Psalms 85

1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Lord, thou hast bene fauourable vnto thy land: thou hast brought againe the captiuitie of Iaakob.

Au chef des chantres. Par les fils de Koré. Psaume. Tu as rendu, ô Seigneur, ton affection à ton pays, réparé les ruines de Jacob.

2 Thou hast forgiuen the iniquitie of thy people, and couered all their sinnes. (Selah)

Tu as pardonné les fautes de ton peuple, couvert d’un voile toutes leurs défaillances. (Sélah)

3 Thou hast withdrawen all thine anger, and hast turned backe from the fiercenes of thy wrath.

Tu as réfréné toute ton indignation, renoncé à ton ardente colère.

4 Turne vs, O God of our saluation, and release thine anger toward vs.

Restaure-nous, Dieu de notre salut, mets fin à ton irritation à notre égard.

5 Wilt thou be angry with vs for euer? and wilt thou prolong thy wrath from one generation to another?

Seras-tu à jamais courroucé contre nous? Feras-tu, d’âge en âge, durer ton ressentiment?

6 Wilt thou not turne againe and quicken vs, that thy people may reioyce in thee?

Ne veux-tu pas nous rendre à la vie, pour que ton peuple se réjouisse en toi?

7 Shew vs thy mercie, O Lord, and graunt vs thy saluation.

Montre-nous, Seigneur, ton amour; et ton secours, accorde-le nous.

8 I will hearken what the Lord God will say: for he will speake peace vnto his people, and to his Saintes, that they turne not againe to follie.

Ah! je veux entendre ce que dit Dieu, l’Eternel, car c’est le salut qu’il va annoncer à son peuple et à ses fidèles; mais qu’ils ne retombent plus dans leurs folies!

9 Surely his saluation is neere to them that feare him, that glory may dwell in our land.

Oui, proche est son secours de ses pieux adorateurs, si bien que la gloire élira domicile dans notre pays.

10 Mercie and trueth shall meete: righteousnes and peace shall kisse one another.

L’Amour et la fidélité se donnent la main, la justice et la paix s’embrassent.

11 Trueth shall bud out of the earth, and righteousnes shall looke downe from heauen.

La fidélité va germer du sein de la terre, et la justice briller du haut des cieux.

12 Yea, the Lord shall giue good things, and our land shall giue her increase.

Oui, le Seigneur octroie le bonheur, et notre pays prodigue ses moissons.

13 Righteousnesse shall go before him, and shall set her steps in the way.

La justice marche au-devant de lui, et trace la route devant ses pas.
