< John 1 >
1 IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Ansa na wɔrebɛbɔ ewiase no, na Asɛm no wɔ hɔ dada. Na Asɛm no ne Onyankopɔn na ɛwɔ hɔ. Na Asɛm no yɛ Onyankopɔn.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
Ahyɛaseɛ no, na Asɛm no ne Onyankopɔn na ɛwɔ hɔ.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not one thing made that was made.
Ɛnam ne so na wɔbɔɔ adeɛ nyinaa. Wɔankwati no anyɛ biribiara.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Ne mu na nkwa wɔ; na saa nkwa no na ɛma nnipa hann.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness did not comprehend it.
Hann no hyerɛn wɔ esum mu a esum no ntumi nni hann no so.
6 A man was sent from God, whose name was John.
Onyankopɔn somaa ɔbarima bi a wɔfrɛ no Yohane.
7 He came for a witness, that he might bear testimony concerning the Light, that all men through him might believe.
Ɔbɛdii hann no ho adanseɛ sɛdeɛ ɛbɛma nnipa afa ne so agye hann no adi.
8 He was not the Light, but sent that he should bear testimony concerning the Light.
Ɛnyɛ ɔno ankasa ne hann no, na mmom, ɔbaa sɛ ɔrebɛdi hann no ho adanseɛ.
9 He was that true Light, which illumines every man by his coming into the world.
Saa hann yi ne nokorɛ hann a ɛba ewiase ma ɛhyerɛn nnipa nyinaa so no.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Saa ɛberɛ no, na Asɛm no wɔ ewiase. Ɛwom sɛ Onyankopɔn nam ne so na ɔbɔɔ ewiase deɛ, nanso ɔbaa ewiase no, ewiase anhunu no.
11 He came unto his peculiar people, and his peculiar people did not receive him.
Ɔbaa nʼankasa ne ɔman mu, nanso ne manfoɔ annye no anto mu.
12 But as many as did receive him, on them he bestowed authority to become children of God, even on those who believe on his name:
Na wɔn a wɔgyee no, na wɔgyee ne din diiɛ no, ɔmaa wɔn tumi ma wɔbɛyɛɛ Onyankopɔn mma
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
wɔ honhom fam, a ɛmfiri onipa anaa ɔhonam fam, na mmom ɛfiri Onyankopɔn ankasa.
14 And the Word became incarnate, and tabernacled with us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ) full of grace and truth.
Asɛm no bɛyɛɛ onipa ne yɛn bɛtenaeɛ ma yɛhunuu nʼanimuonyam sɛ ɔba korɔ a ɔfiri Agya no nkyɛn a adom ne nokorɛ ahyɛ no ma.
15 John bore witness concerning him, and cried, saying, This is he of whom I said, He that is coming after me, is before me: because before me he was.
Yohane kaa ne ho asɛm sɛ, “Yei ne deɛ mekaa ne ho asɛm sɛ, ‘Deɛ ɔdi mʼakyi reba no yɛ kɛse sene me, ɛfiri sɛ, ɔwɔ hɔ ansa na wɔwoo me no.’”
16 And from his plenitude we all have received, even grace corresponding with his grace.
Ɔfiri ne mmɔborɔhunu a ɛtoɔ ntwa da no mu hyira yɛn nyinaa daa daa.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but the grace and the reality came by Jesus Christ.
Onyankopɔn nam Mose so de mmara maa yɛn, nanso ɛnam Yesu so na yɛnyaa adom ne nokorɛ.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath thoroughly described him.
Obiara nhunuu Onyankopɔn da, gye ne Ba korɔ no a ɔno nso yɛ Onyankopɔn no, deɛ ɔwɔ Agya no nkyɛn na wada no adi no.
19 And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites, that they should question him, Who art thou?
Yudafoɔ mpanin a wɔwɔ Yerusalem somaa asɔfoɔ ne Lewifoɔ kɔɔ Yohane nkyɛn kɔbisaa no sɛ, “Wone Agyenkwa no anaa?”
20 And he confessed, and denied it not; but acknowledged, I am not the Messiah.
Yohane antwentwɛn asɛm no mmuaeɛ so. Ɔpaee mu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn prɛko pɛ sɛ, “Ɛnyɛ mene Agyenkwa no.”
