Luke 20
1 And it came to pass, on one of those days, He teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, the priests, and scribes, along with the elders stood up against Him;
ある日、イエスが宮で人々に教え、福音を宣べておられると、祭司長や律法学者たちが、長老たちと共に近寄ってきて、
2 and they spoke to Him, saying, Tell us by what authority you are doing these things? Who is the one having given you this authority?
イエスに言った、「何の権威によってこれらの事をするのですか。そうする権威をあなたに与えたのはだれですか、わたしたちに言ってください」。
3 And responding He said to them, I will ask you one word; and you tell me:
そこで、イエスは答えて言われた、「わたしも、ひと言たずねよう。それに答えてほしい。
4 Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men?
ヨハネのバプテスマは、天からであったか、人からであったか」。
5 And they reason among themselves saying, If we may say it is from heaven; He will say, Why did you not believe on him?
彼らは互に論じて言った、「もし天からだと言えば、では、なぜ彼を信じなかったのか、とイエスは言うだろう。
6 And if we may say, From men; all the people will stone us: for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.
しかし、もし人からだと言えば、民衆はみな、ヨハネを預言者だと信じているから、わたしたちを石で打つだろう」。
7 And they responded, We do not know whence it is.
それで彼らは「どこからか、知りません」と答えた。
8 And Jesus said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
イエスはこれに対して言われた、「わたしも何の権威によってこれらの事をするのか、あなたがたに言うまい」。
9 And He began to speak to the people this parable, A man planted a vineyard and gave it out to husbandmen, and went away a long time.
そこでイエスは次の譬を民衆に語り出された、「ある人がぶどう園を造って農夫たちに貸し、長い旅に出た。
10 And in season he sent a servant to the husbandmen that they might give to him of the fruit of the vineyard, and the husbandmen beating him, sent him away empty.
季節になったので、農夫たちのところへ、ひとりの僕を送って、ぶどう園の収穫の分け前を出させようとした。ところが、農夫たちは、その僕を袋だたきにし、から手で帰らせた。
11 And he proceeded to send to them another servant, and they beating and dishonoring him sent him away empty.
そこで彼はもうひとりの僕を送った。彼らはその僕も袋だたきにし、侮辱を加えて、から手で帰らせた。
12 And he proceeded to send a third: and wounding him, they cast him out also.
そこで更に三人目の者を送ったが、彼らはこの者も、傷を負わせて追い出した。
13 And the lord of the vineyard said, What shall I do? I will send my own beloved son: perchance seeing, they will reverence him.
ぶどう園の主人は言った、『どうしようか。そうだ、わたしの愛子をつかわそう。これなら、たぶん敬ってくれるだろう』。
14 And the husbandmen, seeing him, reasoned among themselves saying, This is the heir; let us kill him, in order that the inheritance may be ours.
ところが、農夫たちは彼を見ると、『あれはあと取りだ。あれを殺してしまおう。そうしたら、その財産はわれわれのものになるのだ』と互に話し合い、
15 And casting him out from the vineyard they slew him; what then will the lord of the vineyard do?
彼をぶどう園の外に追い出して殺した。そのさい、ぶどう園の主人は、彼らをどうするだろうか。
16 He will come and destroy those husbandmen, and will give the vineyard to others. And hearing, they said, Let it not be so.
彼は出てきて、この農夫たちを殺し、ぶどう園を他の人々に与えるであろう」。人々はこれを聞いて、「そんなことがあってはなりません」と言った。
17 And looking upon them, He said, What is that which has been written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same has come to be the head of the corner.
そこで、イエスは彼らを見つめて言われた、「それでは、『家造りらの捨てた石が隅のかしら石になった』と書いてあるのは、どういうことか。
18 Every one having fallen on that stone will be dashed to pieces; and on whomsoever it may fall, it will grind him to powder.
すべてその石の上に落ちる者は打ち砕かれ、それがだれかの上に落ちかかるなら、その人はこなみじんにされるであろう」。
19 And the chief priests and scribes sought to lay hands on Him at this hour, and feared the people; for they knew that He spoke this parable against them.
このとき、律法学者たちや祭司長たちはイエスに手をかけようと思ったが、民衆を恐れた。いまの譬が自分たちに当てて語られたのだと、悟ったからである。
20 And laying in wait for Him, they sent sharpers, feigning themselves to be righteous, that they might catch his word, in order to turn Him over to the government and authority of the proconsul.
