2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, the servant of God and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those receiving like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the perfect knowledge of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

3 As His divine power having given unto us all things which appertain to life and godliness, through the perfect knowledge of the one having called us to his own glory and virtue:
Amandla akhe obuNkulunkulu asesinike konke esikudingayo ekuphileni kanye lokumesaba uNkulunkulu ngokumazi kwethu yena owasibiza ngenkazimulo yakhe langokulunga.
4 through which precious and greatest promises have been given unto us; that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Ngalokhu-ke usesinike izithembiso zakhe ezinkulu kakhulu eziligugu, ukuze kuthi ngazo lihlanganyele esimeni sobuNkulunkulu njalo liphephe ekonakaleni kwasemhlabeni okubangelwa yizinkanuko ezimbi.
5 And in harmony with this same thing also, add to your faith heroism; and to heroism, knowledge;
Ngenxa yalesisizatho, yenzani imizamo yonke ukuba lengeze ukulunga ekukholweni kwenu; lekulungeni lengeze ukwazi;
6 and to knowledge holiness; and to holiness patience; and patience, godliness;
ekwazini lengeze ukuzithiba; ekuzithibeni lengeze ukubekezela; ekubekezeleni lengeze ukumesaba uNkulunkulu;
7 and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness divine love.
ekumesabeni uNkulunkulu lengeze umusa wobuzalwane; lasemuseni wobuzalwane lengeze uthando.
8 For these things, being in you and overflowing, render you neither barren nor unfruitful in the perfect knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Ngoba nxa lilalezizinto ngokwanda kwazo, zizalinqanda ekubeni ngabangafezi lutho labangelazithelo ekwazini kwenu iNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu.
9 for he unto whom these things are not present is blind, not seeing afar off, having received the forgetfulness of his purgation from his old sins.
Kodwa nxa umuntu engelazo ubona kalufifi njalo uyisiphofu, ekhohlwa ukuthi usehlanjululwe ezonweni zakhe zakudala.
10 Therefore, brethren, be the more diligent to make your calling and election sure: for doing these things you can never fall.
Ngakho-ke, bazalwane bami, tshisekelani kakhulu ukwenza ukubizwa lokukhethwa kwenu kuqiniseke. Ngoba nxa lisenza lezizinto kalizukuwa,
11 For in this way an entrance will be administered unto you abundantly into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
njalo lizakwamukelwa ngokupheleleyo embusweni olaphakade weNkosi loMsindisi wethu uJesu Khristu. (aiōnios g166)
12 Therefore I will be about to always remind you concerning these things, even though knowing them, and being established in the present truth.
Ngakho ngizahlala ngilikhumbuza lezizinto, lanxa lizazi njalo liqinile ngokupheleleyo eqinisweni eselilalo.
13 But I consider it righteous, so long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by remembrance;
Ngibona kufanele ukuba ngilikhumbuze nxa ngisaphila kulelithente lomzimba lo,
14 knowing that the laying aside of my tabernacle is swift, as our Lord Jesus Christ also showed to me.
ngoba ngiyakwazi ukuthi ngizaphanga ngilibeke eceleni, njengoba iNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu isikwenze kwabasobala kimi.
15 And I will endeavor to have each one of you after my departure make mention of these things.
Njalo ngizakwenza imizamo yonke ukubona ukuthi emva kokusuka kwami lizahlala lizikhumbula lezizinto.
16 For not having followed cunningly devised fables, have we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but having been eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Sasingalandeli izinganekwane ezaqaliswa ngokuhlakanipha lapho silitshela ngamandla langokuza kweNkosi yethu uJesu Khristu kodwa sasingofakazi bobukhosi bakhe.
17 For having received from God the Father the honor and glory of such a voice having been borne to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Ngoba wamukela udumo lenkazimulo kuNkulunkulu uBaba lapho ilizwi lifika kuye livela eNkazimulweni yoBukhosi, lisithi, “Le yiNdodana yami engiyithandayo; ngiyathokoza kakhulu ngayo.”
18 We, being with him in the holy mount, heard this voice borne from heaven.
Thina ngokwethu salizwa ilizwi lelo elavela ezulwini silaye phezu kwentaba engcwele.
19 And we have the more certain word of prophecy; to which you do well giving heed, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day may dawn, and the morning-star may rise in your hearts:
Njalo ilizwi labaphrofethi seliqiniswe kakhulu, futhi kuzakuba kuhle kini ukuba lilinake njengesibane esikhanyise endaweni emnyama, kuze kuse lendonsakusa ize iphume ezinhliziyweni zenu.
20 know this in the first place, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.
Phezu kwakho konke, kumele liqedisise ukuthi akukho siphrofethi soMbhalo esavela ngokuchasisa okungokomphrofethi.
21 For in the olden time prophecy did not come by the will of man: but men moved by the Holy Ghost spoke from God.
Ngoba isiphrofethi kasizange sivele entandweni yomuntu, kodwa abantu bakhuluma kuvela kuNkulunkulu beholwa nguMoya oNgcwele.
