John 13
1 NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus, knowing that his hour was come, that he should go out of this world to the Father, having loved his peculiar people that are in the world, he loved them to the end.
निस्तारोत्सवस्य किञ्चित्कालात् पूर्व्वं पृथिव्याः पितुः समीपगमनस्य समयः सन्निकर्षोभूद् इति ज्ञात्वा यीशुराप्रथमाद् येषु जगत्प्रवासिष्वात्मीयलोकेष प्रेम करोति स्म तेषु शेषं यावत् प्रेम कृतवान्।
2 And supper being served, (the devil having now injected into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, that he should betray him; )
पिता तस्य हस्ते सर्व्वं समर्पितवान् स्वयम् ईश्वरस्य समीपाद् आगच्छद् ईश्वरस्य समीपं यास्यति च, सर्व्वाण्येतानि ज्ञात्वा रजन्यां भोजने सम्पूर्णे सति,
3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came out from God, and was going to God;
यदा शैतान् तं परहस्तेषु समर्पयितुं शिमोनः पुत्रस्य ईष्कारियोतियस्य यिहूदा अन्तःकरणे कुप्रवृत्तिं समार्पयत्,
4 he rises from supper, and lays aside his garments, and taking a towel, he wound it about himself.
तदा यीशु र्भोजनासनाद् उत्थाय गात्रवस्त्रं मोचयित्वा गात्रमार्जनवस्त्रं गृहीत्वा तेन स्वकटिम् अबध्नात्,
5 Then he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which he was begirt.
पश्चाद् एकपात्रे जलम् अभिषिच्य शिष्याणां पादान् प्रक्षाल्य तेन कटिबद्धगात्रमार्जनवाससा मार्ष्टुं प्रारभत।
6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and he saith to him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?
ततः शिमोन्पितरस्य समीपमागते स उक्तवान् हे प्रभो भवान् किं मम पादौ प्रक्षालयिष्यति?
7 Jesus answered and said to him, What I am doing thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.
यीशुरुदितवान् अहं यत् करोमि तत् सम्प्रति न जानासि किन्तु पश्चाज् ज्ञास्यसि।
8 Peter saith to him, Thou shalt never wash my feet: no, never. Jesus answered him, Except I wash thee, thou hast no part with me. (aiōn g165)
ततः पितरः कथितवान् भवान् कदापि मम पादौ न प्रक्षालयिष्यति। यीशुरकथयद् यदि त्वां न प्रक्षालये तर्हि मयि तव कोप्यंशो नास्ति। (aiōn g165)
9 Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head.
तदा शिमोन्पितरः कथितवान् हे प्रभो तर्हि केवलपादौ न, मम हस्तौ शिरश्च प्रक्षालयतु।
10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed hath need only to wash his feet, for he is entirely clean: and ye are clean, but not all.
ततो यीशुरवदद् यो जनो धौतस्तस्य सर्व्वाङ्गपरिष्कृतत्वात् पादौ विनान्याङ्गस्य प्रक्षालनापेक्षा नास्ति। यूयं परिष्कृता इति सत्यं किन्तु न सर्व्वे,
11 (For he knew who would betray him; therefore he said, Ye are not all clean.)
यतो यो जनस्तं परकरेषु समर्पयिष्यति तं स ज्ञातवान; अतएव यूयं सर्व्वे न परिष्कृता इमां कथां कथितवान्।
12 When therefore he had washed their feet, and taken his garments, and sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done unto you?
इत्थं यीशुस्तेषां पादान् प्रक्षाल्य वस्त्रं परिधायासने समुपविश्य कथितवान् अहं युष्मान् प्रति किं कर्म्माकार्षं जानीथ?
13 Ye call me Master, and Lord: and ye speak truly; for such I am.
यूयं मां गुरुं प्रभुञ्च वदथ तत् सत्यमेव वदथ यतोहं सएव भवामि।
14 If therefore I have washed your feet, though the Lord and the Master; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
यद्यहं प्रभु र्गुरुश्च सन् युष्माकं पादान् प्रक्षालितवान् तर्हि युष्माकमपि परस्परं पादप्रक्षालनम् उचितम्।
15 For I have given you an example, that just as I have done to you, ye should do also.
अहं युष्मान् प्रति यथा व्यवाहरं युष्मान् तथा व्यवहर्त्तुम् एकं पन्थानं दर्शितवान्।
16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his master; nor the messenger greater than him that sent him.
अहं युष्मानतियथार्थं वदामि, प्रभो र्दासो न महान् प्रेरकाच्च प्रेरितो न महान्।
17 If ye know these things, blessed are ye if ye practise them.
इमां कथां विदित्वा यदि तदनुसारतः कर्म्माणि कुरुथ तर्हि यूयं धन्या भविष्यथ।
18 I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me, hath lift up his heel against me.
सर्व्वेषु युष्मासु कथामिमां कथयामि इति न, ये मम मनोनीतास्तानहं जानामि, किन्तु मम भक्ष्याणि यो भुङ्क्ते मत्प्राणप्रातिकूल्यतः। उत्थापयति पादस्य मूलं स एष मानवः।यदेतद् धर्म्मपुस्तकस्य वचनं तदनुसारेणावश्यं घटिष्यते।
