Titus 3
1 Pvt them in remembrance that they bee subiect to the Principalities and powers, and that they bee obedient, and ready to euery good woorke,
Rappelle aux fidèles qu'ils ont à se soumettre aux autorités, aux, puissances, à leur obéir, à être prêts à faire le bien;
2 That they speake euill of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, shewing all meekenesse vnto all men.
à ne dire de mal de personne, à être paisibles, indulgents, à se montrer doux envers tout le monde.
3 For wee our selues also were in times past vnwise, disobedient, deceiued, seruing the lustes and diuers pleasures, liuing in maliciousnes and enuie, hatefull, and hating one another:
Nous aussi étions autrefois insensés, désobéissants, égarés, esclaves de toutes sortes de plaisirs et de passions, vivant dans la méchanceté et la jalousie, ne méritant que la haine et nous haïssant les uns les autres.
4 But when that bountifulnesse and that loue of God our Sauiour toward man appeared,
Mais quand a paru la bonté, l'amour pour les hommes de Dieu notre Sauveur,
5 Not by the woorkes of righteousnesse, which we had done, but according to his mercie he saued vs, by the washing of the newe birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost,
nous avons été sauvés, non parce que nous avions accompli des oeuvres de justice, mais parce qu'il est miséricordieux; il nous a purifiés, régénérés, renouvelés par l'Esprit saint
6 Which he shed on vs aboundantly, through Iesus Christ our Sauiour,
qu'il a libéralement répandu sur nous par Jésus-Christ notre Sauveur.
7 That we, being iustified by his grace, should be made heires according to the hope of eternall life. (aiōnios g166)
C'est ainsi que justifiés par sa grâce, nous devenons, en espérance, héritiers de la vie éternelle. (aiōnios g166)
8 This is a true saying, and these thinges I will thou shouldest affirme, that they which haue beleeued God, might be carefull to shewe foorth good woorkes. These things are good and profitable vnto men.
Le fait est certain, et je veux que tu les en persuades, afin que ceux qui ont cru en Dieu se mettent à faire de bonnes oeuvres. Voilà ce qui est bon et utile aux hommes.
9 But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and brawlings about the Lawe: for they are vnprofitable and vaine.
Quant aux sottes questions, aux généalogies, aux querelles et aux discussions sur la Loi, écarte-les; tout cela est frivole et inutile.
10 Reiect him that is an heretike, after once or twise admonition,
Tu rompras après deux avertissements avec celui qui fomente des divisions;
11 Knowing that hee that is such, is peruerted, and sinneth, being damned of his owne selfe.
ces gens-là, sache-le, sont coupables, pervertis et se condamnent eux-mêmes.
12 When I shall send Artemas vnto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to mee vnto Nicopolis: for I haue determined there to winter.
Dès que je t'aurai envoyé soit Artémas, soit Tychique, tache de me rejoindre à Nicopolis, car je me suis décidé à y passer l'hiver.
13 Bring Zenas the expounder of the Lawe, and Apollos on their iourney diligently, that they lacke nothing.
Tu auras bien soin de Zénas, le docteur de la Loi, et d'Apollon, quand ils partiront; qu'il ne leur manque rien.
14 And let ours also learne to shewe foorth good woorkes for necessary vses, that they be not vnfruitfull.
Les nôtres aussi doivent apprendre, dans les cas urgents, à pratiquer de bonnes oeuvres et ainsi à ne pas rester stériles.
15 All that are with mee, salute thee. Greete them that loue vs in the faith. Grace bee with you all, Amen. ‘To Titus, elect the first bishoppe of the Church of the Cretians, written from Nicopolis in Macedonia.’
Tous ceux qui sont avec moi te saluent. Salue les croyants qui nous aiment.
