< Mark 9 >

1 And He said to them, Truly I say unto you, that there are certain ones of those standing here, who may not taste of death, until they may see the kingdom of God, having come with power.
atha sa tAnavAdIt yuShmabhyamahaM yathArthaM kathayAmi, IshvararAjyaM parAkrameNopasthitaM na dR^iShTvA mR^ityuM nAsvAdiShyante, atra daNDAyamAnAnAM madhyepi tAdR^ishA lokAH santi|
2 After six days Jesus takes Peter, and John, and James, and carries them up into an exceedingly high mountain privately alone; and was transfigured before them:
atha ShaDdinebhyaH paraM yIshuH pitaraM yAkUbaM yohana ncha gR^ihItvA gireruchchasya nirjanasthAnaM gatvA teShAM pratyakShe mUrtyantaraM dadhAra|
3 and His raiment became resplendent, exceedingly white like snow; as no fuller on earth is able to whiten.
tatastasya paridheyam IdR^isham ujjvalahimapANaDaraM jAtaM yad jagati kopi rajako na tAdR^ik pANaDaraM karttAM shaknoti|
4 And Elijah was seen by them with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus.
apara ncha eliyo mUsAshcha tebhyo darshanaM dattvA yIshunA saha kathanaM karttumArebhAte|
5 And Peter responding says to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah:
tadA pitaro yIshumavAdIt he guro. asmAkamatra sthitiruttamA, tataeva vayaM tvatkR^ite ekAM mUsAkR^ite ekAm eliyakR^ite chaikAM, etAstisraH kuTI rnirmmAma|
6 for he did not know what he might say; for they were afraid.
kintu sa yaduktavAn tat svayaM na bubudhe tataH sarvve bibhayA nchakruH|
7 And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear ye Him.
etarhi payodastAn ChAdayAmAsa, mamayAM priyaH putraH kathAsu tasya manAMsi niveshayateti nabhovANI tanmedyAnniryayau|
8 And immediately looking around, they saw no one, but Jesus only with them.
atha haThAtte chaturdisho dR^iShTvA yIshuM vinA svaiH sahitaM kamapi na dadR^ishuH|
9 And they coming down from the mountain, He charged them, that they should relate to no one the things which they saw, until the Son of man may rise from the dead.
tataH paraM gireravarohaNakAle sa tAn gADham dUtyAdidesha yAvannarasUnoH shmashAnAdutthAnaM na bhavati, tAvat darshanasyAsya vArttA yuShmAbhiH kasmaichidapi na vaktavyA|
10 And they held the word to themselves, inquiring, what it is to rise from the dead.
tadA shmashAnAdutthAnasya kobhiprAya iti vichAryya te tadvAkyaM sveShu gopAyA nchakrire|
11 And they asked Him, saying, that the scribes say, that it behooves Elijah first to come.
atha te yIshuM paprachChuH prathamata eliyenAgantavyam iti vAkyaM kuta upAdhyAyA AhuH?
12 He responding said to them, Elijah indeed having first come, restores all things: and how has it been written in reference to the Son of man, that he should suffer many things, and be set at naught?
tadA sa pratyuvAcha, eliyaH prathamametya sarvvakAryyANi sAdhayiShyati; naraputre cha lipi ryathAste tathaiva sopi bahuduHkhaM prApyAvaj nAsyate|
13 But I say unto you, that Elijah indeed has come, and they did unto him so many things as they wished, as has been written in reference to him.
kintvahaM yuShmAn vadAmi, eliyArthe lipi ryathAste tathaiva sa etya yayau, lokA: svechChAnurUpaM tamabhivyavaharanti sma|
14 And having come to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them and the scribes disputing with them!
anantaraM sa shiShyasamIpametya teShAM chatuHpArshve taiH saha bahujanAn vivadamAnAn adhyApakAMshcha dR^iShTavAn;
15 And immediately the whole multitude, seeing Him, became excited, and running to Him, seized Him; and He asked the scribes,
kintu sarvvalokAstaM dR^iShTvaiva chamatkR^itya tadAsannaM dhAvantastaM praNemuH|
16 Why are you disputing with them?
tadA yIshuradhyApakAnaprAkShId etaiH saha yUyaM kiM vivadadhve?
