< Matthew 19 >

1 And it came to pass when Jesus finished these sermons, He departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea, beyond the Jordan.
And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the region of Judaea beyond Jordan;
2 And many multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there.
And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.
3 And the Pharisees came to Him, tempting Him, and saying to Him; Is it lawful for a man to send away his wife for any cause?
The Pharisees also came to him, tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
4 And He responding said to them, Have you not read, that the one having made them from the beginning made them male and female?
And he answered and said to them, Have ye not read, that he who made them at the beginning made them male and female,
5 And He said, On account of this a man shall leave father and mother, and cleave unto his wife; and they two shall be one flesh.
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they two shall be one flesh?
6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh: therefore what God joined together, let no man separate.
Therefore they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
7 They say to Him, Then why did Moses command to give a book of divorcement, and to send her away?
They say to him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
8 He says to them, Moses on account of the hardness of your heart permitted you to send away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
He saith to them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
9 But I say unto you, That whosoever may send away his wife, not for fornication, and may marry another, commits adultery.
And I say to you, Whoever shall put away his wife, except for immorality, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoever marrieth her who is put away committeth adultery.
10 His disciples say to Him, If the cause of a man with his wife is thus, it is better not to marry.
His disciples say to him, If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
11 And He said to them, All do not receive this word, but those to whom it has been given.
But he said to them, All men cannot receive this saying, except they to whom it is given.
12 For there are eunuchs, who have been so born from the womb of their mother. And there are eunuchs, who have been eunuchized by men: and there are eunuchs, who eunuchized themselves for the sake of the kingdom of the heavens. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.
For there are some eunuchs, who were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, who were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
13 Then little children were brought to Him, that He might put His hands on them, and pray. And the disciples rebuked them.
Then were brought to him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of the heavens.
But Jesus said, Permit the little children, and forbid them not, to come to me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
15 And putting His hands on them, he departed thence.
And he laid his hands on them, and departed from there.
16 Behold, one coming to Him said, Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do, in order that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
And, behold, one came and said to him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios g166)
17 And He said to him, Why do you ask me concerning the good One? One is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments.
And he said to him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He says to Him, What? And Jesus said to him, Thou shalt not murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt hot steal, thou shalt not bear false witness,
He saith to him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 The young man says to Him, All these have I kept from my youth: what lack I yet?
The young man saith to him, All these things have I kept from my youth: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said to him, If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Jesus said to him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 And the young man hearing the word, went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus said to His disciples, Truly I say unto you, that a rich man will hardly enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Then said Jesus to his disciples, Verily I say to you, That it is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to go into the kingdom of God.
And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
25 And the disciples hearing, were astonished exceedingly, saying, Who then is able to be saved?
When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
26 And Jesus looking on them said; With men this is impossible; but all things are possible with God.
But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
27 Then Peter responding said to Him, Behold, we have left all things, and followed Thee; what then shall be to us?
Then answered Peter and said to him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
28 And Jesus said to them, Truly I say unto you, that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man may sit upon the throne of His glory, you shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And Jesus said to them, Verily I say to you, That ye who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And every one who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, on account of my name, shall receive a hundred-fold, and inherit eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
30 But many who are first shall be last, and the last first.
But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
