< Luke 16 >
1 And He also spoke to His disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and he was slandered to him as wasting his goods.
Awo Yesu n’agamba abayigirizwa be nti, “Waaliwo omusajja omugagga ng’alina omuwanika we amulabiririra ebintu bye. Ne wabaawo abaamuloopera nti omuwanika oyo yali asaasaanya ebintu bye, ng’abidiibuuda.
2 And having called him, he said to him, What is this which I hear concerning thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou art not able to be steward any longer.
Mukama we n’amuyita n’amubuuza nti, ‘Biki ebyo bye nkuwulirako? Kale genda otegeke lipoota y’ebintu byange nga bwe biri ogindeetere. Omulimu gukufudde.’
3 And the steward said within himself, What shall I do, because my lord takes away my stewardship from me? I am not able to dig; I am ashamed to beg.
“Omuwanika n’alowooza mu mutima gwe, nga yeebuuza nti, ‘Kale kaakano nkole ntya? Mukama wange wuuno angoba ku mulimu. Sirina maanyi galima, n’okusabiriza kunkwasa ensonyi.
4 I know what I shall do, in order that when I am deposed from the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
Ekinaasobozesa abantu okunsembeza mu maka gaabwe, nga bwe ngobeddwa ku mulimu, nkifunye.’
5 And calling each one of the debtors of his lord, he said to the first, How much do you owe my lord?
“N’agenda ng’ayita buli eyalina ebbanja ku mukama we. Gwe yasookerako n’amubuuza nti, ‘Ebbanja mukama wange ly’akubanja lyenkana wa obunene?’”
6 And he said; A hundred measures of oil. And he said to him, Take your accounts, and sitting down quickly write fifty.
“Omusajja n’addamu nti, ‘Ammanja endebe z’omuzigo kikumi mu ataano.’ Omuwanika n’amugamba nti, ‘Kwako empapula zo kw’obanjirwa ogende owandiike endebe amakumi ataano.’
7 Then he said to another one, And how much do you owe? And he said, A hundred measures of wheat. He says to him, Take your account, and write fourscore.
“Omuwanika n’adda ku wookubiri n’amubuuza nti, ‘Ggwe obanjibwa ki?’ “N’addamu nti, ‘Ebigera by’obuwunga bw’eŋŋaano kikumi.’” “Omuwanika n’amugamba nti, ‘Kwako empapula zo kw’obanjirwa, owandiike endala osseeko ebigera kinaana.’
8 And the lord praised the steward of unrighteousness because he acted shrewdly: because the sons of this age are wiser in their generation than the sons of the light. (aiōn )
“Mukama we n’atenda nnyo omuwanika we atali mwesigwa olw’obukalabakalaba bwe. Kubanga abaana b’omulembe guno bagezigezi okusinga abaana b’omusana ab’omu mulembe gwabwe.” (aiōn )
9 And I say unto you, Make unto yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness, in order that, when it may fail, they may receive you into eternal tabernacles. (aiōnios )
“Era mbategeeza nti mwefunire emikwano mu bugagga obutali butuukirivu, bwe buliggwaawo balyoke babasembeze mu weema ezitaggwaawo. (aiōnios )
10 He that is faithful in the least is also faithful in much: and he that is unrighteous in the least is unrighteous in much.
Omuntu omwesigwa mu kintu ekitono, abeera mwesigwa ne mu kinene; n’oyo ataba mwesigwa mu kitono era ne mu kinene taba mwesigwa.
11 If therefore you were not faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will intrust to you the true?
Kale obanga temwesigibwa mu bugagga obutali butuukirivu, ani agenda okubeesiga mu bugagga obw’amazima?
12 If you were not faithful in the interest of another, who will give you your own?
Obanga toli mwesigwa ku by’omulala, kale ani alikwesiga n’akukwasa ebibyo?
13 No servant is able to serve two masters: for he will hate the one, and love the other; or he will cleave to the one, and despise the other. You are not able to serve God and mammon.
“Tewali muddu ayinza kuweereza bakulu babiri. Kubanga alikyawako omu n’ayagala omulala, oba aliwulirako omu n’anyooma omulala. Toyinza kuweereza Katonda na mamona.”
14 And the Pharisees, being avaricious, were hearing all these things, and murmuring against Him.
Awo Abafalisaayo, abaali abaluvu b’ensimbi, bwe baawulira ebigambo ebyo ne banyooma Yesu.
15 And He said to them, Ye are those who justify yourselves before the people; but God knows your hearts: because that which is exalted among the people is abomination in the sight of God.
N’abagamba nti, “Mmwe mweraga mu bantu, naye Katonda amanyi emitima gyammwe. Okwerimbalimba kwammwe kubaweesa ekitiibwa mu maaso g’abantu, naye nga kya muzizo eri Katonda.