17 And one responding from the multitude, said, Teacher, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit.
tato lokAnAM kashchidekaH pratyavAdIt he guro mama sUnuM mUkaM bhUtadhR^ita ncha bhavadAsannam AnayaM|
18 And when he may take him, he lacerates him: and he froths, and gnashes his teeth, and pines away. And I said to thy disciples, that they should cast him out; and they were not able.
yadAsau bhUtastamAkramate tadaiva pAtasati tathA sa pheNAyate, dantairdantAn gharShati kShINo bhavati cha; tato hetostaM bhUtaM tyAjayituM bhavachChiShyAn niveditavAn kintu te na shekuH|
19 And He responding to them, says, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? Bring him hither to me.
tadA sa tamavAdIt, re avishvAsinaH santAnA yuShmAbhiH saha kati kAlAnahaM sthAsyAmi? aparAn kati kAlAn vA va AchArAn sahiShye? taM madAsannamAnayata|
20 And they brought him to Him; and seeing Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him; and falling on the ground, he continued to wallow, foaming.
tatastatsannidhiM sa AnIyata kintu taM dR^iShTvaiva bhUto bAlakaM dhR^itavAn; sa cha bhUmau patitvA pheNAyamAno luloTha|
21 And He asked his father, How long is it since this occurred to him? And he said, from childhood:
tadA sa tatpitaraM paprachCha, asyedR^ishI dashA kati dinAni bhUtA? tataH sovAdIt bAlyakAlAt|
22 and frequently he cast him into the fire and into the waters, in order that he may destroy him: but if you are able to do anything, assist us, being moved with compassion towards us.
bhUtoyaM taM nAshayituM bahuvArAn vahnau jale cha nyakShipat kintu yadi bhavAna kimapi karttAM shaknoti tarhi dayAM kR^itvAsmAn upakarotu|
23 And Jesus said to him, It is this, if you are able (to believe); all things are possible to him that believeth.
tadA yIshustamavadat yadi pratyetuM shaknoShi tarhi pratyayine janAya sarvvaM sAdhyam|
24 And immediately the father of the child crying out with tears, continued to say, I believe; assist thou my unbelief.
tatastatkShaNaM tadbAlakasya pitA prochchai rUvan sAshrunetraH provAcha, prabho pratyemi mamApratyayaM pratikuru|
25 And Jesus seeing that the multitude are running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, Dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out from him, and enter no more into him.
atha yIshu rlokasa NghaM dhAvitvAyAntaM dR^iShTvA tamapUtabhUtaM tarjayitvA jagAda, re badhira mUka bhUta tvametasmAd bahirbhava punaH kadApi mAshrayainaM tvAmaham ityAdishAmi|
26 And crying out, and convulsing he came out. And he became like a corpse; so that many said, that, he is dead.
tadA sa bhUtashchItshabdaM kR^itvA tamApIDya bahirjajAma, tato bAlako mR^itakalpo babhUva tasmAdayaM mR^itaityaneke kathayAmAsuH|
27 And Jesus, taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he stood up.
kintu karaM dhR^itvA yIshunotthApitaH sa uttasthau|
28 And His disciples asked I Iim privately, having come into the house, Why were we not able to cast him out?
atha yIshau gR^ihaM praviShTe shiShyA guptaM taM paprachChuH, vayamenaM bhUtaM tyAjayituM kuto na shaktAH?
29 And He said unto them, This kind is able to come out by nothing, but by prayer.
sa uvAcha, prArthanopavAsau vinA kenApyanyena karmmaNA bhUtamIdR^ishaM tyAjayituM na shakyaM|
30 And they coming out thence, traveled through Galilee; and He was not willing that any one should know it.
anantaraM sa tatsthAnAditvA gAlIlmadhyena yayau, kintu tat kopi jAnIyAditi sa naichChat|
31 For He was teaching His disciples, and saying to them, The Son of man is betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and having been killed, He will rise again the third day.
apara ncha sa shiShyAnupadishan babhAShe, naraputro narahasteShu samarpayiShyate te cha taM haniShyanti taistasmin hate tR^itIyadine sa utthAsyatIti|
32 And they did not understand the word, and they were afraid to ask Him.
kintu tatkathAM te nAbudhyanta praShTu ncha bibhyaH|
33 And He came into Capernaum. And He being in the house asked them, What were you disputing about to one another in the way?
atha yIshuH kapharnAhUmpuramAgatya madhyegR^iha nchetya tAnapR^ichChad vartmamadhye yUyamanyonyaM kiM vivadadhve sma?
