< 2 Thessalonians 1 >

1 PAUL, and Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ:
Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
2 grace unto you and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as it is fit, because your faith groweth exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all towards each other aboundeth:
We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly increasing and the love that each of you has for one another is abounding.
4 so that we ourselves make our boast of you among the churches of God, for your patience and fidelity under all your persecutions and afflictions which ye endure:
As a result we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your perseverance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and tribulations that you are enduring.
5 which is a manifest proof of the righteous judgment of God, that ye should be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:
This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, and it is happening so that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
6 seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
It is indeed right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,
7 and to you who are troubled, rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven with his mighty angels,
and to give to you who are being afflicted relief along with us at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels.
8 in a flame of fire, taking vengeance of them that know not God, and obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
With flaming fire he will inflict vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
9 who shall receive punishment, even eternal perdition, from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power: (aiōnios g166)
They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, separated from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, (aiōnios g166)
10 when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired by all those who believe; because our testimony was believed among you in that day.
on that day when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be marveled at by all who have believed, including you, because you have believed our testimony.
11 Wherefore also we pray continually for you, that our God would count you worthy of the calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
With this in mind, we always pray for you that our God will make you worthy of his calling and by his power bring to fulfillment every good intention and work of faith,
12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified by you, and you by him, according to the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
