Acts 8
1 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And there was a great persecution in that day against the church in Jerusalem: and all were dispersed abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.
Ja Saulus oli myös mielistynyt hänen kuolemaansa. Niin sinä päivänä nousi suuri vaino seurakuntaa vastaan, joka oli Jerusalemissa; ja hajosivat kaikki ympäri Juudan ja Samarian maakuntaa, paitsi apostoleita.
2 And godly men buried Stephen, and made great mourning over him.

3 But Saul was laying waste the church, entering into the houses, and arresting men and women, he committed them to prison.
Mutta Saulus raateli seurakuntaa ja kävi huone huoneelta, otti miehet ja vaimot ja panetti vankiuteen.
4 Therefore indeed, being dispersed abroad, they went everywhere preaching the word:
Ja ne hajonneet vaelsivat ympärinsä ja saarnasivat Jumalan sanaa.
5 and Philip, having gone down to the city of Samaria, was preaching Christ to them,
Niin Philippus tuli Samarian kaupunkiin ja saarnasi heille Kristuksesta.
6 And the multitudes were unanimously giving heed to the things spoken by Philip, while they were hearing and seeing the miracles which he was performing.
Mutta kansa otti vaarin yksimielisesti ja visusti Philippuksen sanoista, kuullen ja nähden ne merkit, jotka hän teki:
7 For many of those having unclean spirits, roaring with a loud voice, went out: and many paralyzed and lame were healed;
Sillä rumat henget läksivät ulos monesta, huutain suurella äänellä ja monta halvattua ja saattamatointa parani.
8 and there was great joy in that city.
Ja suuri ilo tuli siihen kaupunkiin.
9 And a certain man, by name Simon, was formerly practicing magic in the city, and bewitching the nation of Samaria, saying that himself was some great man:
Mutta siellä oli mies, Simon nimeltä, joka siinä kaupungissa ennen noituuden virkaa piti ja oli Samarian kansan villinnyt, sanoen itsensä olevan jonkun suuren,
10 to whom all from small even unto the great gave heed, saying, This one is the power of God, called Great.
Jota kaikki sekä pienet että suuret kuulivat, sanoen: tämä on Jumalan voima, joka suuri on.
11 And they gave heed to him, because for a long time he had deceived them with his magic arts.
Mutta he kuultelivat häntä mielellänsä, että hän kauvan aikaa oli heitä noituudellansa villinnyt.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the gospel concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
Mutta kuin he uskoivat Philippuksen, joka saarnasi Jumalan valtakunnasta ja Jesuksen Kristuksen nimestä, niin he kastettiin sekä miehet että vaimot.
13 But Simon himself also believed: and being baptized, was constantly with Philip, both seeing the miracles and the great dynamites performed, was astonished.
Niin Simon myös itse uskoi, ja kuin hän kastettu oli, viipyi hän Philippuksen tykönä. Ja kuin hän näki ne merkit ja suuret voimalliset työt tapahtuvan, niin hän hämmästyi.
14 But the apostles in Jerusalem, having heard that Samaria has received the word of God, sent to them Peter and John:
Mutta kuin apostolit, jotka Jerusalemissa olivat, kuulivat Samarian Jumalan sanan ottaneen vastaan, lähettivät he heidän tykönsä Pietarin ja Johanneksen,
15 who, having come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost.
Jotka, kuin he sinne tulivat alas, rukoilivat niiden edestä, että he olisivat saaneet Pyhän Hengen;
16 For he had not yet fallen on any of them: but they were only baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
(Sillä ei hän ollut vielä yhdenkään niiden päälle laskettu alas, vaan olivat ainoastaan Herran Jesuksen nimeen kastetut.)
17 Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
Niin he panivat kätensä heidän päällensä, ja he saivat Pyhän Hengen.
18 But Simon seeing that by the laying on of the hands of the apostles the Spirit was given, offered them money, saying,
Mutta kuin Simon näki, että apostolien kätten päälle-panemisen kautta Pyhä Henki annettiin, taritsi hän heille rahaa,
19 Give me this power, that on whomsoever I may lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
Sanoen: antakaat minullekin se voima, että kenenkä päälle minä käteni panen, se sais Pyhän Hengen.
20 And Peter said to him, Thy silver be unto destruction with thee, because thou hast thought to obtain the gift of God with money.
Vaan Pietari sanoi hänelle: sinun rahas olkoon sinun kanssas kadotuksessa, että Jumalan lahjan luulet rahoilla ostettavan.
21 There is neither part nor lot to thee in this word: for thy heart is not right before God.
Ei sinulla ole osaa eikä arpaa tässä sanassa; sillä ei sinun sydämes ole oikia Jumalan edessä.