21 And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? and he said, I am not. Art thou that prophet? and he answered, No.
Wɔbisaa no sɛ, “Ɛnneɛ, na wone hwan, Elia anaa?” Ɔbuaa wɔn sɛ, “Dabi.” Wɔbisaa no bio sɛ, “Wone Odiyifoɔ no?” Ɔsane buaa wɔn sɛ, “Dabi”.
22 Then said they to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us: What description givest thou of thyself?
Wɔsane bisaa no sɛ, “Ɛnneɛ, na wone hwan? Ka kyerɛ yɛn na yɛnkɔbɔ wɔn a wɔsomaa yɛn no amaneɛ. Asɛm bɛn na wowɔ ka fa wo ho?”
23 He said, I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way for the Lord, as said the prophet Isaiah.
Yohane buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mene nne a ɛfiri ɛserɛ so a ɛreteam, sɛdeɛ Odiyifoɔ Yesaia hyɛɛ nkɔm sɛ, ‘Monsiesie mo ho mma Awurade ba a ɔbɛba no no.’”
24 And they who were sent, were of the Pharisees.
Afei, wɔn a Farisifoɔ no somaa wɔn no bisaa Yohane bio sɛ,
25 And they questioned him, and said to him, Why then dost thou baptise, if thou be not the Messiah, nor Elias, nor that prophet?
“Sɛ ɛnyɛ wone Agyenkwa no anaa Elia anaa Odiyifoɔ no a, adɛn enti na wobɔ asu?”
26 John answered them, saying, I baptise with water: but in the midst of you hath stood a person, whom ye have not known;
Yohane nso buaa sɛ, “Me deɛ, nsuo na mede bɔ asu, nanso obi wɔ mo mfimfini ha a monnim no,
27 it is he, though coming after me, who was before me, the thong of whole sandal I am not worthy to untie.
a ne mpaboa mpo memfata sɛ meworɔ; ɔno na ɔbɛdi mʼakyi aba.”
28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptising.
Saa asɛm yi sii Betania a ɛwɔ Asubɔnten Yordan agya, faako a na Yohane rebɔ asu no.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming to him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world,
Adeɛ kyeeɛ a Yohane hunuu Yesu sɛ ɔreba ne nkyɛn no, ɔteaam kaa sɛ, “hwɛ, Onyankopɔn Dwammaa a ɔyi ewiase bɔne korɔ no!
30 This is he of whom I spake, After me cometh a man who was before me: for before me he existed.
Yei ne deɛ mekaa ne ho asɛm sɛ, ‘Deɛ ɔdi mʼakyi reba no yɛ kɛse sene me, ɛfiri sɛ, na ɔwɔ hɔ ansa na mereba.’
31 And I knew him not: though that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore am I come baptising with water.
Me deɛ, na mennim no, nanso mede nsuo bɛbɔɔ asu, sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ na mɛda no adi akyerɛ Israel.”
32 And John bore witness, saying, I saw the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it rested upon him.
Na Yohane dii adanseɛ sɛ, “Mehunuu Honhom no sɛ asiane aba ne so sɛ aborɔnoma a ɔresiane firi soro.
33 And I did not know him: but he that sent me baptising with water, he said to me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending as a dove, and resting upon him, that is he who baptiseth with the Holy Ghost.
Na anka mennim no, nanso ɛberɛ a Onyankopɔn somaa me sɛ memfa nsuo mmɔ asu no, ɔka kyerɛɛ me sɛ, ‘Onipa a wobɛhunu sɛ Honhom no bɛsiane aba ne so no, ɔno ne deɛ worehwɛ nʼanim no. Ɔno na ɔde Honhom Kronkron bɛbɔ asu.’
34 And I have seen it, and have borne testimony that this is the Son of God.
Mahunu yeinom nyinaa sɛ aba mu na medi ho adanseɛ sɛ yei ne Onyankopɔn Ba no.”
35 On the morrow John was again standing with two of his disciples;
Adeɛ kyeeɛ a Yohane ne nʼasuafoɔ no mu baanu gyina baabi no, wɔhunuu sɛ Yesu retwam.
36 and looking upon Jesus as he walked by, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
Yohane hwɛɛ no, kaa sɛ, “Yei ne Onyankopɔn Dwammaa no!”