19 Now I tell you previously, before this comes to pass, that, when it cometh to pass, ye may believe that I am.
अहं स जन इत्यत्र यथा युष्माकं विश्वासो जायते तदर्थं एतादृशघटनात् पूर्व्वम् अहमिदानीं युष्मभ्यमकथयम्।
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I shall send, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
अहं युष्मानतीव यथार्थं वदामि, मया प्रेरितं जनं यो गृह्लाति स मामेव गृह्लाति यश्च मां गृह्लाति स मत्प्रेरकं गृह्लाति।
21 As Jesus was speaking these words, he was greatly agitated in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
एतां कथां कथयित्वा यीशु र्दुःखी सन् प्रमाणं दत्त्वा कथितवान् अहं युष्मानतियथार्थं वदामि युष्माकम् एको जनो मां परकरेषु समर्पयिष्यति।
22 Then the disciples looked one at another, doubting of whom he spake.
ततः स कमुद्दिश्य कथामेतां कथितवान् इत्यत्र सन्दिग्धाः शिष्याः परस्परं मुखमालोकयितुं प्रारभन्त।
23 Now there was one of the disciples reclining on the bosom of Jesus, whom Jesus loved.
तस्मिन् समये यीशु र्यस्मिन् अप्रीयत स शिष्यस्तस्य वक्षःस्थलम् अवालम्बत।
24 Therefore Simon Peter gave him a significant look, that he should inquire of Jesus, which of them it should be of whom he spake.
शिमोन्पितरस्तं सङ्केतेनावदत्, अयं कमुद्दिश्य कथामेताम् कथयतीति पृच्छ।
25 And he leaning on the breast of Jesus, said to him, Lord, which is it?
तदा स यीशो र्वक्षःस्थलम् अवलम्ब्य पृष्ठवान्, हे प्रभो स जनः कः?
26 Jesus answered, It is he to whom I shall give this morsel of bread, when I have dipped it. And dipping the morsel of bread, he gave it unto Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
ततो यीशुः प्रत्यवदद् एकखण्डं पूपं मज्जयित्वा यस्मै दास्यामि सएव सः; पश्चात् पूपखण्डमेकं मज्जयित्वा शिमोनः पुत्राय ईष्करियोतीयाय यिहूदै दत्तवान्।
27 And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus saith to him, What thou doest, do quickly.
तस्मिन् दत्ते सति शैतान् तमाश्रयत्; तदा यीशुस्तम् अवदत् त्वं यत् करिष्यसि तत् क्षिप्रं कुरु।
28 Now none of those who sat at table knew wherefore he had spoken to him.
किन्तु स येनाशयेन तां कथामकथायत् तम् उपविष्टलोकानां कोपि नाबुध्यत;
29 For some supposed, as Judas kept the purse, that Jesus was saying to him, Buy what we need for the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
किन्तु यिहूदाः समीपे मुद्रासम्पुटकस्थितेः केचिद् इत्थम् अबुध्यन्त पार्व्वणासादनार्थं किमपि द्रव्यं क्रेतुं वा दरिद्रेभ्यः किञ्चिद् वितरितुं कथितवान्।
30 Having then received the sop, he went out immediately: now it was night.
तदा पूपखण्डग्रहणात् परं स तूर्णं बहिरगच्छत्; रात्रिश्च समुपस्यिता।
31 When therefore he was gone, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
यिहूदे बहिर्गते यीशुरकथयद् इदानीं मानवसुतस्य महिमा प्रकाशते तेनेश्वरस्यापि महिमा प्रकाशते।
32 If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him with himself, and immediately glorify him.
यदि तेनेश्वरस्य महिमा प्रकाशते तर्हीश्वरोपि स्वेन तस्य महिमानं प्रकाशयिष्यति तूर्णमेव प्रकाशयिष्यति।
33 My dear children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: as I said to the Jews, Whither I am going, ye cannot come; so say I now to you.
हे वत्सा अहं युष्माभिः सार्द्धं किञ्चित्कालमात्रम् आसे, ततः परं मां मृगयिष्यध्वे किन्त्वहं यत्स्थानं यामि तत्स्थानं यूयं गन्तुं न शक्ष्यथ, यामिमां कथां यिहूदीयेभ्यः कथितवान् तथाधुना युष्मभ्यमपि कथयामि।
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; even as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
यूयं परस्परं प्रीयध्वम् अहं युष्मासु यथा प्रीये यूयमपि परस्परम् तथैव प्रीयध्वं, युष्मान् इमां नवीनाम् आज्ञाम् आदिशामि।
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
तेनैव यदि परस्परं प्रीयध्वे तर्हि लक्षणेनानेन यूयं मम शिष्या इति सर्व्वे ज्ञातुं शक्ष्यन्ति।
36 Simon Peter saith to him, Lord, Whither art thou going? Jesus answered him, Whither I am going, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me hereafter.
शिमोनपितरः पृष्ठवान् हे प्रभो भवान् कुत्र यास्यति? ततो यीशुः प्रत्यवदत्, अहं यत्स्थानं यामि तत्स्थानं साम्प्रतं मम पश्चाद् गन्तुं न शक्नोषि किन्तु पश्चाद् गमिष्यसि।
37 Peter saith to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.
तदा पितरः प्रत्युदितवान्, हे प्रभो साम्प्रतं कुतो हेतोस्तव पश्चाद् गन्तुं न शक्नोमि? त्वदर्थं प्राणान् दातुं शक्नोमि।
38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for me? Verily, verily, I tell thee, the cock will not crow, before thou shalt deny me thrice.
ततो यीशुः प्रत्युक्तवान् मन्निमित्तं किं प्राणान् दातुं शक्नोषि? त्वामहं यथार्थं वदामि, कुक्कुटरवणात् पूर्व्वं त्वं त्रि र्माम् अपह्नोष्यसे।
