Zephaniah 2
1 Gather your selues, euen gather you, O nation not worthie to be loued,
Tenk efter og gå i dig selv, du folk som ikke blues,
2 Before the decree come foorth, and ye be as chaffe that passeth in a day, and before the fierce wrath of the Lord come vpon you, and before the day of the Lords anger come vpon you.
før Guds råd føder - som agner farer dagen frem - før Herrens brennende vrede kommer over eder, før Herrens vredes dag kommer over eder!
3 Seeke yee the Lord all the meeke of the earth, which haue wrought his iudgement: seeke righteousnesse, seeke lowlinesse, if so bee that ye may be hid in the day of the Lords wrath.
Søk Herren, alle I saktmodige i landet, som holder hans lov! Søk rettferdighet, søk saktmodighet! Kanskje I blir skjult på Herrens vredes dag.
4 For Azzah shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon desolate: they shall driue out Ashdod at the noone day, and Ekron shalbe rooted vp.
For Gasa skal bli forlatt, og Askalon en ørken; Asdods folk skal jages ut midt på dagen, og Ekron skal rykkes op med rot.
5 Wo vnto the inhabitants of the sea coast. the nation of the Cherethims, the worde of the Lord is against you: O Canaan, the lande of the Philistims, I will euen destroye thee without an inhabitant.
Ve dem som bor i bygdene ute ved havet, kreterfolket! Herrens ord kommer over dig, Kana'an, du filistrenes land, jeg vil ødelegge dig så ingen skal bo i dig.
6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cotages for shepheardes and sheepefoldes.
Og bygdene ute ved havet skal bli til beitemarker med gjemmesteder for hyrdene og med fehegn.
7 And that coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Iudah, to feede thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lodge toward night: for the Lord their God shall visite them, and turne away their captiuitie.
Og det skal bli en bygd for dem som blir igjen av Judas hus; der skal de ha sitt beite, i Askalons huser skal de hvile om aftenen. For Herren deres Gud skal se til dem og gjøre ende på deres fangenskap.
8 I haue heard the reproch of Moab, and the rebukes of the children of Ammon, whereby they vpbraided my people, and magnified themselues against their borders.
Jeg har hørt Moabs spott og Ammons barns hånsord, da de spottet mitt folk og bar sig overmodig at mot dets land.
9 Therefore, as I liue, saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall bee as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorah, euen the breeding of nettels and salt pittes, and a perpetuall desolation: the residue of my folke shall spoyle them, and the remnant of my people shall possesse them.
Derfor, så sant jeg lever, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, Israels Gud, skal det gå Moab som Sodoma og Ammons barn som Gomorra: De skal bli neslers eie og en saltgrube og en ørken til evig tid; resten av mitt folk skal plyndre dem; de som blir igjen av mitt folk, skal ta dem i eie.
10 This shall they haue for their pride, because they haue reproched and magnified themselues against the Lord of hostes people.
Således skal det gå dem for deres overmots skyld, fordi de hånte og bar sig overmodig at mot Herrens, hærskarenes Guds folk.
11 The Lord will be terrible vnto them: for he wil consume all the gods of the earth, and euery man shall worship him from his place, euen all the yles of the heathen.
Forferdelig skal Herren vise sig mot dem; for han skal tilintetgjøre alle jordens guder, og alle hedningenes kyster skal tilbede ham, hvert folk på sitt sted.
12 Ye Morians also shalbe slaine by my sword with them.
Også I etiopere blir gjennemboret av mitt sverd.
13 And he wil stretch out his hand against the North, and destroy Asshur, and will make Nineueh desolate, and waste like a wildernesse.
Han rekker sin hånd ut mot Norden og ødelegger Assur og gjør Ninive til et øde, tørt som en ørken.
14 And flockes shall lie in the middes of her, and all the beastes of the nations, and the pelicane, and the owle shall abide in the vpper postes of it: the voyce of birdes shall sing in the windowes, and desolations shalbe vpon the postes: for the cedars are vncouered.
Der skal hjorder hvile; alle slags villdyrflokker, både pelikaner og pinnsvin, skal overnatte på søilehodene der; fuglesang høres i vinduene, grus ligger på dørtreskelen, for sederpanelet er revet av.
15 This is the reioycing citie that dwelt carelesse, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none besides me: how is she made waste, and the lodging of the beastes! euery one that passeth by her, shall hisse and wagge his hand.
Dette er den jublende stad, som bodde så trygt, som sa i sitt hjerte: Jeg og ingen annen! Hvor den er blitt til en ørken, et leie for ville dyr! Hver den som går forbi, blåser av den og ryster hånlig sin hånd.