そこで、彼らは機会をうかがい、義人を装うまわし者どもを送って、イエスを総督の支配と権威とに引き渡すため、その言葉じりを捕えさせようとした。
21 They asked Him saying, Teacher, we know that thou dost speak and teach correctly; and thou dost not receive the face; but thou dost teach the way of God in truth:
彼らは尋ねて言った、「先生、わたしたちは、あなたの語り教えられることが正しく、また、あなたは分け隔てをなさらず、真理に基いて神の道を教えておられることを、承知しています。
22 is it lawful for us give tribute to Caesar, or not?
ところで、カイザルに貢を納めてよいでしょうか、いけないでしょうか」。
23 And He knowing their rascality, said to them, Why tempt ye me?
イエスは彼らの悪巧みを見破って言われた、
24 Show me the denarion. Whose image and superscription has it? And they responding said, Caesar's.
「デナリを見せなさい。それにあるのは、だれの肖像、だれの記号なのか」。「カイザルのです」と、彼らが答えた。
25 And He said to them, Therefore render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things which are God's.
するとイエスは彼らに言われた、「それなら、カイザルのものはカイザルに、神のものは神に返しなさい」。
26 And they were not able to criticise His word before the people: and being astonished at His answer, they were silent.
そこで彼らは、民衆の前でイエスの言葉じりを捕えることができず、その答に驚嘆して、黙ってしまった。
27 And certain ones of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, coming forward asked Him,
復活ということはないと言い張っていたサドカイ人のある者たちが、イエスに近寄ってきて質問した、
28 saying, Teacher, Moses wrote to us, That if the brother of any one may die having a wife, and the same may die childless, that his brother must take his wife and raise up seed to his brother.
「先生、モーセは、わたしたちのためにこう書いています、『もしある人の兄が妻をめとり、子がなくて死んだなら、弟はこの女をめとって、兄のために子をもうけねばならない』。
29 Then there were seven brothers; and the first receiving a wife died childless.
ところで、ここに七人の兄弟がいました。長男は妻をめとりましたが、子がなくて死に、
30 And the second
そして次男、三男と、次々に、その女をめとり、
31 and the third received her, and likewise also the seven; they left no children and died.
七人とも同様に、子をもうけずに死にました。
32 Last of all the woman also died.
のちに、その女も死にました。
33 Therefore in the resurrection of which one of them is she the wife? for the seven had her a wife.
さて、復活の時には、この女は七人のうち、だれの妻になるのですか。七人とも彼女を妻にしたのですが」。
34 And responding Jesus said to them, The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage, (aiōn g165)
イエスは彼らに言われた、「この世の子らは、めとったり、とついだりするが、 (aiōn g165)
35 but those counted worthy to attain that age and the resurrection, which is from the dead, (aiōn g165)
かの世にはいって死人からの復活にあずかるにふさわしい者たちは、めとったり、とついだりすることはない。 (aiōn g165)
36 neither marry nor are given in marriage; for they are not able yet to die; for they are like the angels, and sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
彼らは天使に等しいものであり、また復活にあずかるゆえに、神の子でもあるので、もう死ぬことはあり得ないからである。
37 But that the dead are raised, Moses also mentioned at the Bush, when he says; The Lord, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
死人がよみがえることは、モーセも柴の篇で、主を『アブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神』と呼んで、これを示した。
38 He is not the God of the dead but of the living; for all live unto Him.
神は死んだ者の神ではなく、生きている者の神である。人はみな神に生きるものだからである」。
39 And certain of the scribes responding said; Teacher, you spoke beautifully.
律法学者のうちのある人々が答えて言った、「先生、仰せのとおりです」。
40 And they no longer dared to ask Him anything.
彼らはそれ以上何もあえて問いかけようとしなかった。
41 And He said to them; How do they say that the Christ is the son of David?
イエスは彼らに言われた、「どうして人々はキリストをダビデの子だと言うのか。
42 And David himself says in the Book of the Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
ダビデ自身が詩篇の中で言っている、『主はわが主に仰せになった、
43 until I may make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.
あなたの敵をあなたの足台とする時までは、わたしの右に座していなさい』。
44 Therefore David calls Him Lord, and how is He his son?
このように、ダビデはキリストを主と呼んでいる。それなら、どうしてキリストはダビデの子であろうか」。
45 And all the people hearing, He said to His disciples,
民衆がみな聞いているとき、イエスは弟子たちに言われた、
46 Beware of the scribes, wishing to walk about in robes, and loving salutations in the forums, and the first seats in the synagogues, and the first couches at the suppers,
「律法学者に気をつけなさい。彼らは長い衣を着て歩くのを好み、広場での敬礼や会堂の上席や宴会の上座をよろこび、
47 Who devour the houses of the widows, and pray long through pretext; they shall receive the greater judgment.
やもめたちの家を食い倒し、見えのために長い祈をする。彼らはもっときびしいさばきを受けるであろう」。
