1 And when they draw nigh to Jerusalem and to Bethany, to the Mount of Olives, He sends away two of His disciples,
anantaraM tESu yirUzAlamaH samIpasthayO rbaitphagIbaithanIyapurayOrantikasthaM jaitunanAmAdrimAgatESu yIzuH prESaNakAlE dvau ziSyAvidaM vAkyaM jagAda,
2 and says to them, Go into the village over against you: and immediately entering into it, you will find a colt tied, on which no one of men has ever sat; loosing him, lead him away.
yuvAmamuM sammukhasthaM grAmaM yAtaM, tatra pravizya yO naraM nAvahat taM garddabhazAvakaM drakSyathastaM mOcayitvAnayataM|
3 And if any one may say to you, Why do you this? say to him, that the Lord hath need of him; and immediately he sends him hither.
kintu yuvAM karmmEdaM kutaH kuruthaH? kathAmimAM yadi kOpi pRcchati tarhi prabhOratra prayOjanamastIti kathitE sa zIghraM tamatra prESayiSyati|
4 Then they departed, and found the colt tied at the door without at the crossing of the road; and they are loosing him.
tatastau gatvA dvimArgamElanE kasyacid dvArasya pArzvE taM garddabhazAvakaM prApya mOcayataH,
5 And certain ones of those standing there said to them, What are you doing, loosing the colt?
Etarhi tatrOpasthitalOkAnAM kazcid apRcchat, garddabhazizuM kutO mOcayathaH?
6 And they said to them as Jesus commanded: and they permitted them.
tadA yIzOrAjnjAnusArENa tEbhyaH pratyuditE tatkSaNaM tamAdAtuM tE'nujajnjuH|
7 And they lead the colt to Jesus, and cast their garments on him; and He sat on him.
atha tau yIzOH sannidhiM garddabhazizum AnIya tadupari svavastrANi pAtayAmAsatuH; tataH sa tadupari samupaviSTaH|
8 And many strewed their garments in the road; and others were cutting down the branches of the trees, (and strewing them in the road),
tadAnEkE pathi svavAsAMsi pAtayAmAsuH, paraizca taruzAkhAzchitavA mArgE vikIrNAH|
9 And those going before, and those following after, continued to cry out, Hosanna: blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord:
aparanjca pazcAdgAminO'gragAminazca sarvvE janA ucaiHsvarENa vaktumArEbhirE, jaya jaya yaH paramEzvarasya nAmnAgacchati sa dhanya iti|
10 blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David: Hosanna in the highest!
tathAsmAkamaM pUrvvapuruSasya dAyUdO yadrAjyaM paramEzvaranAmnAyAti tadapi dhanyaM, sarvvasmAducchrAyE svargE Izvarasya jayO bhavEt|
11 And He came into Jerusalem, into the temple; and looking round upon all things, the hour being already late, He went out into Bethany along with the twelve.
itthaM yIzu ryirUzAlami mandiraM pravizya caturdiksthAni sarvvANi vastUni dRSTavAn; atha sAyaMkAla upasthitE dvAdazaziSyasahitO baithaniyaM jagAma|
12 And on the morrow, they going out from Bethany, He was hungry.
aparEhani baithaniyAd AgamanasamayE kSudhArttO babhUva|
13 And seeing a fig-tree at a distance, having leaves, He came, if perchance He shall find something on it: and having come to it, He found nothing except leaves; for it was not the time of the figs.
tatO dUrE sapatramuPumbarapAdapaM vilOkya tatra kinjcit phalaM prAptuM tasya sannikRSTaM yayau, tadAnIM phalapAtanasya samayO nAgacchati| tatastatrOpasthitaH patrANi vinA kimapyaparaM na prApya sa kathitavAn,
14 And responding He said to it, Let no one ever eat fruit from thee. And His disciples heard Him. (aiōn g165)
adyArabhya kOpi mAnavastvattaH phalaM na bhunjjIta; imAM kathAM tasya ziSyAH zuzruvuH| (aiōn g165)
15 And they come into Jerusalem: and He having come into the temple, began to cast out the buyers and sellers in the temple, and He overturned the tables of the money-exchangers, and the seats of those selling doves;
tadanantaraM tESu yirUzAlamamAyAtESu yIzu rmandiraM gatvA tatrasthAnAM baNijAM mudrAsanAni pArAvatavikrEtRNAm AsanAni ca nyubjayAnjcakAra sarvvAn krEtRn vikrEtRMzca bahizcakAra|
16 and He did not suffer that any one should carry a vessel through the temple.
aparaM mandiramadhyEna kimapi pAtraM vOPhuM sarvvajanaM nivArayAmAsa|
17 And He was teaching, saying to them, Is it not written, That my house shall be called a house of prayer for all the Gentiles? But you have made it a den of thieves.