22 Therefore repent of this thy wickedness, and pray the Lord, if perchance the thought of thy heart shall be forgiven thee;
Sentähden tee parannus sinun pahuudestas, ja rukoile Jumalaa, että sydämes ajatukset sinulle anteeksi annettaisiin.
23 for I see thou art in the gall of bitterness and the bond of iniquity.
Sillä minä näen sinun olevan katkerassa sapessa ja vääryyden solmussa.
24 And Simon responding said, You pray to the Lord for me, in order that none of these things of which you have spoken may come upon me.
Niin Simon vastasi ja sanoi: rukoilkaat te Herraa minun edestäni, ettei mitään näistä, mitä te sanoitte, minun päälleni tulisi.
25 Then indeed, witnessing and speaking the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.
Mutta kuin he olivat todistaneet ja puhuneet Herran sanan, palasivat he Jerusalemiin, ja saarnasivat evankeliumia monessa Samarian kylässä.
26 And the angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go towards the south unto the way going down from Jerusalem to Gaza; the same is desert.
Mutta Herran enkeli puhui Philippukselle ja sanoi: nouse ja mene lounaaseen päin, sitä tietä, joka Jerusalemista menee alas Gatsaan, joka kylmillä on.
27 And rising up, he departed. And, behold, an Ethiopian man, a eunuch, an officer of Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasury, had been to Jerusalem to worship,
Niin hän nousi ja meni. Ja katso, yksi Etiopian mies, Etiopian kuningattaren Kandasen voimallinen kamaripalvelia, joka oli pantu kaiken hänen tavaransa päälle, se oli tullut Jerusalemiin rukoilemaan,
28 and was returning, and sitting upon his chariot he was reading the prophet Isaiah.
Ja palasi sieltä, istuen vaunuissansa, ja luki Jesaias prophetaa.
29 And the Spirit said to Philip, Go, and join yourself to that chariot.
Niin Henki sanoi Philippukselle: käy ja mene lähemmä tätä vaunua.
30 And Philip running forth, heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said; Whether do you understand what you are reading?
Niin Philippus juoksi lähemmä, ja kuuli hänen lukevan Jesaias prophetaa, ja sanoi: ymmärrätkös, mitäs luet?
31 And he said, How could I, unless some one shall guide me? And he called upon Philip coming up, to sit with him;
Mutta hän sanoi: kuinka minä taidan ymmärtää, ellei joku minua johdata? Ja hän rukoili Philippusta, että hän tulis ja istuis hänen kanssansa.
32 and the place of the scripture which he was reading was this, He was led like a sheep to the slaughter; and as a lamb before the one shearing him is dumb, so he opens not his mouth.
Mutta se, mitä hän Raamatusta luki, oli tämä: hän on niinkuin lammas teuraaksi talutettu: ja niinkuin karitsa keritsiänsä edessä on ääneti, niin ei hänkään avannut suutansa,
33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare His generation? because his life is taken from the earth.
Hänen nöyryydessänsä on hänen tuomionsa otettu pois, mutta kuka taitaa sanoa ulos hänen elämänsä pituuden? sillä hänen elämänsä otetaan pois maasta.
34 And the eunuch responding to Philip, said, I pray thee, concerning whom does the prophet speak this? concerning himself, or some other man?
Niin kamaripalvelija vastasi Philippusta: minä rukoilen sinua, sanos: kenestä propheta näitä puhuu? itsestäänkö eli jostakin toisesta?
35 Philip opening his mouth, and beginning from the same scripture, preached Jesus to him.
Niin Philippus avasi suunsa ja rupesi tästä kirjoituksesta hänelle saarnaamaan evankeliumia Jesuksesta.
36 And while they were journeying along the road, they came to a certain water: and the eunuch says, Behold water; what doth hinder me from being baptized?
Ja kuin he tiellä vaelsivat, tulivat he veden tykö, ja kamaripalvelia sanoi: katso, tässä on vesi: mikä estää minua kastamasta?
Mutta Philippus sanoi: jos sinä kaikesta sydämestä uskot, niin tapahtukoon. Hän vastasi ja sanoi: minä uskon Jesuksen Kristuksen Jumalan Pojaksi.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they both came down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Niin hän käski seisahtaa vaunun; ja he astuivat molemmat veteen, Philippus ja kamaripalvelia, ja hän kasti hänen.
39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more: for he went on his way rejoicing.
Mutta kuin he vedestä astuivat ylös, tempasi Herran Henki Philippuksen, ja ei kamaripalvelia häntä enään nähnyt, vaan meni iloiten tietänsä myöten.
40 And Philip was found at Azotus: and going through he preached the gospel to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.
Mutta Philippus löydettiin Atsotissa, ja vaelsi ympäri ja saarnasi joka kaupungissa evankeliumia, siihenasti kuin hän tuli Kesareaan.
