temwategedde nga kiŋŋwanidde okukola ebintu bya Kitange?”
50 And they understood not the meaning of what he spake to them.
Naye ne batategeera bigambo ebyo bye yabagamba.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was in subjection to them: though his mother preserved all these sayings in her heart.
N’asituka n’agenda nabo e Nazaaleesi, n’abagonderanga; kyokka nnyina ebigambo ebyo byonna n’abikuuma mu mutima gwe.
52 And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.
Awo Yesu n’akula mu mubiri, mu magezi, era n’alaba ekisa mu maaso ga Katonda ne mu maaso g’abantu.
