< Psalms 87 >
1 A Psalme or song committed to the sonnes of Korah. God layde his foundations among the holy mountaines.
His foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loueth the gates of Zion aboue all the habitations of Iaakob.
Adonai 'ahav ·affectionately loves· the gates of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] more than all the dwellings of Jacob [Supplanter].
3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O citie of God. (Selah)
Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babel among them that knowe me: beholde Palestina and Tyrus with Ethiopia, There is he borne.
I will record Rahab and Babylon [Confusion] among those who acknowledge me. Behold, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia: “This one was born there.”
5 And of Zion it shall be sayde, Many are borne in her: and he, euen the most High shall stablish her.
Yes, of Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] it will be said, “This one and that one was born in her;” haElyon [the Most High] himself will establish her.
6 The Lord shall count, when hee writeth the people, He was borne there. (Selah)
Adonai will count, when he writes up the peoples, “This one was born there.” (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
7 Aswell the singers as the players on instruments shall prayse thee: all my springs are in thee.
Those who sing as well as those who dance say, “All my springs are in you.”
