Romans 9
1 I speak the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲙⲉ ⲧⲉϯϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟⲥ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ϯϫⲓϭⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ. ⲉⲥⲣ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲉ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲧⲁⲥⲩⲛⲓⲇⲏⲥⲓⲥ ϩⲙ̅ⲟⲩⲡ̅ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ.
2 that there is great sorrow to me and incessant grief to my heart.
ⲃ̅ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̅ⲗⲩⲡⲏ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲓ̈ ⲙⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲙ̅ⲕⲁϩ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ⲁⲧⲱϫⲛ̅ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲁϩⲏⲧ.
3 For I would pray, that I myself might be an offering from Christ; in behalf of my brethren, my kindred according to the flesh:
ⲅ̅ⲛⲉⲓ̈ϣⲗⲏⲗ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲥ̅ⲧⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲁⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲛⲁⲥⲩⲅⲅⲉⲛⲏⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅
4 who are Israelites, of whom is the adoption of sons, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service, and the promises:
ⲇ̅ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓ̈ⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗⲓⲧⲏⲥ. ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲉ ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧϣⲏⲣⲉ. ⲙⲛ̅ⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ. ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲇⲓⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ. ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲛⲟⲙⲟⲑⲉⲥⲓⲁ. ⲙⲛ̅ⲡϣⲙ̅ϣⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲣⲏⲧ.
5 of whom are the fathers, and of whom is Christ according to the flesh. Who is over all, God blessed forever: amen. (aiōn g165)
ⲉ̅ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲉⲓⲟⲧⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅. ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧϩⲓϫⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ. ⲡⲉⲧⲥⲙⲁⲙⲁⲁⲧ ϣⲁⲛⲓⲉⲛⲉϩ ϩⲁⲙⲏⲛ· (aiōn g165)
6 But not as that the word of God has been a failure. For these are not all Israel who are of Israel;
ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲭⲟⲓⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥϩⲉ ⲛ̅ϭⲓⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲉⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲛⲉ ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ.
7 neither are the children all the seed of Abraham; but in Isaac shall thy seed be called;
ⲍ̅ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ϫⲉ ϩⲉⲛⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ ⲛⲉ ϩⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉⲩⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ.
8 that is the children of the flesh the same are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
ⲏ̅ⲉⲧⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲟⲡⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ.
9 For this is the word of the promise, About this time I will come, and there shall be a son to Sarah.
ⲑ̅ⲡⲉⲓ̈ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲁⲡⲉⲣⲏⲧ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲏⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲓⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲉ ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲣⲣⲁ.
10 Not only so; but Rebecca also having cohabitation of one, our father Isaac;
ⲓ̅ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲧⲕⲉϩⲣⲉⲃⲉⲕⲕⲁ. ⲉⲁⲥϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲁ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲕⲟⲧⲕ̅ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲉⲛⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲓ̈ⲥⲁⲁⲕ.
11 for the children not having been born, neither having done anything good or evil, in order that the purpose of God might stand according to election not of works, but of him that calleth,
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩϫⲡⲟⲟⲩ. ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩⲣ̅ϩⲱⲃ ⲛ̅ⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲛ. ⲏ̅ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ. ϫⲉⲕⲁⲁⲥ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲧⲱϣ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲟⲩⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲥⲱⲧⲡ̅ ⲙⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
12 and it was said to her, The elder shall serve the younger:
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲩⲉ ⲁⲛ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲧⲱϩⲙ̅. ⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲛⲟϭ ⲛⲁⲣ̅ϩⲙ̅ϩⲁⲗ ⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲟⲩⲓ̈.
13 as has been written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲓ̈ⲁⲕⲱⲃ ⲁⲓ̈ⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧϥ̅. ⲏ̅ⲥⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲓ̈ⲙⲉⲥⲧⲱϥ.
14 Then what shall we say? Is there unrighteousness with God? It could not be so.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲛⲁϫⲟⲟϥ ⲙⲏ ⲟⲩⲛ̅ϫⲓ ⲛ̅ϭⲟⲛⲥ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲉ.
15 For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I do have mercy, and I will commiserate whom I do commiserate.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ϣⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙ̅ⲙⲱⲩ̈ⲥⲏⲥ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲛⲁ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϯⲛⲁⲛⲁ ⲛⲁϥ. ⲧⲁϣⲛϩ̅ⲧⲏⲓ̈ ϩⲁⲡⲉϯⲛⲁϣⲛ̅ϩⲧⲏⲓ̈ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ.
16 Then it is not of him that willeth, nor him that runneth, but of God who shows mercy.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲁⲣⲁ ϭⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲡⲉⲧⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ. ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲡⲉⲧⲡⲏⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲁⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲛⲁ ⲡⲉ.
17 For the scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very thing have I raised you up, that I may show forth my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ϣⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙ̅ⲫⲁⲣⲁⲱ ϫⲉ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲁⲓ̈ⲧⲟⲩⲛⲟⲥⲕ̅ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓ̈ⲉⲟⲩⲉⲛϩ̅ⲧⲁϭⲟⲙ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ϩⲏⲧⲕ̅. ⲁⲩⲱ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩⲉϫⲱ ⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲁϩ ⲧⲏⲣϥ̅.
18 Then therefore he has mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardens.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲁⲣⲁ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉⲧϥ̅ⲟⲩⲁϣϥ̅ ⲡⲉϣⲁϥⲛⲁ ⲛⲁϥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧϥ̅ⲟⲩⲁϣϥ̅ ϣⲁϥϯⲛ̅ϣⲟⲧ ⲛⲁϥ.
