1 Whence come wars and whence come battles within you? are they not from thence, from your pleasures warring in your members?

2 You lust, and you have not: you murder, and you strive, and you are not able to obtain: you fight and you war; and have not, because you do not ask:

Neinun dôn ranga nin nuomngei man thei mak choia, masikin mi that rang inthoksaiin nin oma; neinunngei nin ôi sabaka, aniatachu man thei mak choia, masikin inkhalin nin insuol ngâi ani. Man ranga nin nuomngei hah Pathien kôm nin ngên loi sikin man ngâi mak chei ani.

3 you ask, and you receive not, because you ask wickedly, that you may expend it in your pleasures.

Nin ngên zora khomin, nin mulungbôkngei asaloi sikin nin hoiinhâina mang rang neinunngei kêng nin ngên ngâia; masikin nin man ngâiloi ani.

4 O adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity to God? Whosoever therefore may wish to be the friend of the world renders himself the enemy of God.

Taksônomloi mingei! Rammuol malinchangpui nuomna hih Pathien râl nina ani tih nin riet loi mo? Tukhom rammuol malinchangpui nuom ngeiin chu anninanâkin Pathien râlngei an chang ngâi ani.

5 Whether do you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit who dwells in us fights against envy?

Pathien lekhabu'n, “Ei sûnga Pathien'n ratha a dar hin ôinangei râttak leh asipa,” ti hi dikloi rangin nin mindon mo?

6 and he gives more grace. Therefore he says, God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

Hannirese Pathien moroina a pêk ngei hih chu manêkin arât uol ani. Pathien lekhabu'n, “Pathien'n ânpâkngei chu a khanna aniatachu rangâiinchinngei chu moroina a pêk ngei ngâi,” ati anghan.

7 Therefore draw nigh unto God; and resist the devil, and he will flee from you:

Masikin, Pathien kôm inpêklût roi. Diabol hah khan ungla, male ama chu nangni renga rotpai atih.

8 draw nigh unto God, and he draws nigh unto you. Purify your hands, ye sinners; and cleanse your hearts, ye double-minded.

Pathien kôm hong nâi ungla, ama khom nangni juong nâi atih. Mi nunsiengei nin kutngei hah rusûk minsâi roi! asarotholngei nin mulungrîlngei minthieng roi!

9 Weep, and mourn, lament: let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into sorrow.

Beimindong ungla, in-iekin chap roi; nin innuina hah chapnân thûl ungla, nan râisânna hah innguinân thûl roi!

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will raise you up.

Pumapa makunga nin rangâiminchîn ungla, male nangni a domsâng rang ani.

11 Do not calumniate one another, brethren: the one speaking against his brother, and judging his brother, speaks against the law, and judges the law: if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Ka lâibungngei le sarnungei, inkhat le inkhat inrilsiet no roi. Ni khristien champuingei ni rilsiet, aninônchu an roi ne jêkin chu balam ni rilsieta ne jêk ani. Hanchu Balam ne jêkin chu balam jôm ngâipu nikhâi mak chea, Balam jêkpu kêng ni ni.

12 There is one lawgiver and judge, who is able to save and to destroy: but who are you, the one judging your neighbor.

Pathien hih vai kêng balampêkpu le roijêkpu ani. Ama vaikêng sanminring thei le minmang thei ani. Nangni nin miriem champui senkhatngei roijêk ngâipu ngei, tumo nin ni angin nan mindon?

13 Come now, ye who are saying, To-day or to-morrow we will go into that city, and abide there a year, and trade and accumulate:

Atûn hin ke he rangâi ta u, nangni, “Aviensûn aninônchu nangtûka mini, ma khopuilien han va sêng ei ta, mason kum khat va omin sadâi va tho ei ta, sum va minpung ok rei u,” ti ngâi ngei.

14 whosoever do not know that which belongs to the morrow: for what is your life? For you are a vapor, appearing for a moment, and then vanishing away;

Nin ringna hah nangtûka kho angin mo ahong ni rang luo riet mak chei! Nangni ngei hah meikhu-lit chomolte rangin ahôn langa male ânmang nôk ngâi angin nin ni.

15 on the contrary you should say, If the Lord will, and we live, we will indeed do this, or that.

Imo nin ti rang ei tiin chu mahi ani: “Pumapa lungdo anîn chu, damin om ei ta, male ma hih aninônchu maso tho ei tih, nin ti rang ani.”

16 But you are now boasting in your arrogances: all such boasting is wicked.

Aniatachu atûn hin nin inpâka, nin insong ani; ma anga insongnangei murdi hah chu adikloi ani.

17 Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

Masikin, tukhom asa tho rang riet ngonga tholoipu ngei chu sietna han theiloi an chang ani.
