Psalms 85
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Lord, thou hast bene fauourable vnto thy land: thou hast brought againe the captiuitie of Iaakob.
Drottinn, þú hefur baðað land þetta blessun! Þú hefur snúið hlutunum Ísrael í hag
2 Thou hast forgiuen the iniquitie of thy people, and couered all their sinnes. (Selah)
og fyrirgefið syndir þjóðar þinnar, já, hulið þær allar!
3 Thou hast withdrawen all thine anger, and hast turned backe from the fiercenes of thy wrath.
Reiði þína hefur þú líka dregið í hlé.
4 Turne vs, O God of our saluation, and release thine anger toward vs.
Dragðu okkur nær þér svo að við getum elskað þig heitar, að þú þurfir ekki að reiðast okkur á ný.
5 Wilt thou be angry with vs for euer? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another?
(Eða mun reiði þín vara að eilífu, frá kynslóð til kynslóðar?)
6 Wilt thou not turne againe and quicken vs, that thy people may reioyce in thee?
Lífgaðu okkur við, þjóð þína, svo að við getum aftur lofað þig.
7 Shew vs thy mercie, O Lord, and graunt vs thy saluation.
Leyfðu okkur að njóta elsku þinnar og gæsku, ó Guð, og veittu okkur hjálp þína.
8 I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speake peace vnto his people, and to his Saintes, that they turne not againe to follie.
Þegar Drottinn talar til þjóðar sinnar, hlusta ég vel, þegar hann ávarpar sinn útvalda lýð. Hann flytur okkur frið og velgengni þegar við snúum hjörtum okkar til hans.
9 Surely his saluation is neere to them that feare him, that glory may dwell in our land.
Vissulega njóta þeir hjálpar hans þeir sem hlýða honum og heiðra hann. Velgengni og blessun hans mun breiðast yfir allt landið.
10 Mercie and trueth shall meete: righteousnes and peace shall kisse one another.
Miskunn og sannleikur munu mætast, réttlæti og friður kyssast!
11 Trueth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousnes shall looke downe from heauen.
Trúfestin eflist á jörðu og réttlætið brosir frá himni!
12 Yea, the Lord shall giue good things, and our land shall giue her increase.
Drottinn blessar landið og það ber margfalda uppskeru.
13 Righteousnesse shall go before him, and shall set her steps in the way.
Réttlæti og friður fylgir Drottni.
