< Hebrews 5 >
1 FOR, every high-priest taken from among men, is constituted on behalf of men for those services which relate to God, that he should offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
ⲁ̅ⲁⲣⲭⲏⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉϣⲁⲩⲧⲁϩⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ϧⲁⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲉⲛ ⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ϣⲟⲩϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲛⲟⲃⲓ.
2 being able to feel tenderly for the ignorant and erroneous; forasmuch as he is himself encompassed with infirmity.
ⲃ̅⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉϣⲉⲡ⳿ⲙⲕⲁϩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲁⲧ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲥⲱⲣⲉⲙ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ϩⲱϥ ⳿ϥⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲱⲛⲓ.
3 And on this account he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifice for sins.
ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧϥ ⲥⲉ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲁϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲉϣⲁϥ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲁ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲉϥⲛⲟⲃⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
4 And no man assumes to himself this honour, but he who is called of God, even as Aaron was.
ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϭⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁϥⲑⲱϩⲉⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲫϯ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲁ⳿ⲁⲣⲱⲛ.
5 So Christ also did not himself assume the glory to become high-priest, but he gave it who spake to him, “Thou art my Son; I have this day begotten thee.”
ⲉ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱϥ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉⲧⲁϥϯⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲫⲏ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲓ⳿ϫⲫⲟⲕ ⳿ⲙⲫⲟⲟⲩ.
6 As he saith also in another passage, “Thou art priest forever after the order of Melchisedec;” (aiōn )
ⲋ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲕⲉⲙⲁ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲏⲃ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⳿ⲧⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲗⲭⲓⲥⲉⲇⲉⲕ. (aiōn )
7 who in the days of his flesh, with strong crying and tears, having offered up prayers and supplications to him who was able to save him from death, and being heard for his reverential awe,
ⲍ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲧⲱⲃϩ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛϯϩⲟ ϩⲁ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁϩⲙⲉϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩ⳿ϧⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥϫⲟⲣ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲉⲣⲙⲱⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧϩⲟϯ.
8 though he was a son, he learned obedience from the things which he suffered:
ⲏ̅ⲕⲉⲡⲉⲣ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉϯⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉϥⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲙⲕⲁⲩϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥϭⲓⲧⲟⲩ.
9 and complete himself, he became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey him; (aiōnios )
ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥϫⲱⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲗⲱⲓϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲉⲛⲉϩ. (aiōnios )
10 publicly proclaimed of God high-priest after the order of Melchisedec.
ⲓ̅⳿ⲉⲁ ⲫϯ ⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲣⲭⲏⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ϣⲁ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⳿ⲧⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲗⲭⲓⲥⲉⲇⲉⲕ.
11 Concerning whom we have much to discourse, and of difficult interpretation to explain, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧϥ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ϥⲙⲟⲕϩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁϩⲙⲉϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲱⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ.
12 For though ye ought for the time to be teachers of others, ye have again need that some one teach you the leading principles of the oracles of God; and are become as those who need milk, and not solid food.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲕⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲁⲥ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣⲣⲉϥϯ ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲭⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲟⲛ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ⲭⲣⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲃⲉ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲥⲧⲟⲓⲭⲓⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲧⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ⲭⲣⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲱϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ϧⲣⲉ ⲉⲥϫⲟⲣ ⲁⲛ.
13 For every one who useth milk is inexperienced in the word of righteousness: for he is an infant.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϥϧⲉⲧϧⲱⲧ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲟⲩⲁⲗⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ.
14 But solid nourishment is proper for grown men, even as many as by habit have their organs of perception exercised for the discernment both of good and evil.
