Zechariah 1
1 In the eight moneth of the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,
I te waru o nga marama, i te rua o nga tau o Tariuha, ka puta mai te kupu a Ihowa ki a Hakaraia, tama a Perekia, tama a Iro poropiti; i mea ia,
2 The Lord hath bene sore displeased with your fathers.
Nui atu te riri o Ihowa ki o koutou matua.
3 Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne ye vnto me, saith the Lord of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes.
Na mea atu ki a ratou, Ko te kupu tenei a Ihowa o nga mano: Tahuri mai ano ki ahau, e ai ta Ihowa o nga mano, a ka tahuri atu ano hoki ahau ki a koutou, e ai ta Ihowa o nga mano.
4 Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whome the former prophets haue cried, saying, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne you nowe from your euill wayes, and from your wicked workes: but they would not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the Lord.
Kei rite koutou ki o koutou matua, i karanga ra nga poropiti o mua ki a ratou, i mea, Ko te kupu tenei a Ihowa o nga mano, Tahuri mai inaianei i o koutou ara kino, i a koutou mahi kino: otiia kihai ratou i rongo, kihai hoki i whai taringa ki ahau, e ai ta Ihowa.
5 your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer?
Ko o koutou matua, kei hea ratou? a ko nga poropiti, e ora tonu ana ranei ratou ake aka?
6 But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.
Na, ko aku kupu me aku tikanga i whakahaua e ahau ki aku pononga, ki nga poropiti, kihai ranei o koutou matua i rokohanga e era? a hoki mai ana ratou, mea ana, Ka pera i ta Ihowa o nga mano i whakaaro ai kia meatia ki a matou, he mea whakarite ki o matou ara, ki a matou mahi; ka pera tonu tana ki a matou.
7 Vpon the foure and twentieth day of the eleuenth moneth, which is the moneth Shebat, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying,
I te rua tekau ma wha o nga ra o te tekau ma tahi o nga marama, ara o te marama Hepata, i te rua o nga tau o Tariuha, ka puta mai te kupu a Ihowa ki a Hakaraia tama a Perekia, tama a Iro poropiti; i mea ia,
8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding vpon a red horse, and hee stood among the mirre trees, that were in a bottome, and behinde him were there red horses speckeled and white.
I titiro ahau i te po, na ko tetahi tangata e noho ana i runga i te hoiho whero, a tu ana ia i roto i nga ramarama i te wharua; a i muri atu i a ia ko etahi hoiho, he whero, he kopurepure, he ma.
9 Then sayd I, O my Lord, what are these? And the Angel that talked with me, sayde vnto me, I wil shew thee what these be.
Na ka mea atu ahau, E toku ariki, he aha enei? A ka ki mai te anahera i korero ki ahau, Maku e whakaatu ki a koe te tikanga o enei.
10 And the man that stood among the mirre trees, answered, and sayd, These are they whome the Lord hath sent to go through the world.
Na ka oho mai te tangata i tu ra i roto i nga ramarama, ka mea, Ko nga mea enei i unga atu nei e Ihowa hei haereere i te whenua.
11 And they answered the Angel of the Lord, that stood among the mirre trees, and sayd, We haue gone thorowe the world: and beholde, all the world sitteth still, and is at rest.
Na ka whakahoki ratou ki te anahera a Ihowa e tu ana i roto i nga ramarama, ka mea, Kua haereerea e matou te whenua, nana, kei te ata noho te whenua katoa, kei te marie.
12 Then the Angel of the Lord answered and sayd, O Lord of hostes, howe long wilt thou be vnmercifull to Ierusalem, and to the cities of Iudah, with whom thou hast bene displeased now these threescore and ten yeeres?
Katahi ka oho te anahera a Ihowa, ka mea, E Ihowa o nga mano, kia pehea te roa ou ka kore nei e tohu i Hiruharama, i nga pa o Hura, e mauaharatia nei e koe i enei tau e whitu tekau?
13 And the Lord answered the Angel that talked with me, with good wordes and comfortable wordes.
Na ka whakahoki a Ihowa ki te anahere i korero nei ki ahau, he kupu pai, ara he kupu whakamarie.
14 So the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me, Crie thou, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I am ielous ouer Ierusalem and Zion with a great zeale,
Heoi ka mea ki ahau te anahera i korero nei ki ahau, Karanga atu koe, mea atu, Ko te kupu tenei a Ihowa o nga mano, He nui te hae i hae ai ahau ki Hiruharama, ki Hiona.
15 And am greatly angrie against the carelesse heathen: for I was angrie but a litle, and they helped forward the affliction.
A he tino nui toku riri ki nga iwi e noho humarie ana: he iti noa ra hoki toku riri, a na ratou i whakatetere te he.
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord, I wil returne vnto Ierusalem with tender mercie: mine house shall be builded in it, saith the Lord of hostes, and a line shall be stretched vpon Ierusalem.
Mo reira ko te kupu tenei a Ihowa: Kua hoki mai ahau ki Hiruharama i runga i te tohu tangata; ka hanga toku whare ki reira, e ai ta Ihowa o nga mano, a ka whakamarokia he aho ki runga ki Hiruharama.
17 Cry yet, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, My cities shall yet be broken with plentie: the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet chuse Ierusalem.

18 Then lift I vp mine eyes and sawe, and beholde, foure hornes.
Na ka maranga ake oku kanohi, a ka kite ahau, nana, e wha nga haona.
19 And I said vnto the Angel that talked with me, What be these? And hee answered me, These are the hornes which haue scattered Iudah, Israel, and Ierusalem.
Na ka mea ahau ki te anahera i korero nei ki ahau, He aha enei? Ano ra ko ia ki ahau, Ko nga haona enei nana i whakamarara a Hura, a Iharaira, a Hiruharama.
20 And the Lord shewed me foure carpenters.
Na ka whakakitea e Ihowa etahi kamura ki ahau, tokowha.
21 Then said I, What come these to doe? And he answered, and said, These are the hornes, which haue scattered Iudah, so that a man durst not lift vp his head: but these are come to fray them, and to cast out the hornes of the Gentiles, which lift vp their horne ouer the land of Iudah, to scatter it.
Katahi ahau ka mea, I haere mai enei ki te aha? A ka korero tera, ka mea, Ko nga haona enei nana i whakamarara a Hura, i kore ai e ara te mahunga o tetahi: otira i haere mai enei ki te whakawehi i a ratou, ki te whakataka iho i nga haona o nga t auiwi, o te hunga i ara nei to ratou haona ki te whenua o Hura, ki te titaritari i a ia.