16 The law and the prophets were until John: from that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every one presses into it.
“Yokaana Omubatiza bwe yali nga tannabuulira, amateeka n’obubaka bwa bannabbi byabuulirwa. Naye okuva olwo obwakabaka bwa Katonda bubuulirwa, ne buli muntu ayitibwa abuyingiremu mu bwangu ddala.
17 And it is easier that heaven and earth pass away, than one tittle fall from the law.
Naye kyangu eggulu n’ensi okuggwaawo okusinga n’akatundu k’ennukuta emu ey’amateeka okuggwaawo.
18 Every one sending away his wife, and marrying another, commits adultery; and the one marrying her who has been sent away by her husband commits adultery.
“Omusajja yenna agoba mukazi we n’awasa omulala aba ayenze; n’oyo awasa omukazi agobeddwa, naye aba ayenze.”
19 There was a certain rich man, and he was habitually clothed in purple and fine linen, faring sumptuously every day.
Awo Yesu n’abagamba nti, “Waaliwo omusajja omugagga ennyo, eyayambalanga engoye ez’effulungu ne linena era bulijjo ng’abeera mu masanyu era ng’alya ebyassava.
20 But a certain beggar, Lazarus by name, was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Waaliwo n’omusajja omwavu erinnya lye nga ye Laazaalo nga mulwadde ng’ajjudde amabwa ku mubiri gwe, eyateekebwanga ku mulyango gw’omusajja omugagga.
21 and desiring to be fed by the crumbs falling from the table of the rich man; but the dogs also coming continued to lick his sores.
Laazaalo ne yeegombanga okulya obukunkumuka obwagwanga wansi nga buva ku mmeeza ya nnaggagga. N’embwa zajjanga ne zikomberera amabwa ga Laazaalo.
22 And it came to pass that the beggar died, and himself was carried by the angels into the bosom of Abraham: and the rich man also died, and was buried.
“Ekiseera kyatuuka omusajja omwavu n’afa, bamalayika ne bamutwala mu kifuba kya Ibulayimu. Oluvannyuma n’omugagga naye n’afa, n’aziikibwa.
23 And in Hades lifted up his eyes, being in torment, sees Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs )
Naye ng’ali eyo mu magombe mu kubonaabona, n’atunula waggulu n’alaba Laazaalo ng’ali mu kifuba kya Ibulayimu. (Hadēs )
24 And he calling said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue, because I am tormented in this flame.
N’akoowoola nti, ‘Kitange Ibulayimu, nsaasira, ontumire Laazaalo oyo annyike olugalo Lwe mu mazzi, nkombeko, naye olulimi lumbabuukirira nnyo mu muliro guno ogumbonyaabonya!’
25 But Abraham said, Child, remember that you received your good things in your life, and Lazarus likewise evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented.
“Naye Ibulayimu n’amuddamu nti, ‘Mwana wange, jjukira nga mu biseera byo ng’okyali mulamu wafuna ebirungi bye weetaaganga, naye nga Laazaalo ye afuna bibi. Kaakano Laazaalo asanyusibwa naye gwe oli mu kubonaabona.
26 And in addition to all these things, there is a great gulf fixed between us and you, in order that those wishing to go hence to you may not be able, neither can they come thence to us.
Ate n’ekirala, wakati waffe nammwe waliwo olukonko luwanvu nnyo olutwawula, omuntu ali eno bw’ayagala okujja eyo akoma awo ku mugo gwalwo, n’oyo ali eyo ayagala okujja eno tasobola.’
27 And he said, Moreover I intreat you, father, that you may send him to the house of my father:
“Awo nnaggagga n’ayaziirana nti, ‘Ayi kitange Ibulayimu, nkwegayiridde ntumira Laazaalo oyo mu maka ga kitange,
28 for I have five brothers; in order that he may testify to them, that they may not also come to this place of the torment.
kubanga nninayo abooluganda bataano, abandabulire, bwe balifa baleme kujja mu kifo kino ekirimu okubonaabona okwenkanidde wano.’
29 But Abraham says, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Naye Ibulayimu n’amugamba nti, ‘Balina Musa ne bannabbi, kale bawulire abo.’
30 But he said, No, father Abraham: but if one may go to them from the dead, they will repent.
“Omugagga n’addamu nti, ‘Nedda, kitange Ibulayimu, singa batumirwa omuntu ng’ava mu bafu, bajja kwenenya.’
31 But he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded if one may rise from the dead.
“Awo Ibulayimu n’amugamba nti, ‘Obanga tebagondera Musa ne bannabbi, newaakubadde alizuukira okuva mu bafu talibakkirizisa.’”
