Psalms 85

1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Lord, thou hast bene fauourable vnto thy land: thou hast brought againe the captiuitie of Iaakob.

Dem Sangmeister. Ein Psalm der Söhne Korahs.

2 Thou hast forgiuen the iniquitie of thy people, and couered all their sinnes. (Selah)

Du hast zwar, Jahwe, dein Land begnadigt, / Jakobs Gefangne zurückgeführt;

3 Thou hast withdrawen all thine anger, and hast turned backe from the fiercenes of thy wrath.

Du hast deines Volkes Schuld vergeben, / All seine Sünde zugedeckt; (Sela)

4 Turne vs, O God of our saluation, and release thine anger toward vs.

Hast all deinen Grimm zurückgezogen, / Von deiner Zornglut abgelassen:

5 Wilt thou be angry with vs for euer? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another?

So stell uns nun aber auch wieder her, du Gott unsers Heils, / Gib auf deinen Unmut gegen uns!

6 Wilt thou not turne againe and quicken vs, that thy people may reioyce in thee?

Willst du denn ewig über uns zürnen, / Deinen Grimm hinziehn von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht?

7 Shew vs thy mercie, O Lord, and graunt vs thy saluation.

Willst du uns denn nicht wieder beleben, / Daß sich dein Volk erfreue an dir?

8 I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speake peace vnto his people, and to his Saintes, that they turne not againe to follie.

Laß, Jahwe, uns deine Gnade schaun, / Und deine Hilfe schenke uns!

9 Surely his saluation is neere to them that feare him, that glory may dwell in our land.

Ich will lauschen auf das, was El Jahwe nun reden wird! — / Wahrlich, Frieden verheißt er seinem Volk und seinen Getreuen / Und warnt sie, nicht wieder in Torheit zu fallen.

10 Mercie and trueth shall meete: righteousnes and peace shall kisse one another.

Gewiß, nah ist den Frommen sein Heil, / Daß Herrlichkeit wohne in unserm Land,

11 Trueth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousnes shall looke downe from heauen.

Daß Huld und Treue einander begegnen, / Gerechtigkeit und Friede sich küssen.

12 Yea, the Lord shall giue good things, and our land shall giue her increase.

Treue wird aus der Erde sprossen, / Und Gerechtigkeit schaut vom Himmel herab.

13 Righteousnesse shall go before him, and shall set her steps in the way.

Jahwe wird auch das Gute spenden, / Und unser Land gibt seinen Ertrag. Gerechtigkeit wird vor ihm schreiten / Und ihn begleiten auf seinen Tritten.