34 And they were silent: for they were disputing to one another in the way, who was the greater.
kintu te niruttarAstasthu ryasmAtteShAM ko mukhya iti vartmAni te. anyonyaM vyavadanta|
35 And sitting down, He called the twelve; and says to them, If any one wishes to be first, he shall be last of all, and servant of all.
tataH sa upavishya dvAdashashiShyAn AhUya babhAShe yaH kashchit mukhyo bhavitumichChati sa sarvvebhyo gauNaH sarvveShAM sevakashcha bhavatu|
36 And taking a little child, He placed it in their midst; and taking it up in His arms, He said to them,
tadA sa bAlakamekaM gR^ihItvA madhye samupAveshayat tatastaM kroDe kR^itvA tAnavAdAt
37 Whosoever may receive one of such little children in my name, receives me: and whosoever may receive me, receives not me, but Him that sent me.
yaH kashchidIdR^ishasya kasyApi bAlasyAtithyaM karoti sa mamAtithyaM karoti; yaH kashchinmamAtithyaM karoti sa kevalam mamAtithyaM karoti tanna matprerakasyApyAtithyaM karoti|
38 And John responded to Him saying, Teacher, we saw one casting out demons in Thy name, who does not follow us; and we forbade him, because he does not follow us.
atha yohan tamabravIt he guro, asmAkamananugAminam ekaM tvAnnAmnA bhUtAn tyAjayantaM vayaM dR^iShTavantaH, asmAkamapashchAdgAmitvAchcha taM nyaShedhAma|
39 And Jesus said, Forbid him not. For there is no one who shall do a miracle in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.
kintu yIshuravadat taM mA niShedhat, yato yaH kashchin mannAmnA chitraM karmma karoti sa sahasA mAM nindituM na shaknoti|
40 For whosoever is not against us, is on our side.
tathA yaH kashchid yuShmAkaM vipakShatAM na karoti sa yuShmAkameva sapakShaH|
41 For whosoever may give you a cup of water in my name, because you are Christ's, truly I say unto you, can not lose his reward.
yaH kashchid yuShmAn khrIShTashiShyAn j nAtvA mannAmnA kaMsaikena pAnIyaM pAtuM dadAti, yuShmAnahaM yathArthaM vachmi, sa phalena va nchito na bhaviShyati|
42 Whosoever may offend one of these little ones who believe in me, rather is it good for him, if a millstone is hung about his neck, and he may be cast into the sea.
kintu yadi kashchin mayi vishvAsinAmeShAM kShudraprANinAm ekasyApi vighnaM janayati, tarhi tasyaitatkarmma karaNAt kaNThabaddhapeShaNIkasya tasya sAgarAgAdhajala majjanaM bhadraM|
43 And if thy hand may offend thee, cut it off: it is good for thee to go into life maimed, rather than having two hands to go away into hell, into the fire that can not be quenched. (Geenna g1067)
ataH svakaro yadi tvAM bAdhate tarhi taM Chindhi;
yasmAt yatra kITA na mriyante vahnishcha na nirvvAti, tasmin anirvvANAnalanarake karadvayavastava gamanAt karahInasya svargapraveshastava kShemaM| (Geenna g1067)
45 If thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is good for thee to go into life lame, rather than have two feet to be cast into hell. (Geenna g1067)
yadi tava pAdo vighnaM janayati tarhi taM Chindhi,
yato yatra kITA na mriyante vahnishcha na nirvvAti, tasmin. anirvvANavahnau narake dvipAdavatastava nikShepAt pAdahInasya svargapraveshastava kShemaM| (Geenna g1067)
47 If thine eye may offend thee, cast it from thee: it is good for thee entering into the kingdom of God having one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell; (Geenna g1067)
svanetraM yadi tvAM bAdhate tarhi tadapyutpATaya, yato yatra kITA na mriyante vahnishcha na nirvvAti,
48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
tasmina. anirvvANavahnau narake dvinetrasya tava nikShepAd ekanetravata IshvararAjye praveshastava kShemaM| (Geenna g1067)
49 For every one shall be salted with fire.
yathA sarvvo bali rlavaNAktaH kriyate tathA sarvvo jano vahnirUpeNa lavaNAktaH kAriShyate|
50 Salt is good: but if the salt may become savorless, with what will you salt it? Have salt in yourselves, and live in peace with one another.
lavaNaM bhadraM kintu yadi lavaNe svAdutA na tiShThati, tarhi katham AsvAdyuktaM kariShyatha? yUyaM lavaNayuktA bhavata parasparaM prema kuruta|
