2 Corinthians 3
1 DO we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some, commendatory letters to you, or commendatory letters from you?
Elkezdjük-e ismét ajánlgatni magunkat? Vagy talán szükségünk van, mint némelyeknek, ajánlólevelekre hozzátok vagy tőletek?
2 Ye are our letter written in our hearts, acknowledged and read of all men:
A mi levelünk ti vagytok, szívünkbe írva, amelyet ismer és olvas minden ember.
3 because ye are manifestly seen to be the letter of Christ, of which we have been the secretaries, written not with ink, but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tables of stone, but on the fleshly tables of the heart.
Mert nyilvánvaló, hogy Krisztusnak a mi szolgálatunk által szerzett levele vagytok, nem tintával, hanem az élő Isten Lelkével írva, nem kőtáblákra, hanem a szívnek hústábláira.
4 And such confidence have we through Christ towards God:
Ilyen bizodalmunk Krisztus által van Isten iránt.
5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves to account any thing of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God.
Nem mintha önmagunktól volnánk alkalmasak, magunknak tulajdonítva valamit, ellenkezőleg a mi alkalmas voltunk Istentől van,
6 Who hath made us also able ministers of the new testament, not of the letter but of the spirit; for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
aki alkalmassá tett minket arra, hogy új szövetség szolgái legyünk, nem a betűé, hanem a Léleké, mert a betű megöl, a Lélek pedig megelevenít.
7 For if the ministry of death in letters graven on stone, was attended with glory, so that the children of Israel could not keep their eyes fixed upon the countenance of Moses, because of the glory of his countenance, though soon evanescent;
Ha pedig a halálnak betűkkel kövekbe vésett szolgálata dicsőséges volt, úgyhogy Izrael fiai nem is nézhettek Mózes arcára, arcának mulandó dicsősége miatt,
8 how much more will not the ministry of the Spirit be attended with glory?
hogyne volna még inkább dicsőséges a Lélek szolgálata?
9 For if the ministry of condemnation is glory, much more doth the ministry of righteousness excel in glory.
Mert ha a kárhoztatás szolgálata dicsőséges, mennyivel inkább dicsőséges az igazság szolgálata?
10 For that which was glorious hath no glory, comparatively, because of the glory which excelleth.
Sőt az egykor dicsőített, már nem is dicsőséges, az őt felülmúló dicsőség miatt.
11 For if that which was abolished came in a glorious manner, much more is that which remaineth glorious.
Mert ha dicsőséges a mulandó, sokkal inkább dicsőséges a maradandó.
12 Having therefore such a hope, we use much freedom of speech.
Mivel tehát ilyen reménységünk van, nagy nyíltsággal szólunk.
13 And act not as Moses who spread a veil over his face, in order that the children of Israel might not look stedfastly to the end of that which should be abolished.
És nem úgy, mint Mózes, aki leplet borított arcára, hogy ne lássák Izrael fiai mulandó dicsőségének végét.
14 But their understandings were darkened: for unto this day the same veil in their reading the old testament abideth unremoved; which veil is taken away by Christ.
De értelmük eltompult. Mert ugyanaz a lepel mind e mai napig ott van felfedetlenül az Ószövetség olvasásánál, mert az csak Krisztusban tűnik el.
15 For unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is spread over their hearts.
Sőt mindmáig, amikor csak olvassák Mózest, lepel borul szívükre,
16 Nevertheless, when Israel shall turn unto the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
de ha majd megtérnek az Úrhoz, akkor lehull a lepel.
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Az Úr pedig Lélek, és ahol az Úr Lelke van, ott a szabadság.
18 And we all with face unveiled, beholding the glory of the Lord reflected as in a mirror, according to the same image, receive a transformation from glory into glory, as by the Lord, the Spirit.
Mi pedig az Úr dicsőségét mindnyájan fedetlen arccal szemléljük, az Úr Lelke által ugyanarra a képre formálódunk, dicsőségről dicsőségre.