19 Then thou wilt say to me, Why does he yet find fault? For who has resisted his will?
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲕⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲟϥ ϥϭⲛ̅ⲁⲣⲓⲕⲉ. ⲛⲓⲙ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲁϩⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ̅ ⲟⲩⲃⲉⲡⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ.
20 O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Whether shall the thing formed say to him that formed it. Why did you make me thus?
ⲕ̅ⲱ̅ ⲡⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲕ̅ⲛⲓⲙ ϩⲱⲱϥ ⲉⲟⲩⲱϣⲃ̅ ⲟⲩⲃⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲙⲏ ⲡⲉⲡⲗⲁⲥⲙⲁ ⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲡⲗⲁⲥⲥⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲁϩⲣⲟⲕ ⲁⲕⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲓ̈ϩⲉ.
21 Has not the potter the right of the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲏ̅ ⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲡⲕⲉⲣⲁⲙⲉⲩⲥⲧⲉⲝⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉⲧⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲓⲟⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲧ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩϩⲛⲁⲁⲩ ⲉⲩⲧⲁⲉⲓⲟ. ⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲩⲥⲱϣ.
22 But if God, wishing to show forth his indignation and make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of indignation having been perfected unto destruction:
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲉϣϫⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲟⲣⲅⲏ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲁⲙⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉϥϭⲟⲙ. ⲁϥⲉⲓⲛⲉ ϩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲙ̅ⲙⲛ̅ⲧϩⲁⲣϣ̅ϩⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲥⲕⲉⲩⲏ ⲛ̅ⲟⲣⲅⲏ ⲉⲩⲥⲃ̅ⲧⲱⲧ ⲉⲡⲧⲁⲕⲟ.
23 and in order that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he before prepared unto glory?
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲛ̅ⲧⲣⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲟ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉϥⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲉϫⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲥⲕⲉⲩⲏ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁ. ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲥⲃ̅ⲧⲱⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲓⲛⲛ̅ϣⲟⲣⲡ̅ ⲉⲡⲉⲟⲟⲩ.
24 whom he called, even us, not only of the Jews, but also of the Gentiles:
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥⲧⲁϩⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ. ⲟⲩⲙⲟⲛⲟⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲓ̈ⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ̈. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲕⲉϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ.
25 as he says in Hosea, I will call them my people, who are not my people; and her beloved, who is not beloved:
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉϣⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲱⲥⲏⲉ ϫⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲡⲉⲧⲉⲙ̅ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲁⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲧⲁⲙⲉⲣⲓⲧ.
26 and it shall come to pass, in the place in which it was said to them, You are not my people, there they shall be called the sons of the living God:
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲛⲥ̅ϣⲱⲡⲉ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲡⲁⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ̅.
27 but Isaiah cries out in behalf of Israel, Though the number of sons of Israel may be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲏ̅ⲥⲁⲓ̈ⲁⲥ ⲇⲉ ϫⲓϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲁⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ. ϫⲉ ⲉⲣϣⲁⲛⲧⲏⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲣ̅ⲑⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲱ ⲛ̅ⲑⲁⲗⲁⲥⲥⲁ ⲟⲩϣⲱϫⲡ̅ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ̈.
28 For perfecting the word and cutting it short, will the Lord do a complete work on the earth:
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲟⲩϣⲁϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥϣⲱⲱⲧ ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲁⲁⲁϥ ϩⲓϫⲙ̅ⲡⲕⲁϩ.
29 and as Isaiah has before spoken; Unless the Lord of Sabaoth left to us a seed, we would have become as Sodom, and would have been made like unto Gomorrah:
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲏ̅ⲥⲁⲓ̈ⲁⲥ ϫⲟⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲃⲏⲗ ϫⲉ ⲁⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲥⲁⲃⲁⲱⲑ ϣⲱϫⲡ̅ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲥⲡⲉⲣⲙⲁ. ⲛⲉⲛⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲥⲟⲇⲟⲙⲁ. ⲛ̅ⲧⲛ̅ⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲅⲟⲙⲟⲣⲣⲁ.
30 Then what shall we say? That the Gentiles, not pursuing righteousness, received righteousness, and the righteousness which is from faith:
ⲗ̅ⲉⲛⲛⲁϫⲟⲟⲥ ϭⲉ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ϫⲉⲛ̅ϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲛ̅ⲥⲉⲡⲏⲧ ⲁⲛ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲁⲩⲧⲁϩⲉⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ. ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ.
31 but Israel, following after the law, did not attain unto the law of righteousness.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲓⲥⲣⲁⲏⲗ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲡⲏⲧ ⲛ̅ⲥⲁⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲙ̅ⲡϥ̅ⲧⲁϩⲉⲡⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ.
32 Why? Because they sought it not from faith, but as it were from works: they stumbled over the stone of stumbling,
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲧⲡⲓⲥⲧⲓⲥ ⲁⲛ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲩϫⲱⲣⲡ̅ ⲉⲡⲱⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϫⲣⲟⲡ
33 as has been written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence: and he that believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲉⲧⲥⲏϩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲓⲥϩⲏⲏⲧⲉ ϯⲛⲁⲕⲱ ϩⲛ̅ⲥⲓⲱⲛ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲱⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ϫⲣⲟⲡ ⲙⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲡⲉⲧⲣⲁ ⲛ̅ⲥⲕⲁⲛⲇⲁⲗⲟⲛ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϥ̅ⲛⲁϫⲓϣⲓⲡⲉ ⲁⲛ.
