Colossians 2

1 For I wish you to know how great a conflict I have in behalf of you, and those in Laodicea, and so many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

אני רוצה שתדעו באיזו דאגה אני מתפלל בעדכם, בעד הקהילה בלודקיא ובעד כל אלה שאינם מכירים אותי אישית.

2 in order that their hearts may be comforted, being knitted together in divine love, and in all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, unto the perfect knowledge of the mystery of God, of Christ,

אני מבקש מאלוהים שיעודד, ישמח ויאחד אתכם באהבה רבה איש לרעהו, כדי שתתנסו בחוויה המעשירה שבידיעת סודו של אלוהים, הלא הוא ישוע המשיח עצמו,

3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

אשר בו בלבד צפונים כל אוצרות החכמה והדעת.

4 I say this in order that no one may deceive you with a persuasive speech.

היודעים אתם מדוע אני כותב לכם את כל הדברים האלה? כדי שאיש לא יוכל לרמותכם בדברי־חלקות.

5 For if I am absent in the flesh, but I am present with you in spirit, rejoicing and seeing your order, and the establishment of your faith toward Christ.

אני אמנם רחוק מכם גיאוגרפית, אך לבי אתכם, ואני ממש מאושר לראות את אמונתכם החזקה והיציבה במשיח.

6 Therefore as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk about in him,

לכן, אם אתם מאמינים שהאדון ישוע הוא מושיעכם, שמעו בקולו ושמרו את מצוותיו.

7 having been rooted and grounded in him, and confirmed in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

השתרשו בו ושאבו כוחכם ממנו, החזיקו באמונה שקיבלתם, והודו לאלוהים על כל מעשיו.

8 See that no one shall be deceiving you through philosophy and empty delusion, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ,

היזהרו מהאנשים שמנסים לרמותכם ולהרוס את אמונתכם בפילוסופיות ובתיאוריות מוטעות ושטחיות, שמבוססות על מחשבות אדם ולא על דברי המשיח.

9 because in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily,

כל הטבע האלוהי גלום בגוף המשיח,

10 and you are complete in him, who is the head of all government and authority:

ואם נקשור את חיינו בחייו, נימלא בכל הדרוש לחיינו הרוחניים. המשיח הוא האדון הנעלה ביותר, ובעל שליטה מוחלטת על כל כוח אחר.

11 in whom you are also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of depravity, in the circumcision of Christ;

כאשר האמנתם במשיח לא עברתם מילה פיזית, אלא מילה רוחנית – המשיח הסיר מעליכם את האופי החוטא שלכם, ואת כל המעשים הרעים שנובעים ממנו.

12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you are also raised by the faith of the operation of God, who raised him from the dead:

כי הטבע הישן והרע שלכם מת ונקבר עם המשיח כמסומל בטבילתכם, ואתם קמתם מהמוות יחד עם המשיח ונכנסתם לחיים חדשים לגמרי, בזכות אמונתכם בכוחו ובגבורתו של האלוהים אשר הקימו מן המתים.

13 and you, being dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your depravity, has he created life in you along with himself, having forgiven us all transgressions,

גם אתם הייתם פעם מתים באופן רוחני בגלל חטאיכם, הייתם משועבדים לתאוותיכם ולא נימלתם, אך אלוהים סלח לכל חטאיכם והעניק לכם חלק בחיי המשיח.

14 having blotted out the handwriting which was against us in ordinances, which was antagonistical to us: and took it out from the midst, having nailed it to the cross;

הוא מחק את כל העדויות המאשימות אותנו באי־קיום חוקי התורה ומצוות ה׳. יתר על כן, הוא השמיד את גיליון העדויות המרשיעות בתקעו אותו על צלב המשיח.

15 having destroyed governments and authorities, he made a public exhibition of them triumphing over them on it.

במעשה זה שלל אלוהים מהשטן את האפשרות להאשימנו בחטא, והציג לראווה לכל העולם את נצחונו של המשיח על הצלב, אשר בו נמחקו כל חטאינו ולא נותר להם זכר.

16 Therefore let no one judge you in meat, or in drink, or in the participation of a feast, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath:

לכן אל תניחו לאיש למתוח עליכם ביקורת על המשקה שאתם שותים, על האוכל שאתם אוכלים, או על ענייני שבתות וחגים,

17 which things are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is of Christ.

שכן דברים אלה הם משניים, ואילו הם צילו של העתיד לבוא – ישוע המשיח האדון.

18 Let no one purposely rob you of your prize by humiliation and worship of the angels, trusting in those things which he has seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his depravity,

היזהרו מאנשים שרוצים לרמותכם ולשלול את שכרכם מאלוהים, מאנשים שמתגאים בענוותם ועובדים מלאכים. כל אמונתם מבוססת על”חזיונות“והם מלאי גאווה.

19 and not holding the Head, from which the entire body, by joints and ligaments being supplied and knitted together, increases the increase of God.

אנשים אלה אינם מאמינים בעיקר ובחשוב ביותר – במשיח, שהוא הראש של גוף־המאמינים, וממנו בלבד ניזונים כל איברי הגוף, שגדלים ומתחזקים לפי רצון אלוהים.

20 If along with Christ you are dead from the elements of the world, why are you dogmatized as living in the world,

לכן אם מתם עם המשיח והשתחררתם מדרך המחשבה של העולם, מדוע אתם ממשיכים להשתעבד לחוקים וכללים שהומצאו על־ידי בני־אדם, כגון:

21 Touch not, taste not, handle not,

אל תאחז בזה, אל תטעם מזה או אל תיגע בזה!?

22 those things which are all unto destruction by use according to the commandments and teachings of the people?

כל אלה מתייחסים לדברים ארעיים, שחולפים ונגמרים לאחר השימוש.

23 Which indeed are having a word of wisdom in will worship, and humiliation, and austerity of the body; not in any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

חוקים אלה נראים מחוכמים בעיני אנשים שמעמידים פנים כאילו שהם משרתים את אלוהים – אלה שמתפארים בצניעותם והגאים בעובדה שהם מייסרים את גופם. אולם למעשה אין כל תועלת במעשים אלה; הם רק מוסיפים לגאוות האדם, ואינם מביאים כבוד לאלוהים.