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
Asuafoɔ baanu no tee deɛ ɔkaeɛ no, wɔkɔdii Yesu akyi.
38 Then Jesus turned about, and seeing them following, saith to them, What are ye seeking? They said unto him, Rabbi (which signifies, when translated, Master), where is thy abode?
Yesu twaa nʼani hunu sɛ wɔdi nʼakyi no, ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Ɛdeɛn na morehwehwɛ?” Wɔn nso bisaa no sɛ, “Rabi” (a ne nkyerɛaseɛ ne Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ), “ɛhe na wote?”
39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he abode, and continued with him that day: and it was about the tenth hour.
Ɔbuaa wɔn sɛ, “Mommra mmɛhwɛ.” Enti, wɔne no kɔ kɔhwɛɛ faako a ɔte no ne no tenaa hɔ firi awia nnɔnnan kɔsii anwummerɛ.
40 One of the two, who had heard from John mention of Jesus, and had followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.
Nnipa baanu a wɔtee Yohane asɛm no enti ɛmaa wɔkɔdii Yesu akyi no mu baako ne Simon Petro nua Andrea.
41 He first finds his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being translated, the Christ).
Adeɛ a ɛdi ɛkan a Andrea yɛeɛ ne sɛ, ɔkɔhwehwɛɛ ne nua Petro ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Yɛahunu Mesia no.”
42 And he brought him to Jesus. Then Jesus looking on him, said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas: thou shalt be called Cephas, which, interpreted in Greek, is Petros, a Rock.
Ɔde Petro kɔɔ Yesu nkyɛn. Yesu hwɛɛ Petro dinn ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Wone Simon, Yohane ba no. Nanso, ɛfiri ɛnnɛ rekɔ wɔbɛfrɛ wo Kefa.” Ɛno ara ne Petro a nʼasekyerɛ ne Ɔbotan no.
43 The next day Jesus resolved to go into Galilee, and he findeth Philip, and saith to him, Follow me.
Adeɛ kyeeɛ no, Yesu yɛɛ nʼadwene sɛ ɔbɛkɔ Galilea. Ɔhunuu Filipo ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Di mʼakyi.”
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
Filipo nso na ɔfiri Betsaida a ɛhɔ na Petro ne Andrea nso firi.
45 Philip findeth Nathaniel, and saith to him, We have found him whom Moses in the law has described, and the prophets, Jesus the son of Joseph, who is of Nazareth.
Filipo firi hɔ kɔɔ Natanael nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Yɛahunu Agyenkwa no a Mose ne adiyifoɔ no hyɛɛ ne ho nkɔm no no. Wɔfrɛ no Yesu. Ɔyɛ Yosef a ɔfiri Nasaret no ba.”
46 And Nathaniel said to him, Can any thing good come out of Nazareth? Philip saith to him, Come and see.
Natanael bisaa Filipo sɛ, “Ade pa bi bɛtumi afiri Nasaret aba?” Filipo nso ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Bra na bɛhwɛ.”
47 Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite in reality, in whom there is no guile!
Ɛberɛ a Yesu hunuu Natanael sɛ ɔreba no, ɔkaa sɛ, “Israelni nokwafoɔ ni ampa.”
48 Nathaniel saith unto him, From whence canst thou know me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
Natanael bisaa Yesu sɛ, “Woyɛɛ dɛn hunuu sɛdeɛ meteɛ?” Yesu nso buaa no sɛ, “Ɛberɛ a wowɔ borɔdɔma dua no ase hɔ no na mehunuu wo ansa na Filipo rebɛfrɛ wo.”
49 Nathaniel answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the king of Israel.
Natanael kaa sɛ, “Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ, wone Onyankopɔn Ba, Israelhene no!”
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, dost thou believe? thou shalt see greater things than these.
Yesu bisaa no sɛ, “Esiane sɛ meka kyerɛɛ wo sɛ mehunuu wo wɔ borɔdɔma dua no ase enti na wogye di anaa? Wobɛhunu nneɛma akɛseɛ a ɛsene yeinom.
51 And he saith to him, Verily, verily, I tell you, From henceforth ye shall see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
Mereka nokorɛ akyerɛ mo sɛ, mobɛhunu sɛ ɔsoro abue na Onyankopɔn abɔfoɔ redi aforosiane Onipa Ba no soɔ.”
