Psalms 8

1 To him that excelleth on Gittith. A Psalme of Dauid. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy Name in all the worlde! which hast set thy glory aboue the heauens.

Dem Vorsänger. Auf der Gittit. Ein Psalm Davids. HERR, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde, daß dein Lob bis zum Himmel reicht!

2 Out of the mouth of babes and suckelings hast thou ordeined strength, because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemie and the auenger.

Aus dem Munde von Kindern und Säuglingen hast du eine Macht zugerichtet, um deiner Feinde willen, um den Feind und den Rachgierigen zum Schweigen zu bringen.

3 When I beholde thine heauens, euen the workes of thy fingers, the moone and the starres which thou hast ordeined,

Wenn ich deinen Himmel betrachte, das Werk deiner Finger, den Mond und die Sterne, die du gemacht hast:

4 What is man, say I, that thou art mindefull of him? and the sonne of man, that thou visitest him?

Was ist der Mensch, daß du seiner gedenkst, und des Menschen Sohn, daß du auf ihn achtest?

5 For thou hast made him a little lower then God, and crowned him with glory and worship.

Du hast ihn ein wenig Gottes entbehren lassen; aber mit Ehre und Schmuck hast du ihn gekrönt;

6 Thou hast made him to haue dominion in the workes of thine hands: thou hast put all things vnder his feete:

Du lässest ihn herrschen über die Werke deiner Hände; alles hast du unter seine Füße gelegt:

7 All sheepe and oxen: yea, and the beastes of the fielde:

Schafe und Ochsen allzumal, dazu auch die wilden Tiere;

8 The foules of the ayre, and the fish of the sea, and that which passeth through the paths of the seas.

die Vögel des Himmels und die Fische im Meer, was die Pfade der Meere durchzieht.

9 O Lord our Lord, howe excellent is thy Name in all the world!

HERR, unser Herrscher, wie herrlich ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!
