John 16
1 THESE things have I spoken, that ye might not be stumbled.
Näitä olen minä puhunut teille, ette pahenisi.
2 They will put you out of their synagogues: yea, the hour is coming, that every one who killeth you will think he offers God a sacred service.
He panevat teitä pannaan. Ja aika tulee, että jokainen, joka teidät tappaa, se luulee tekevänsä Jumalalle palveluksen.
3 And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
Ja näitä he tekevät teille, ettei he tunne Isää eikä minua.
4 But these things have I spoken to you, that when the hour is come, ye may remember the same for I had told you. But these things I told you not at the beginning, because I was with you.
Vaan minä puhuin näitä teille, että kuin se aika tulee, te niistä muistaisitte, että minä teille sanonut olen; mutta en minä ole teille näitä alusta sanonut, sillä minä olin teidän kanssanne.
5 But now I am going away to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither art thou going?
Mutta nyt minä menen sen tykö, joka minun lähetti, ja ei teistä minulta kenkään kysy: kuhunkas menet?
6 But because I have spoken these things to you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
Vaan että minä olen näitä teille puhunut, niin murhe täyttää teidän sydämenne.
7 Yet I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I went not away, the Comforter would not come to you; but if I go, I will send him unto you.
Kuitenkin sanon minä teille totuuden: se on teille tarpeellinen, että minä menen pois; sillä ellen minä mene pois, niin ei Lohduttaja tule teidän tykönne; mutta jos minä menen pois, niin minä hänen teille lähetän.
8 And when he cometh, he will convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment:
Ja kuin hän tulee, niin hän nuhtelee maailmaa synnin tähden, ja vanhurskauden tähden, ja tuomion tähden.
9 of sin first, because they believe not in me;
Synnin tähden tosin, ettei he usko minun päälleni;
10 then of righteousness, because I am going to the Father, so ye see me no more;
Mutta vanhurskauden tähden, että minä menen Isäni tykö, ja ettette minua silleen näe;
11 and of judgment, because the ruler of this world hath sentence pronounced on him.
Mutta tuomion tähden, että tämän maailman päämies on tuomittu.
12 I have many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them just now.
Minulla on vielä paljo sanomista, mutta ette voi nyt kantaa.
13 But when he is come, the Spirit of truth, he will conduct you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever things he shall hear, he shall speak: and he will declare to you the things that shall come hereafter.
Vaan kuin se tulee, totuuden Henki, hän johdattaa teitä kaikkeen totuuteen; sillä ei hän puhu itsestänsä, vaan mitä hän kuulee, sitä hän puhuu, ja tulevaisia hän teille ilmoittaa.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Hän on minua kunnioittava; sillä hän ottaa minun omastani ja ilmoittaa teille.
15 All things whatsoever the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
Kaikki, mitä Isällä on, ne ovat minun; sentähden minä sanoin, että hän ottaa minun omastani ja ilmoittaa teille.
16 A little while longer, and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father.
Vähän ajan perästä ja ette näe minua, ja taas vähän ajan perästä te näette minun; sillä minä menen Isäni tykö.
17 Then said some of the disciples unto each other, What is this which he saith to us, A little while longer, and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me: and this, because I am going to the Father?
Niin muutamat hänen opetuslapsistansa puhuivat keskenänsä: mikä se on, kuin hän sanoo meille: vähän ajan perästä ja ette näe minua, ja taas vähän ajan perästä ja te näette minun, ja: minä menen Isän tykö?
18 They said therefore, What is this which he saith, This little while? we know not what he means.
Niin he sanoivat: mikä se on, kuin hän sanoo: vähän ajan perästä? emme tiedä, mitä hän puhuu.
19 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Are ye questioning among yourselves concerning this declaration, which I spake, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
Niin Jesus ymmärsi, että he tahtoivat kysyä häneltä, ja sanoi heille: sitä te kysytte keskenänne, että minä sanoin: vähän ajan perästä ja ette näe minua, ja taas vähän ajan perästä ja te näette minun.
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be very sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Totisesti, totisesti sanon minä teille: teidän pitää itkemän ja parkuman, mutta maailma iloitsee: te tulette murheellisiksi, mutta teidän murheenne käännetään iloksi.
21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when the little son is born, she no more remembers the anguish, for joy that a man is brought into the world.
Kuin vaimo synnyttää, niin hänellä on kipu, sillä hänen hetkensä tuli; mutta kuin hän on lapsen synnyttänyt, niin ei hän enään muista vaivaansa ilon tähden, että ihminen on syntynyt maailmaan.
22 And ye therefore have indeed at present sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall be made glad, and your joy no man taketh from you.
Niin teillä on myös nyt murhe; mutta minä tahdon teitä jällensä nähdä, ja teidän sydämenne on iloitseva, ja ei kenenkään pidä teidän iloanne teiltä ottaman pois.
23 And in that hour ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, That whatsoever things ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give you.
Ja sinä päivänä ette mitään kysy minulta. Totisesti, totisesti sanon minä teille: mitä ikänä te anotte Isältä minun nimeeni, niin hän antaa teille.
24 Hitherto ye have asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be complete.
Ette ole mitään minun nimeeni tähän asti anoneet: rukoilkaat, niin te saatte, että teidän ilonne olis täydellinen.
25 These things have I spoken to you in parables: but the hour is coming when I will no more speak to you in parables, but will plainly inform you respecting the Father.
Näitä olen minä teille puhunut tapauksissa; mutta aika tulee, etten minä silleen puhu teille tapauksissa, vaan ilmoitan julkisesti teille minun Isästäni.
26 In that day ye shall ask in my name: and I do not say to you, I will entreat the Father for you:
Sinä päivänä pitää teidän rukoileman minun nimeeni. Ja en minä sano teille, että minä rukoilen Isää teidän tähtenne;
27 for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
Sillä Isä rakastaa itse teitä, että te minua rakastitte ja uskoitte minun Jumalasta lähteneen.
28 I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I am leaving the world, and going to the Father.
Minä läksin Isästä ja tulin maailmaan: taas minä jätän maailman ja menen Isän tykö.
29 His disciples said unto him, Lo! now thou speakest plainly, and speakest in no-wise proverbial.
Sanoivat hänen opetuslapsensa hänelle: katso, nyt sinä julkisesti puhut, ja et yhtään tapausta sano.
30 Now we know that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any person should ask thee: by this we believe that thou hast come forth from God.
Nyt me tiedämme sinun kaikki tietävän, ja et sinä tarvitse, että joku sinulta kysyy, sentähden me uskomme sinun Jumalasta lähteneen.
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
Jesus vastasi heitä: nyt te uskotte.
32 Behold, the hour is coming, yea, it is already come, that ye shall be dispersed, each after his own concerns, and shall leave me alone: though I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
Katso, aika tulee, ja nyt tuli, että te jokainen hajoitetaan omillensa, ja minun te yksinäni jätätte. En minä kuitenkaan yksinäni ole, sillä Isä on minun kanssani.
33 These things have I spoken to you, that ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good courage; I have overcome the world.
Näitä olen minä teille puhunut, että teillä minussa rauha olis. Maailmassa on teillä tuska; mutta olkaat hyvässä turvassa, minä voitin maailman.
