Psalms 79
1 A Psalme committed to Asaph. O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance: thine holy Temple haue they defiled, and made Ierusalem heapes of stones.
O Dio, nella tua eredità sono entrate le nazioni, hanno profanato il tuo santo tempio, hanno ridotto in macerie Gerusalemme. Salmo. Di Asaf.
2 The dead bodies of thy seruats haue they giuen to be meat vnto foules of ye heauen: and the flesh of thy Saintes vnto the beastes of the earth.
Hanno abbandonato i cadaveri dei tuoi servi in pasto agli uccelli del cielo, la carne dei tuoi fedeli agli animali selvaggi.
3 Their blood haue they shead like waters rounde about Ierusalem, and there was none to burie them.
Hanno versato il loro sangue come acqua intorno a Gerusalemme, e nessuno seppelliva.
4 Wee are a reproche to our neighbours, euen a scorne and derision vnto them that are round about vs.
Siamo divenuti l'obbrobrio dei nostri vicini, scherno e ludibrio di chi ci sta intorno.
5 Lord, howe long wilt thou be angrie, for euer? shall thy gelousie burne like fire?
Fino a quando, Signore, sarai adirato: per sempre? Arderà come fuoco la tua gelosia?
6 Powre out thy wrath vpon the heathen that haue not knowen thee, and vpon the kingdomes that haue not called vpon thy Name.
Riversa il tuo sdegno sui popoli che non ti riconoscono e sui regni che non invocano il tuo nome,
7 For they haue deuoured Iaakob and made his dwelling place desolate.
perché hanno divorato Giacobbe, hanno devastato la sua dimora.
8 Remember not against vs the former iniquities, but make haste and let thy tender mercies preuent vs: for we are in great miserie.
Non imputare a noi le colpe dei nostri padri, presto ci venga incontro la tua misericordia, poiché siamo troppo infelici.
9 Helpe vs, O God of our saluation, for the glorie of thy Name, and deliuer vs, and be mercifull vnto our sinnes for thy Names sake.
Aiutaci, Dio, nostra salvezza, per la gloria del tuo nome, salvaci e perdona i nostri peccati per amore del tuo nome.
10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be knowen among the heathen in our sight by the vengeance of the blood of thy seruants that is shed.
Perché i popoli dovrebbero dire: «Dov'è il loro Dio?». Si conosca tra i popoli, sotto i nostri occhi, la vendetta per il sangue dei tuoi servi.
11 Let the sighing of the prisoners come before thee: according to thy mightie arme preserue the children of death,
Giunga fino a te il gemito dei prigionieri; con la potenza della tua mano salva i votati alla morte.
12 And render to our neighbours seuen folde into their bosome their reproche, wherewith they haue reproched thee, O Lord.
Fà ricadere sui nostri vicini sette volte l'affronto con cui ti hanno insultato, Signore.
13 So wee thy people, and sheepe of thy pasture shall praise thee for euer: and from generation to generation we will set foorth thy praise.
E noi, tuo popolo e gregge del tuo pascolo, ti renderemo grazie per sempre; di età in età proclameremo la tua lode.
