Zechariah 1
1 In the eight moneth of the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,
Au huitième mois, dans la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l’Eternel fut adressée au prophète Zacharie, fils de Bérékhia, fils d’Iddo, en ces termes:
2 The Lord hath bene sore displeased with your fathers.
"L’Eternel est entré dans une violente colère contre vos pères.
3 Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne ye vnto me, saith the Lord of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes.
Tu leur diras donc: Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: Revenez à moi, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot et je reviendrai à vous, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot:
4 Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whome the former prophets haue cried, saying, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne you nowe from your euill wayes, and from your wicked workes: but they would not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the Lord.
Ne soyez pas comme vos pères que les anciens prophètes interpellaient en disant: Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: "Revenez donc de vos mauvaises voies et de vos mauvaises pratiques!" Mais ils n’ont pas écouté et ils n’ont fait aucun cas de moi, dit l’Eternel.
5 your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer?
Vos pères, où sont-ils? Et les prophètes doivent-ils vivre éternellement?
6 But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.
Cependant mes paroles et mes décrets que j’avais notifiés à mes serviteurs, les prophètes, n’ont-ils pas atteint vos pères, si bien qu’ils en sont venus à dire: Tout comme l’Eternel-Cebaot avait résolu d’agir envers nous, en raison de nos voies et de nos pratiques, ainsi il en a réellement agi à notre égard."
7 Vpon the foure and twentieth day of the eleuenth moneth, which is the moneth Shebat, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying,
Le vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Chebat, dans la seconde année de Darius, la parole de l’Eternel fut adressée au prophète Zacharie, fils de Bérékhia, fils d’Iddo, en ces termes:
8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding vpon a red horse, and hee stood among the mirre trees, that were in a bottome, and behinde him were there red horses speckeled and white.
"J’Eus une vision pendant la nuit: il y avait là un homme monté sur un cheval roux, et qui se tenait parmi les myrthes dans une dépression du sol, et derrière lui il y avait des chevaux roux, bais et blancs.
9 Then sayd I, O my Lord, what are these? And the Angel that talked with me, sayde vnto me, I wil shew thee what these be.
Et je dis: "Que représentent-ils, ceux-là, Seigneur?" L’Ange qui conversait avec moi me répondit: "Je te montrerai ce qu’ils représentent."
10 And the man that stood among the mirre trees, answered, and sayd, These are they whome the Lord hath sent to go through the world.
Alors l’homme qui se tenait parmi les myrthes prit la parole et dit: "Ce sont ceux-là que l’Eternel a envoyés pour parcourir la terre."
11 And they answered the Angel of the Lord, that stood among the mirre trees, and sayd, We haue gone thorowe the world: and beholde, all the world sitteth still, and is at rest.
Ils s’adressèrent à l’ange de l’Eternel qui se tenait parmi les myrthes et ils dirent: "Nous avons parcouru la terre, et voilà que toute la terre est tranquille et paisible."
12 Then the Angel of the Lord answered and sayd, O Lord of hostes, howe long wilt thou be vnmercifull to Ierusalem, and to the cities of Iudah, with whom thou hast bene displeased now these threescore and ten yeeres?
Alors l’ange de l’Eternel reprit et dit: "Eternel-Cebaot, jusqu’à quand seras-tu sans pitié pour Jérusalem et les villes de Juda, contre lesquelles tu es irrité, voilà soixante-dix ans?"
13 And the Lord answered the Angel that talked with me, with good wordes and comfortable wordes.
Et l’Eternel répondit à l’ange qui conversait avec moi par de bonnes, de consolantes paroles.
14 So the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me, Crie thou, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I am ielous ouer Ierusalem and Zion with a great zeale,
Et l’ange qui conversait avec moi me dit: "Fais la proclamation que voici: Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: Je suis rempli d’un zèle ardent en faveur de Jérusalem et de Sion.
15 And am greatly angrie against the carelesse heathen: for I was angrie but a litle, and they helped forward the affliction.
Mais j’éprouve une violente colère contre ces peuples qui vivent si paisibles, car alors que je n’étais qu’un peu irrité, ils ont coopéré à la ruine.
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord, I wil returne vnto Ierusalem with tender mercie: mine house shall be builded in it, saith the Lord of hostes, and a line shall be stretched vpon Ierusalem.
Eh bien! Ainsi parle l’Eternel: Je suis revenu à Jérusalem avec amour, ma maison y sera rebâtie, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot, et le fil à plomb sera tendu sur Jérusalem.
17 Cry yet, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, My cities shall yet be broken with plentie: the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet chuse Ierusalem.
De plus, proclame encore ce message: Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: A nouveau mes villes déborderont de bien-être, à nouveau l’Eternel consolera Sion et fera choix de Jérusalem!"
18 Then lift I vp mine eyes and sawe, and beholde, foure hornes.
Je levai les yeux et regardai: voici, il y avait là quatre cornes.
19 And I said vnto the Angel that talked with me, What be these? And hee answered me, These are the hornes which haue scattered Iudah, Israel, and Ierusalem.
Et je dis à l’ange qui conversait avec moi "Qu’est-ce à dire?" II me répondit: "Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem."
20 And the Lord shewed me foure carpenters.
Puis l’Eternel me fit voir quatre forgerons.
21 Then said I, What come these to doe? And he answered, and said, These are the hornes, which haue scattered Iudah, so that a man durst not lift vp his head: but these are come to fray them, and to cast out the hornes of the Gentiles, which lift vp their horne ouer the land of Iudah, to scatter it.
Et je dis: "Que viennent-ils faire, ceux-là?" II répondit en ces termes "Voilà les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, si bien que personne ne levait plus la tête; mais ceux-là sont venus pour les terrifier, pour abattre les cornes des peuples qui élevèrent la corne contre le pays de Juda pour le disperser."