lOkAnupadizan jagAda, mama gRhaM sarvvajAtIyAnAM prArthanAgRham iti nAmnA prathitaM bhaviSyati Etat kiM zAstrE likhitaM nAsti? kintu yUyaM tadEva cOrANAM gahvaraM kurutha|
18 And the scribes and high priests heard Him, seeking how they might destroy Him: for they feared Him, because all the multitude were delighted with His teaching.
imAM vANIM zrutvAdhyApakAH pradhAnayAjakAzca taM yathA nAzayituM zaknuvanti tathOpAyaM mRgayAmAsuH, kintu tasyOpadEzAt sarvvE lOkA vismayaM gatA atastE tasmAd bibhyuH|
19 And when it was evening, He departed out of the city.
atha sAyaMsamaya upasthitE yIzurnagarAd bahirvavrAja|
20 And going along in the morning, they saw the fig-tree utterly withered from the roots.
anantaraM prAtaHkAlE tE tEna mArgENa gacchantastamuPumbaramahIruhaM samUlaM zuSkaM dadRzuH|
21 And Peter remembering says to Him, Master, behold, the fig-tree which thou didst execrate is withered away.
tataH pitaraH pUrvvavAkyaM smaran yIzuM babhASaM, hE gurO pazyatu ya uPumbaraviTapI bhavatA zaptaH sa zuSkO babhUva|
22 And Jesus responding says to them, Have God's faith.
tatO yIzuH pratyavAdIt, yUyamIzvarE vizvasita|
23 Truly I say unto you, That whosoever may say to this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea; and may not doubt in his heart, but believe that what he says does take place; it shall be unto him.
yuSmAnahaM yathArthaM vadAmi kOpi yadyEtadgiriM vadati, tvamutthAya gatvA jaladhau pata, prOktamidaM vAkyamavazyaM ghaTiSyatE, manasA kimapi na sandihya cEdidaM vizvasEt tarhi tasya vAkyAnusArENa tad ghaTiSyatE|
24 Therefore I say unto you, All things whatsoever you pray for and ask, believe that you just now received them, and they shall be unto you.
atO hEtOrahaM yuSmAn vacmi, prArthanAkAlE yadyadAkAMkSiSyadhvE tattadavazyaM prApsyatha, itthaM vizvasita, tataH prApsyatha|
25 And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have aught against any one; in order that your Father who is in the heavens may forgive you your trespasses.
aparanjca yuSmAsu prArthayituM samutthitESu yadi kOpi yuSmAkam aparAdhI tiSThati, tarhi taM kSamadhvaM, tathA kRtE yuSmAkaM svargasthaH pitApi yuSmAkamAgAMmi kSamiSyatE|
kintu yadi na kSamadhvE tarhi vaH svargasthaH pitApi yuSmAkamAgAMsi na kSamiSyatE|
27 They come again into Jerusalem. And He walking round in the temple, the high priests, and scribes, and elders come to Him;
anantaraM tE puna ryirUzAlamaM pravivizuH, yIzu ryadA madhyEmandiram itastatO gacchati, tadAnIM pradhAnayAjakA upAdhyAyAH prAnjcazca tadantikamEtya kathAmimAM papracchuH,
28 and they said to Him, By what authority are you doing these things? and who gave you this authority that you may do them?
tvaM kEnAdEzEna karmmANyEtAni karOSi? tathaitAni karmmANi karttAM kEnAdiSTOsi?
29 And Jesus said to them, I will ask you one word, and you respond to me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things:
tatO yIzuH pratigaditavAn ahamapi yuSmAn EkakathAM pRcchAmi, yadi yUyaM tasyA uttaraM kurutha, tarhi kayAjnjayAhaM karmmANyEtAni karOmi tad yuSmabhyaM kathayiSyAmi|
30 Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? answer me.
yOhanO majjanam IzvarAt jAtaM kiM mAnavAt? tanmahyaM kathayata|
31 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we may say, It is from heaven; He will say, Why did you not believe on him?
tE parasparaM vivEktuM prArEbhirE, tad IzvarAd babhUvEti cEd vadAmastarhi kutastaM na pratyaita? kathamEtAM kathayiSyati|
32 But if we may say, From men; they feared the people: for all held John that he was a prophet.
mAnavAd abhavaditi cEd vadAmastarhi lOkEbhyO bhayamasti yatO hEtOH sarvvE yOhanaM satyaM bhaviSyadvAdinaM manyantE|
33 And responding they say to Jesus, We do not know. And Jesus says to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
ataEva tE yIzuM pratyavAdiSu rvayaM tad vaktuM na zaknumaH| yIzuruvAca, tarhi yEnAdEzEna karmmANyEtAni karOmi, ahamapi yuSmabhyaM tanna kathayiSyAmi|
