Psalms 96
1 Sing vnto the Lord a newe song: sing vnto the Lord, all the earth.
Syngið Drottni nýjan söng! Syngið þann söng um alla jörðina!
2 Sing vnto the Lord, and prayse his Name: declare his saluation from day to day.
Syngið um velgjörðir hans, lofið nafn hans. Kunngerið hjálpráð hans dag eftir dag.
3 Declare his glory among all nations, and his wonders among all people.
Segið frá dýrð hans meðal þjóðanna, – allra þjóða. Kunngerið öllum dásemdarverk hans.
4 For the Lord is great and much to be praysed: he is to be feared aboue all gods.
Því að Drottinn er mikill og mjög vegsamlegur. Hann einn er sá Guð sem rétt er að tilbiðja.
5 For all the gods of the people are idoles: but the Lord made the heauens.
Þjóðirnar tilbiðja falsguði eina, en okkar Guð hefur skapað himininn!
6 Strength and glory are before him: power and beautie are in his Sanctuarie.
Hann er umvafinn heiðri og dýrð, styrkur og fegurð fylla musteri hans.
7 Giue vnto the Lord, ye families of the people: giue vnto the Lord glory and power.
Þið kynkvíslir jarðar, játið Drottni heiður og dýrð.
8 Giue vnto the Lord the glory of his Name: bring an offering, and enter into his courtes.
Heiðrið hann eins og skyldugt er! Berið fram fórnina og tilbiðjið hann.
9 Worship the Lord in the glorious Sanctuarie: tremble before him all the earth.
Tilbiðjið Drottin í heilagleik og heiðri. Allur heimurinn skjálfi fyrir augliti hans.
10 Say among the nations, The Lord reigneth: surely the world shalbe stable, and not moue, and he shall iudge the people in righteousnesse.
Kunngjörið þjóðunum að Drottinn er konungur. Hann ríkir yfir alheimi. Hann er skapari jarðar og mun dæma allar þjóðir með réttvísi.
11 Let the heauens reioyce, and let the earth be glad: let the sea roare, and all that therein is.
Himnarnir gleðjist og jörðin kætist og brimgnýr hafsins boði tign hans og mátt.
12 Let the field be ioyfull, and all that is in it: let all the trees of the wood then reioyce
Ávöxtur jarðar vitnar um dýrð hans og þytur trjánna lofar hann.
13 Before the Lord: for he commeth, for he cometh to iudge the earth: he wil iudge the world with righteousnes, and the people in his trueth.
Því að Drottinn mun dæma heiminn með réttvísi og þjóðirnar eftir trúfesti sinni!
