Psalms 89
1 A Psalme to give instruction, of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing the mercies of the Lord for euer: with my mouth will I declare thy trueth from generation to generation.
Hymne d'Éthan l'Ézrahite. Je chanterai toujours les bontés de l'Éternel; D'âge en âge, ma bouche proclamera sa fidélité.
2 For I said, Mercie shalbe set vp for euer: thy trueth shalt thou stablish in ye very heauens.
J'ai dit: «Ta grâce est un édifice éternel; Tu as établi dans les cieux les fondements de ta fidélité.»
3 I haue made a couenant with my chosen: I haue sworne to Dauid my seruant,
— «J'ai conclu, dit l'Éternel, cette alliance avec mon élu; J'ai fait ce serment à David, mon serviteur:
4 Thy seede will I stablish for euer, and set vp thy throne from generation to generation. (Selah)
J'affermirai ta postérité pour toujours; J'ai fondé ton trône à jamais.» (Pause)
5 O Lord, euen the heauens shall prayse thy wonderous worke: yea, thy trueth in the Congregation of the Saints.
Les cieux, ô Éternel, célèbrent tes merveilles. Ainsi que ta fidélité, dans l'assemblée des saints.
6 For who is equall to the Lord in the heauen? and who is like the Lord among the sonnes of the gods?
Qui, dans les cieux, est comparable à l'Éternel? Qui ressemble à l'Éternel parmi les fils de Dieu?
7 God is very terrible in the assemblie of the Saints, and to be reuerenced aboue all, that are about him.
Dieu est très redoutable dans l'assemblée des saints. Plus terrible que tous ceux qui l'entourent.
8 O Lord God of hostes, who is like vnto thee, which art a mightie Lord, and thy trueth is about thee?
Éternel, Dieu des armées. Qui est puissant comme toi? Éternel, ton amour fidèle Rayonne autour de toi!
9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waues thereof arise, thou stillest them.
Tu domptes l'orgueil de la mer: Quand ses vagues s'élèvent, c'est toi qui les apaises.
10 Thou hast beaten downe Rahab as a man slaine: thou hast scattered thine enemies with thy mightie arme.
Tu as écrasé l'Egypte, tu l'as blessée à mort; Par la force de ton bras, tu as dispersé tes ennemis.
11 The heauens are thine, the earth also is thine: thou hast layde the foundation of the world, and all that therein is.
A toi sont les cieux, à toi aussi la terre; Tu as fondé le monde et tout ce qu'il renferme.
12 Thou hast created the North and the South: Tabor and Hermon shall reioyce in thy Name.
Le Nord et le Midi, c'est toi qui les as créés; Le Thabor et l'Hermon sont dans l'allégresse A cause de ton nom.
13 Thou hast a mightie arme: strong is thine hand, and high is thy right hand.
Ton bras est armé de puissance. Ta main est forte; ta main droite exerce l'autorité suprême.
14 Righteousnesse and equitie are the stablishment of thy throne: mercy and trueth goe before thy face.
La justice et le droit sont la base de ton trône; La bonté et la vérité marchent devant ta face.
15 Blessed is the people, that can reioyce in thee: they shall walke in the light of thy countenance, O Lord.
Heureux le peuple qui connaît les chants de triomphe: Il s'avance à la clarté de ta face, ô Éternel!
16 They shall reioyce continually in thy Name, and in thy righteousnes shall they exalt them selues.
Il se réjouit en célébrant ton nom chaque jour, Et il se glorifie de ta justice.
17 For thou art the glory of their strength, and by thy fauour our hornes shall be exalted.
Car c'est toi qui es la splendeur de notre puissance. Et c'est ta faveur qui nous fait relever la tête.
18 For our shield apperteineth to the Lord, and our King to the holy one of Israel.
Oui, notre bouclier protecteur Est dans les mains de l'Éternel: Notre roi appartient au Saint d'Israël!
19 Thou spakest then in a vision vnto thine Holy one, and saydest, I haue layde helpe vpon one that is mightie: I haue exalted one chosen out of the people.
Tu parlas jadis dans une vision à tes bien-aimés, Et tu dis: J'ai prêté mon appui à un héros; J'ai choisi dans les rangs du peuple un élu.
20 I haue found Dauid my seruant: with mine holy oyle haue I anoynted him.
J'ai trouvé David, mon serviteur; Je l'ai oint de mon huile sainte.
21 Therefore mine hande shall be established with him, and mine arme shall strengthen him.
Ma main le soutiendra, Et mon bras le fortifiera.
22 The enemie shall not oppresse him, neither shall the wicked hurt him.
L'ennemi ne pourra le surprendre, Et le méchant ne l'opprimera point.
23 But I will destroy his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.
Je briserai devant lui ses adversaires. Et je frapperai ceux qui le haïssent.
24 My trueth also and my mercie shall be with him, and in my Name shall his horne be exalted.
Ma fidélité et ma bonté seront avec lui, Et par la puissance de mon nom, il pourra relever la tête.
25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the floods.
