< 2 Peter 1 >
1 SIMON Peter, the servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained with us the same precious faith by the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
ⲁ̅ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲣⲟⲥ ⳿ⲫⲃⲱⲕ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲡ⳿ⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲩⲥⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲛⲉⲙⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲱⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏ ⲣ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪.
2 grace unto you and peace be multiplied through the knowledge of God, even Jesus our Lord,
ⲃ̅⳿ⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯϩⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲩ⳿ⲁϣⲁⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲟⲩⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
3 as his divine power hath freely given us all things tending to life and godliness, through the acknowledgment of him who hath called us to glory and fortitude:
ⲅ̅ϩⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉⲁ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ϯϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡⲱⲛϧ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲉⲩⲥⲉⲃⲏⲥ ⲑⲏ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲧⲏⲓⲥ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛϫⲓⲛϫⲏ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲟⲩⲉⲛ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁϥⲑⲁϩⲙⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉϥⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯ⳿ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ.
4 whereby superlatively great and precious promises are freely given to us: that by these ye might become partakers of a divine nature, having fled far away from the corruption that is in the world through inordinate concupiscence.―
ⲇ̅ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲧⲏⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲓⲟ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲧⲫⲩⲥⲓⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲫⲏ ⲧ ⲥⲁⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϯⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲧⲁⲕⲟ ⲑⲏ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ.
5 And for this very purpose employing the greatest diligence, lead up in the train of your faith courage; and with courage intelligence;
ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲡⲟⲇⲏ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁ ϯ⳿ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯ⳿ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ ϯ⳿ⲅⲛⲱⲥⲓⲥ.
6 and with intelligence moderation; and with moderation patience; and with patience piety;
ⲋ̅⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯ⳿ⲅⲛⲱⲥⲓⲥ ϯⲉⲅ⳿ⲕⲣⲁⲧⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲉⲅ⳿ⲕⲣⲁⲧⲓⲁ ϯϩⲩⲡⲟⲙⲟⲛⲏ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯϩⲟⲡⲟⲙⲟⲛⲏ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲉⲩⲥⲉⲃⲏⲥ.
7 and with piety fraternal affection; and with fraternal affection love.
ⲍ̅⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲉⲩⲥⲉⲃⲏⲥ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ ϯ⳿ⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ.
8 For if these things are in your possession, and abounding, they will render you neither inactive nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
ⲏ̅ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲩϣⲟⲡ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉⲉⲣϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲟ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲛⲁⲉⲣ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲁⲣⲅⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧⲟⲩⲧⲁϩ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡⲥⲟⲩⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
9 But he that hath no possession of these things, is blind, dim-sighted, sinking into oblivion of his purification from the sins of his former days.
ⲑ̅ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ϣⲟⲡ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲃⲉⲗⲗⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϫⲟⲙϫⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϭⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲉⲃϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲉϥϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲃⲓ.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make sure your calling and election: for by doing these things, ye shall never at any time stumble:
ⲓ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲓⲏⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉⲩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁϫⲣⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛⲑⲱϩⲉⲙ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲡ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲥⲗⲁϯ ⲉⲛⲉϩ.
11 but an entrance will thus be richly afforded you into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios )
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲅⲁⲣ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲣⲁⲙⲁ⳿ⲟ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉⲥⲉϩⲛⲉ ⲡⲓⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲑⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲉⲛⲉϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉⲛⲥⲱⲧⲏ ⲣ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅. (aiōnios )
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent continually to remind you of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the present truth.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ϯⲛⲁϯ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲕⲉⲡⲉⲣ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲟⲩⲧ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ.
13 Indeed, I think it right, as long as I am in this frail tabernacle, to rouse up your attention by reminding you:
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ϯⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲙⲙⲏⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉϯⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲉⲫⲟⲥⲟⲛ ϯϣⲟⲡ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲓ⳿ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲩⲓ.
14 knowing that the deposition of this frail tabernacle of mine is hastily approaching, as our Lord Jesus Christ hath made evident to me.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲉⲓ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⳿ϥⲛⲁⲃⲱⲗ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲭⲱⲗⲉⲙ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱϥ ⲉⲧⲁ ⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲧⲁⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ.
15 I will endeavour then that even after my decease, ye may always have wherewith to preserve the remembrance of these things.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ϯⲛⲁⲓⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣ⳿ⲫⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲁ ⲡⲁⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
16 For we have not followed artfully devised fables, when we made known to you the power and advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eye-witnesses of his majesty.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ϩⲁⲛ⳿ϣϥⲱ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲥⲉⲃ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲁⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲧⲁⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲧϫⲟⲙ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲧⲡⲁⲣⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲁⲛⲉⲣⲣⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉϯⲙⲉⲧⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫⲏ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when such a voice was sent forth to him from the transcendently magnificent glory, This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲁϥϭⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲓⲱⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⳿ⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲛⲁⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲡⲁⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲓϯⲙⲁϯ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱϥ.
18 And this voice we heard coming out of heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲁⲓ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⲁⲛⲥⲟⲑⲙⲉⲥ ⲉⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲫⲉ ⲉⲛⲭⲏ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲧⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ.
19 And we hold the prophetic word more confirmed, to which ye do well to attend, as to a lamp shining in a dark passage, until the day dawn, and the morning-star arise upon your hearts.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉϥⲧⲁϫⲣⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ ⲕⲁⲗⲱⲥ ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲣⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϯ⳿ϩⲑⲏⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϧⲏⲃⲥ ⲉϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛ ⲭⲁⲕⲓ ϣⲁⲧⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ϣⲁϥϣⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲫ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ.
20 Knowing this in the first place, that all scriptural prophecy is not from any man’s own suggestions.
ⲕ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲓⲁ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲛⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲃⲱⲗ ϣⲟⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ.
21 For prophecy in old time came not by the will of man: but the holy men of God spake under the impulse of the Holy Ghost.
