< John 2 >

1 On the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 and Jesus and His disciples were invited to the marriage.
3 And they had no wine, because the wine of the marriage was exhausted. Then the mother of Jesus says to Him, There is no wine.
4 And Jesus says to her, What is that to me and to thee? O woman, my hour is not yet come.
5 His mother says to the servants, Do whatsoever He may say to you.
6 And there were six waterpots of stone sitting there according to the purification of the Jews, containing about two or three firkins. Jesus says to them,
Seal lähedal seisis kuus kivianumat, mida juudid kasutasid tseremoniaalsel pesemisel, igaüks neist mahutas ligi sada liitrit.
7 Fill the waterpots with water. They filled them to the brim.
„Täitke anumad veega, “ütles Jeesus neile. Nad täitsid need kohe.
8 And He says to them, Now draw out and carry to the chief ruler of the feast,
Seejärel ütles ta neile: „Valage veidi välja ja viige see pulmavanemale.“Nad viisidki talle veidi proovida.
9 and they brought it to him. And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water, having been made wine, and did not know whence it is (but the servants having drawn the water knew), the ruler calls the groom,
10 and says to him, Every man first sets forth the good wine; and when they have drunk freely, the inferior: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
Kuid sina oled parima veini lõpuks hoidnud!“
11 Jesus did this, the beginning of miracles, in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.
12 After this He and His mother, and His brothers and His disciples went down into Capernaum, and abode there not many days.
13 And the passover of the Jews were nigh, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Kuna oli peaaegu juutide paasapüha aeg, läks Jeesus Jeruusalemma.
14 And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting:
15 and having made a scourge of cords, He cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the money of the exchangers, and over-turned the tables.
16 And He said to those selling doves; Take these things hence, make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.
Ta käskis tuvimüüjaid: „Viige need asjad siit ära! Ärge muutke mu Isa koda turuplatsiks!“
17 And His disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house doth eat me up.
Tema jüngritele meenusid Pühakirja sõnad: „Kiindumus sinu kojasse on mu sees nagu kõrvetav tuli!“
18 Then the Jews responded and said to Him, What sign do you show us, because you do these things?
Juudi juhid võtsid seepeale sõna ja küsisid talt: „Mis õigus on sul seda teha? Näita selle tõendamiseks mõnd tunnustähte!“
19 Jesus responded and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will rear it up.
20 Then the Jews said, Forty and six years was this temple being built, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But He spoke concerning the temple of His body.
22 Then when He arose from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said these things, and believed the Scripture and words which Jesus spoke.
23 And when He was in Jerusalem at the feast, during the passover, many believed on His name, seeing His miracles which He was doing;
Imetegude tõttu, mida Jeesus Jeruusalemmas paasapüha ajal tegi, uskusid temasse paljud.
24 and Jesus did not intrust Himself to them because He knows all men,
25 and because He had no need that any one should witness concerning man; because He was knowing what was in man.
