Titus 2

1 But speak you those things which become healthy teaching.

Σὺ δὲ λάλει ἃ πρέπει τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ.

2 That the elderly men be sober, grave, prudent, sound in faith, in divine love, in patience:

πρεσβύτας νηφαλίους εἶναι, σεμνούς, σώφρονας, ὑγιαίνοντας τῇ πίστει, τῇ ἀγάπῃ, τῇ ὑπομονῇ.

3 likewise that the elderly women be reverent in demeanor, not tattlers, not given to much wine, teachers of that which is good;

πρεσβύτιδας ὡσαύτως ἐν καταστήματι ἱεροπρεπεῖς, μὴ διαβόλους μὴ οἴνῳ πολλῷ δεδουλωμένας, καλοδιδασκάλους,

4 in order that they instruct the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,

ἵνα σωφρονίζωσιν τὰς νέας φιλάνδρους εἶναι, φιλοτέκνους,

5 to be prudent, chaste, domestic, good, submissive to their own husbands, in order that the word of God may not be blasphemed.

σώφρονας, ἁγνάς, οἰκουργούς ἀγαθάς, ὑποτασσομένας τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν, ἵνα μὴ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ βλασφημῆται.

6 Likewise exhort the young men to be prudent:

Τοὺς νεωτέρους ὡσαύτως παρακάλει σωφρονεῖν

7 concerning all things exhibiting yourself an example of good works; in teaching; purity, gravity,

περὶ πάντα, σεαυτὸν παρεχόμενος τύπον καλῶν ἔργων, ἐν τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ ἀφθορίαν, σεμνότητα,

8 the sound word, irrefutable, in order that the adversary may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning us.

λόγον ὑγιῆ ἀκατάγνωστον, ἵνα ὁ ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐντραπῇ μηδὲν ἔχων λέγειν περὶ ἡμῶν φαῦλον.

9 That servants submit to their own masters, that they be obedient in all things; not speaking back;

Δούλους ἰδίοις δεσπόταις ὑποτάσσεσθαι ἐν πᾶσιν, εὐαρέστους εἶναι, μὴ ἀντιλέγοντας,

10 not purloining, but exhibiting all good faith, that they may adorn the teaching of God our Saviour in all things.

μὴ νοσφιζομένους, ἀλλὰ πᾶσαν πίστιν ἐνδεικνυμένους ἀγαθήν, ἵνα τὴν διδασκαλίαν τὴν τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν θεοῦ κοσμῶσιν ἐν πᾶσιν.

11 For the grace of God, that brings salvation to all men, has appeared,

Ἐπεφάνη γὰρ ἡ χάρις τοῦ θεοῦ σωτήριος πᾶσιν ἀνθρώποις,

12 teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we must live prudently and righteously and holily in this present age; (aiōn g165)

παιδεύουσα ἡμᾶς ἵνα ἀρνησάμενοι τὴν ἀσέβειαν καὶ τὰς κοσμικὰς ἐπιθυμίας σωφρόνως καὶ δικαίως καὶ εὐσεβῶς ζήσωμεν ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι, (aiōn g165)

13 looking for the blessed hope even the appearing of the glory of our great God and our Saviour Christ Jesus;

προσδεχόμενοι τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης τοῦ μεγάλου θεοῦ καὶ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ,

14 who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

ὃς ἔδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἵνα λυτρώσηται ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀνομίας καὶ καθαρίσῃ ἑαυτῷ λαὸν περιούσιον, ζηλωτὴν καλῶν ἔργων.

15 Speak these things and exhort and convict with all authority; let no one despise thee.

Ταῦτα λάλει καὶ παρακάλει καὶ ἔλεγχε μετὰ πάσης ἐπιταγῆς· μηδείς σου περιφρονείτω.
