Psalms 85
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Lord, thou hast bene fauourable vnto thy land: thou hast brought againe the captiuitie of Iaakob.
Au chef des chantres. Des fils de Koré. Psaume. Tu as été favorable à ton pays, ô Éternel! Tu as ramené les captifs de Jacob;
2 Thou hast forgiuen the iniquitie of thy people, and couered all their sinnes. (Selah)
Tu as pardonné l’iniquité de ton peuple, Tu as couvert tous ses péchés; (Pause)
3 Thou hast withdrawen all thine anger, and hast turned backe from the fiercenes of thy wrath.
Tu as retiré toute ta fureur, Tu es revenu de l’ardeur de ta colère.
4 Turne vs, O God of our saluation, and release thine anger toward vs.
Rétablis-nous, Dieu de notre salut! Cesse ton indignation contre nous!
5 Wilt thou be angry with vs for euer? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another?
T’irriteras-tu contre nous à jamais? Prolongeras-tu ta colère éternellement?
6 Wilt thou not turne againe and quicken vs, that thy people may reioyce in thee?
Ne nous rendras-tu pas à la vie, Afin que ton peuple se réjouisse en toi?
7 Shew vs thy mercie, O Lord, and graunt vs thy saluation.
Éternel! Fais-nous voir ta bonté, Et accorde-nous ton salut!
8 I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speake peace vnto his people, and to his Saintes, that they turne not againe to follie.
J’écouterai ce que dit Dieu, l’Éternel; Car il parle de paix à son peuple et à ses fidèles, Pourvu qu’ils ne retombent pas dans la folie.
9 Surely his saluation is neere to them that feare him, that glory may dwell in our land.
Oui, son salut est près de ceux qui le craignent, Afin que la gloire habite dans notre pays.
10 Mercie and trueth shall meete: righteousnes and peace shall kisse one another.
La bonté et la fidélité se rencontrent, La justice et la paix s’embrassent;
11 Trueth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousnes shall looke downe from heauen.
La fidélité germe de la terre, Et la justice regarde du haut des cieux.
12 Yea, the Lord shall giue good things, and our land shall giue her increase.
L’Éternel aussi accordera le bonheur, Et notre terre donnera ses fruits.
13 Righteousnesse shall go before him, and shall set her steps in the way.
La justice marchera devant lui, Et imprimera ses pas sur le chemin.
