1 Timothy 1
1 Paul, the apostle of Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Jesus Christ our hope;

2 to Timothy, my beloved son in the faith. Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

3 As I exhorted you to remain in Ephesus, I going into Macedonia, in order that you may command certain ones not to teach heterodoxy,

4 nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which present questions, rather than the economy of God which is in faith:

5 but the end of the commandment is divine love out of a clean heart and a good conscience and faith free from hypocrisy:

6 from which certain ones having deflected have gone out into empty talking,
hvorfra nogle ere afvegne og have vendt sig til intetsigende Snak,
7 wishing to be teachers of the law, not knowing either what they are saying, or concerning what things they do affirm.
idet de ville være Lovlærere uden at forstaa, hverken hvad de sige, eller hvorom de udtale sig saa sikkert.
8 But we know that the law is good, if any one may use it lawfully;
Men vi vide, at Loven er god, dersom man bruger den lovmæssigt,
9 knowing this, that the law is not made for the righteous, but for the unrighteous and disorderly, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and the profane, for patricides, matricides and homocides,
idet man ved dette, at Loven ikke er sat for den retfærdige, men for lovløse og ulydige, ugudelige og Syndere, ryggesløse og vanhellige, for dem, som øve Vold imod deres Fader og Moder, for Manddrabere,
10 for fornicators, for Sodomites, for kidnapers, for liars, for perjurers, and if any thing else is opposed to healthy teaching;
utugtige, Syndere imod Naturen, Menneskerøvere, Løgnere, Menedere, og hvad andet dei er imod den sunde Lære,
11 according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, with which I am intrusted.
efter den salige Guds Herligheds Evangelium, som er blevet mig betroet.
12 I give thanks to Jesus Christ our Lord, the one having filled me up with dynamite, because he considered me faithful, having put me in the ministry;

13 being antecedently a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and an insulter: but I obtained mercy, because I did it in unbelief being ignorant;
skønt jeg forhen var en Bespotter og en Forfølger og en Voldsmand; men der blev vist mig Barmhjertighed, thi jeg gjorde det uvitterligt i Vantro.
14 but the grace of our Lord with faith and the divine love which is in Christ Jesus superabounded.
Ja, vor Herres Naade viste sig overvættes rig med Tro og Kærlighed i Kristus Jesus.
15 It is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief:
Den Tale er troværdig og al Modtagelse værd, at Kristus Jesus kom til Verden for at frelse Syndere, iblandt hvilke jeg er den største.
16 but on this account I obtained mercy, in order that Jesus Christ might in me the chief show forth all longsuffering, for an example of those about to believe on him unto eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

17 But to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only God, be honor and glory unto the ages of the ages. Amen. (aiōn g165)
Men Evighedens Konge, den uforkrænkelige, usynlige, eneste Gud være Pris og Ære i Evighedernes Evigheder! Amen. (aiōn g165)
18 This charge I commit unto you, O child Timothy, according to the prophecies that went before on you, that you may war a beautiful warfare in the same;
Dette Paabud betror jeg dig, mit Barn Timotheus, ifølge de Profetier, som tilforn ere udtalte over dig, at du efter dem strider den gode Strid,
19 having faith and a good conscience; which some having cast away have made shipwreck concerning the faith;

20 of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered to Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
