1 Timothy 1
1 PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the order of God, our Saviour, and Lord, Jesus Christ, who is our hope;
Pablo, un apóstol de Cristo Jesús por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador, y de Cristo Jesús nuestra esperanza,
2 to Timothy, my genuine son in faith: grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Lord.
a Timoteo, legítimo hijo en [la ]fe. Gracia, misericordia, paz de Dios Padre y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.
3 As I exhorted thee to abide at Ephesus when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest enjoin certain persons to introduce no different doctrine,
Cuando pasé a Macedonia te rogué permanecer en Éfeso para que mandaras a algunos que no ofrecieran instrucción diferente,
4 nor to attend to fables and endless genealogies, which give occasion to disputes rather than godly edification, which is by faith; so do.
ni pusieran atención a fábulas y genealogías interminables, las cuales más bien promueven especulaciones inútiles y no la administración de Dios que es por fe.
5 For the end of the commandment is love out of a clean heart, and good conscience, and faith unfeigned:
Pues el propósito de esta instrucción es [el] amor de corazón puro, buena conciencia y fe sincera,
6 from which some, having swerved, have turned aside to vain babbling;
de las cuales, algunos perdieron el camino y fueron desviados hacia vacía palabrería.
7 affecting to be doctors of the law, though they underhand neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
Deseaban ser maestros de la Ley sin entender lo que dicen, ni las cosas que hablan de manera absoluta.
8 But we know that the law is good if a man use it according to its institution;
Pero sabemos que [la] Ley es buena cuando alguno habla legítimamente.
9 knowing this, that the law is not made for the just man, but for the lawless and disorderly, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for men-slayers,
Reconocemos que [la] Ley no se instituyó para [el] justo, sino para inicuos y desobedientes, ateos y pecadores, perversos y profanos, patricidas y matricidas, homicidas,
10 for whoremongers, for sodomites, for stealers of men, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing which is contrary to sound doctrine,
inmorales sexuales, homosexuales, secuestradores, mentirosos, perjuros y si hay algún otro que se opone a [la ]sana doctrina,
11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been put in trust.
según las Buenas Noticias de la gloria del bendito Dios, las cuales se me encomendaron.
12 And I render thanks to him who hath strengthened me, even to Christ Jesus our Lord, that he hath counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
Estoy agradecido al que me fortaleció, a Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor, porque al ponerme en el ministerio, me consideró fiel.
13 who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and insolently violent, But I was admitted to mercy, for I did it ignorantly in unbelief;
Había sido un blasfemo, perseguidor e insolente. Pero me fue otorgada misericordia porque procedí por ignorancia en incredulidad.
14 but the grace of our Lord hath exceedingly abounded with faith and love, which is in Christ Jesus.
Pero la gracia de nuestro Señor estuvo presente en gran abundancia con fe y amor en Cristo Jesús.
15 It is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief.
La Palabra es fiel y digna de toda aceptación: Cristo Jesús vino al mundo a salvar pecadores, de los cuales yo soy [el ]primero.
16 But for this end obtained I mercy, that in me, the chief, Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to those who should after believe in him unto eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
Pero por esto [me ]fue otorgada misericordia, a fin de que Cristo Jesús demuestre toda longanimidad primero en mí como ejemplo de los que creerían en Él para vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
17 Now to the king eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Por tanto, al Rey de los siglos, inmortal, invisible, al único Dios, sean [el ]honor y [la ]gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. (aiōn g165)
18 This commandment, son Timothy, I give thee, according to the prophecies which were before delivered concerning thee, that by them thou mightest war a good warfare;
Este mandato te encargo, hijo Timoteo, para que conforme a las profecías que preceden sobre ti, te sirvas de ellas en el noble combate,
19 holding faith and a good conscience, which some having renounced, as touching the faith, have been shipwrecked:
y mantengas [la ]fe y la buena conciencia. Algunos naufragaron respecto a la fe al rechazarlas,
20 of whom are Hymeneus and Alexander, whom I have delivered over unto Satan, that they may be corrected, so as to blaspheme no more.
de los cuales son Himeneo y Alejandro, a quienes entregué a Satanás para que aprendieran a no blasfemar.
