Psalms 90
1 A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, thou hast bene our habitation from generation to generation.
[Ein Gebet von Mose, dem Manne Gottes.] Herr, du bist unsere Wohnung gewesen von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht.
2 Before the mountaines were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, euen from euerlasting to euerlasting thou art our God.
Ehe geboren waren die Berge, und du die Erde und den Erdkreis erschaffen [Eig. geboren] hattest-ja, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit bist du Gott. [El]
3 Thou turnest man to destruction: againe thou sayest, Returne, ye sonnes of Adam.
Du lässest zum Staube [Eig. zur Zermalmung] zurückkehren den Menschen, und sprichst: Kehret zurück, ihr Menschenkinder!
4 For a thousande yeeres in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
Denn tausend Jahre sind in deinen Augen wie der gestrige Tag, wenn er vergangen ist, und wie eine Wache in der Nacht.
5 Thou hast ouerflowed them: they are as a sleepe: in the morning he groweth like the grasse:
Du schwemmst sie hinweg, sie sind wie ein Schlaf, am Morgen wie Gras, das aufsproßt; [Eig. nachsproßt; so auch v 6]
6 In the morning it florisheth and groweth, but in the euening it is cut downe and withereth.
Am Morgen blüht es und sproßt auf; am Abend wird es abgemäht [O. welkt es] und verdorrt.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Denn wir vergehen durch deinen Zorn, und durch deinen Grimm werden wir hinweggeschreckt. [O. bestürzt]
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sinnes in the light of thy countenance.
Du hast unsere Ungerechtigkeiten vor dich gestellt, unser verborgenes Tun vor das Licht deines Angesichts.
9 For all our dayes are past in thine anger: we haue spent our yeeres as a thought.
Denn alle unsere Tage schwinden durch deinen Grimm, wir bringen unsere Jahre zu wie einen Gedanken. [O. ein Lispeln]
10 The time of our life is threescore yeeres and ten, and if they be of strength, fourescore yeeres: yet their strength is but labour and sorowe: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.
Die Tage unserer Jahre, -ihrer sind siebzig Jahre, und, wenn in Kraft, [And.: wenn vollzählig] achtzig Jahre, und ihr Stolz ist Mühsal und Nichtigkeit, denn schnell eilt es vorüber, und wir fliegen dahin.
11 Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy feare is thine anger.
Wer erkennt die Stärke deines Zornes, und, deiner Furcht gemäß, deinen Grimm?
12 Teach vs so to nomber our dayes, that we may apply our heartes vnto wisdome.
So lehre uns denn zählen unsere Tage, auf daß wir ein weises Herz erlangen!
13 Returne (O Lord, howe long?) and be pacified toward thy seruants.
Kehre wieder, Jehova! -Bis wann? -Und laß dichs gereuen [O. erbarme dich] über deine Knechte!
14 Fill vs with thy mercie in the morning: so shall we reioyce and be glad all our dayes.
Sättige uns früh [W. am Morgen] mit deiner Güte, so werden wir jubeln und uns freuen in allen unseren Tagen.
15 Comfort vs according to the dayes that thou hast afflicted vs, and according to the yeeres that we haue seene euill.
Erfreue uns nach den Tagen, da du uns gebeugt hast, nach den Jahren, da wir Übles gesehen!
16 Let thy worke bee seene towarde thy seruants, and thy glory vpon their children.
Laß deinen Knechten erscheinen dein Tun, und deine Majestät ihren Söhnen! [Eig. über ihren Söhnen]
17 And let the beautie of the Lord our God be vpon vs, and direct thou the worke of our hands vpon vs, euen direct the worke of our handes.
Und die Huld [O. Lieblichkeit] des Herrn, unseres Gottes, sei über uns! Und befestige über uns das Werk unserer Hände; ja, das Werk unserer Hände, befestige es!