J'étendrai sa main puissante sur la mer. Et son empire sur les fleuves.
26 He shall cry vnto mee, Thou art my Father, my God and the rocke of my saluation.
Il m'invoquera, disant: «Tu es mon Père, Mon Dieu, mon rocher protecteur.»
27 Also I wil make him my first borne, higher then the Kings of the earth.
Aussi ferai-je de lui le premier-né, Le souverain des rois de la terre.
28 My mercie will I keepe for him for euermore, and my couenant shall stande fast with him.
Je lui conserverai ma faveur éternellement, Et mon alliance avec lui sera inébranlable.
29 His seede also will I make to endure for euer, and his throne as the dayes of heauen.
Je lui donnerai une postérité éternelle. Et son trône durera autant que les cieux.
30 But if his children forsake my Lawe, and walke not in my iudgements:
Si ses fils abandonnent ma loi Et n'obéissent pas à mes ordres,
31 If they breake my statutes, and keepe not my commandements:
S'ils violent mes commandements Et s'ils n'observent pas mes préceptes,
32 Then will I visite their transgression with the rod, and their iniquitie with strokes.
Je châtierai leurs transgressions en les frappant de la verge, Et leurs iniquités en leur envoyant des fléaux.
33 Yet my louing kindnesse will I not take from him, neither will I falsifie my trueth.
Mais je ne leur retirerai pas ma faveur; Je ne mentirai pas à mes promesses.
34 My couenant wil I not breake, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
Je ne violerai pas mon alliance. Et je ne changerai pas la parole sortie de mes lèvres.
35 I haue sworne once by mine holines, that I will not fayle Dauid, saying,
J'en ai fait le serment, au nom de ma sainteté: Je ne mentirai pas à David.
36 His seede shall endure for euer, and his throne shalbe as the sunne before me.
Sa postérité durera éternellement; Son trône subsistera devant moi aussi longtemps que le soleil.
37 He shalbe established for euermore as the moone, and as a faythfull witnes in the heauen. (Selah)
Comme la lune, il sera inébranlable à jamais; Le témoin qui est dans les cieux est fidèle. (Pause)
38 But thou hast reiected and abhorred, thou hast bene angry with thine Anoynted.
Cependant, tu as repoussé ton oint; tu l'as rejeté, Tu t'es indigné contre lui.
39 Thou hast broken the couenant of thy seruant, and profaned his crowne, casting it on the ground.
Tu as rompu l'alliance conclue avec ton serviteur; Tu as traîné sa couronne dans la poussière.
40 Thou hast broken downe all his walles: thou hast layd his fortresses in ruine.
Tu as renversé toutes ses forteresses: Tu as mis en ruines ses remparts.
41 All that goe by the way, spoyle him: he is a rebuke vnto his neighbours.
Tous les passants le mettent au pillage; Il est couvert d'opprobre par ses voisins.
42 Thou hast set vp the right hand of his enemies, and made all his aduersaries to reioyce.
Tu as fortifié le bras de ses adversaires; Tu as rempli de joie tous ses ennemis.
43 Thou hast also turned the edge of his sworde, and hast not made him to stand in the battell.
Tu as émoussé le tranchant de son épée. Et tu ne l'as pas soutenu dans le combat.
44 Thou hast caused his dignitie to decay, and cast his throne to the ground.
Tu as mis fin à sa splendeur, Et tu as jeté son trône à terre.
45 The dayes of his youth hast thou shortned, and couered him with shame. (Selah)
Tu as abrégé les jours de sa jeunesse. Et tu l'as couvert de honte. (Pause)
46 Lord, howe long wilt thou hide thy selfe, for euer? shall thy wrath burne like fire?
Jusques à quand, ô Éternel, te cacheras-tu sans cesse. Et ta colère brûlera-t-elle comme un feu?
47 Remember of what time I am: wherefore shouldest thou create in vaine all the children of men?
Rappelle-toi quelle est la durée de ma vie. Pour quel néant tu as créé tous les fils des hommes!
48 What man liueth, and shall not see death? shall hee deliuer his soule from the hande of the graue? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Quel homme pourrait vivre et ne pas voir la mort? Qui sauvera son âme de la puissance du Sépulcre? (Pause) (Sheol h7585)
49 Lord, where are thy former mercies, which thou swarest vnto Dauid in thy trueth?
Seigneur, où sont tes bontés premières, Que toi, le Dieu fidèle, tu avais promises à David par serment?
50 Remember, O Lord, the rebuke of thy seruants, which I beare in my bosome of all the mightie people.
Souviens-toi, Seigneur, de l'opprobre de tes serviteurs; Je porte en mon sein l'injure de tant de grands peuples!
51 For thine enemies haue reproched thee, O Lord, because they haue reproched the footesteps of thine Anointed.
Car tes ennemis ont jeté l'outrage, ô Éternel, Tes ennemis ont jeté l'outrage sur les pas de ton oint.
52 Praised be the Lord for euermore. So be it, euen so be it.
Béni soit l'Éternel a perpétuité! Amen, Amen!
