Hebrews 4
1 LET us fear then lest, though a promise be left of entering into his rest, any one of you should appear to fail of obtaining it.
So wollen wir uns denn davor fürchten, daß nicht jemand unter euch versäumt scheine, während doch die Verheißung in die Ruhe einzugehen noch vorbehalten ist.
2 For we are hearing the same gospel preached as they did; but the word heard did not profit them, not being incorporated by faith with those who heard it.
Gilt doch uns die gute Botschaft so gut wie jenen; aber jene hat das vernommene Wort nichts genutzt, weil es nicht durch Glauben mit den Hörern zusammengewachsen ist.
3 For we who have believed, have entered into the rest, even as he said, “So, I sware in my wrath, that they shall not enter into my rest;” and that notwithstanding the works were done from the foundation of the world.
Denn in die Ruhe kommen wir, die wir gläubig wurden, demgemäß daß er gesagt hat: wie ich schwur in meinem Zorne: sie sollen nicht in meine Ruhe eingehen, obwohl die Werke von der Grundlegung der Welt her fertig waren.
4 For he said in a certain passage concerning the seventh day to this purport, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.”
Hat er doch über den siebenten Tag an einer Stelle gesagt: und Gott ruhte am siebenten Tag von allen seinen Werken,
5 And in this passage again, “They shall not enter into my rest.”
und hier dagegen: sie sollen nicht in meine Ruhe eingehen.
6 Forasmuch therefore as it remaineth for some to enter into it, and they who first had the gospel preached to them entered not in because of unbelief;
Da nun hiernach einesteils anzunehmen ist, daß etliche in dieselbe kommen, und anderenteils diejenigen, welche zuerst die Botschaft empfiengen, nicht hineinkamen des Ungehorsams wegen,
7 again he limiteth a certain day, saying by David, To-day, after so long a time; as it is said, “To-day if ye will hear his voice harden not your hearts.”
so bestimmt er wieder einen Tag, mit Heute, was er durch David um so viel später verkündet, wie vorhin erwähnt heute, wenn ihr seine Stimme höret, so verhärtet nicht eure Herzen.
8 For if Joshua had given them the rest, he would not afterwards have spoken of another day.
Denn wenn Josua sie zur Ruhe gebracht hätte, so hätte er nicht von einem anderen späteren Tage gesprochen.
9 A sabbatical rest then still remaineth for the people of God.
Mithin ist eine Sabbatruhe dem Volke Gottes noch vorbehalten;
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath rested from his works, as God did from his own.
denn wer in seine Ruhe gekommen ist, der hat auch selbst Ruhe gefunden von seinen Werken, ebenso wie Gott von den seinigen.
11 Let us then earnestly endeavour to enter into that rest, lest any person fall after the same example of unbelief.
So lasset uns nun trachten, in jene Ruhe zu kommen, damit nicht einer falle nach eben diesem Vorbilde des Ungehorsams.
12 For the word of God is quickening, and energetic, and sharper than every two-edged sword, and piercing through and through, so as to divide both soul and spirit, both joints and spinal marrow, and critically judges the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Denn lebendig ist Gottes Spruch und kräftig und schneidender als ein zweischneidiges Messer, und eindringend, bis in die Fuge von Seele und Geist, Gelenk und Mark und angethan zu richten Gesinnungen und Gedanken des Herzens;
13 Even creation is not invisible before him, but all things are naked, and fully displayed before his eyes, to whom we must give our account.
und es gibt kein Geschöpf, das ihm verborgen wäre, alles ist bloß und offengelegt für die Augen dessen, mit dem wir es zu thun haben.
14 Having then a great high-priest passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession.
Da wir nun einen großen Hohenpriester haben, der durch die Himmel gedrungen ist, Jesus den Sohn Gottes, so wollen wir am Bekenntnis festhalten.
15 For we have not an high-priest incapable of a fellow-feeling with our infirmities, but one tempted in all points, in exact resemblance with ourselves, sin excepted.
Denn wir haben nicht einen Hohenpriester, der nicht mit unseren Schwächen mitfühlen könnte, sondern der in allem versucht ist in ähnlicher Weise, ohne Sünde.
16 Let us therefore approach with boldness the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace for seasonable help.
So lasset uns denn mit Zuversicht hintreten zu dem Throne der Gnade, damit wir Erbarmen empfangen und Gnade finden zu rechtzeitiger Hilfe.
