< 1 Thessalonians 5 >
1 NOW concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I should write to you:
Na rĩrĩ, ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, ũhoro wa mahinda na mĩthenya-rĩ, tũtirĩ na bata wa kũmwandĩkĩra,
2 for yourselves know precisely that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
nĩgũkorwo nĩmũũĩ wega atĩ mũthenya wa Mwathani ũgooka o ta ũrĩa mũici okaga ũtukũ.
3 For when they say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction rusheth upon them, as travail on a woman with child, and they shall in no wise escape.
O rĩrĩa andũ maroiga atĩrĩ, “Kũrĩ thayũ na ũgitĩri,” hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩguo magaakorererwo nĩ mwanangĩko o rĩmwe, o ta ũrĩa mũtumia ũrĩ nda akoragĩrĩrwo nĩ ruo rwa kũheo mwana, nao matikahonoka.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you as a thief.
No inyuĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, mũtirĩ nduma-inĩ atĩ nĩguo mũthenya ũcio ũmũkorerere ta mũici.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of day: we are not the children of night, nor of darkness.
Inyuĩ inyuothe mũrĩ ciana cia ũtheri na ciana cia mũthenya. Ithuĩ tũtirĩ a ũtukũ kana a nduma.
6 Let us not then sleep as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, nĩtũtigei gũkoma ta acio angĩ, no nĩtũikarage twĩiguĩte na tũkerigagĩrĩria maũndũ.
7 For they who sleep, sleep in the night, and they who are drunken, are drunken in the night;
Nĩgũkorwo arĩa makomaga-rĩ, makomaga ũtukũ, na arĩa marĩĩagwo nĩ njoohi-rĩ, marĩĩagwo ũtukũ.
8 but let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
No kuona atĩ ithuĩ tũrĩ a mũthenya-rĩ, nĩtũtuĩke a kwĩgirĩrĩria maũndũ, twĩhumbĩte gako ga kũgitĩra gĩthũri karĩa ka wĩtĩkio na ka wendani, na tũgekĩra ũhoro wa kwĩrĩgĩrĩra ũhonokio taarĩ ngũbia ya kĩgera ya kũgitĩra mũtwe.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Nĩgũkorwo Ngai ndaatwamũrire nĩguo tũtuĩke a kũrakarĩrwo, no nĩtũtuĩke a kwamũkĩra ũhonokio thĩinĩ wa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ.
10 who died for us, that whether we sleep, or whether we wake, we may live together with him.
We nĩatũkuĩrĩire nĩgeetha, twakorwo twĩiguĩte kana tũkomete-rĩ, tũgaatũũrania hamwe nake.
11 Wherefore comfort one another, and edify one another, as also ye do.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, ũmanagĩrĩriai mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ na mwĩkĩranage hinya o ta ũrĩa mũreka rĩu.
12 Now we entreat you, brethren, to know those who labour among you, and preside over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 and to account of them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And live in peace among yourselves.
Mekagĩrĩrei mũno makĩria na mũmendage nĩ ũndũ wa wĩra ũcio marutaga. Tũũranagiai na thayũ mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ.
14 Now we conjure you, brethren, admonish the unruly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the infirm, be patient with all men.
Na ningĩ nĩtũkũmũringĩrĩria, inyuĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, mũkaanagie andũ arĩa igũũta, na mũũmagĩrĩrie arĩa marĩ guoya, na mũteithagie arĩa matarĩ hinya, na mũkiragĩrĩrie andũ othe.
15 See that no man return evil for evil to any man; but always pursue that which is good, both towards one another, and towards all men.
Menyagĩrĩrai gũtikagĩe mũndũ ũkũrĩhĩria ũũru na ũũru, no hĩndĩ ciothe geragiai gũtugana inyuĩ-ene, na mũtugage andũ arĩa angĩ othe.
hooyagai mũtegũtigithĩria;
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus to you-wards.
cookagĩriai Ngai ngaatho maũndũ-inĩ mothe, nĩgũkorwo ũguo nĩguo Ngai endaga harĩ inyuĩ thĩinĩ wa Kristũ Jesũ.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
Mũtikanahorie mwaki wa Roho;
20 Despise not prophesyings.
mũtikanaire ũhoro ũrĩa ũrathagwo.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Roranagiai maũndũ mothe. Rũmagiai maũndũ marĩa mega.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Theemagai ũndũ o wothe mũũru.
23 Now the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your whole spirit, and soul, and body be preserved faultless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ngai we mwene, o we Ngai wa thayũ, aromũtheria o kũna. Namo maroho manyu, na ngoro cianyu, o na mĩĩrĩ yanyu, iroikaragio itarĩ na ũcuuke hĩndĩ ĩrĩa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ agaacooka.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
Ũrĩa ũmwĩtaga inyuĩ nĩ mwĩhokeku, na nĩakahingia ũhoro ũcio.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, tũhooyagĩrei.
26 Salute all the brethren with an holy kiss.
Geithiai ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ othe na ngeithi theru cia kĩmumunyano.
27 I conjure you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
Nĩndamwatha ndĩ mbere ya Mwathani atĩ marũa maya mathomerwo ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ othe.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. The first epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens.
Wega wa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ ũrogĩa na inyuĩ.
