Psalms 78

1 A Psalme to give instruction committed to Asaph. Heare my doctrine, O my people: incline your eares vnto the wordes of my mouth.

आसफ का मसकील मेरी प्रजा, मेरी शिक्षा पर ध्यान दो; जो शिक्षा मैं दे रहा हूं उसे ध्यान से सुनो.

2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will declare high sentences of olde.

मैं अपनी शिक्षा दृष्टान्तों में दूंगा; मैं पूर्वकाल से गोपनीय रखी गई बातों को प्रकाशित करूंगा—

3 Which we haue heard and knowen, and our fathers haue tolde vs.

वे बातें जो हम सुन चुके थे, जो हमें मालूम थीं, वे बातें, जो हमने अपने पूर्वजों से प्राप्‍त की थीं.

4 Wee will not hide them from their children but to the generation to come we wil shewe the praises of the Lord his power also, and his wonderful woorkes that he hath done:

याहवेह द्वारा किए गए स्तुत्य कार्य, जो उनके सामर्थ्य के अद्भुत कार्य हैं, इन्हें हम इनकी संतानों से गुप्‍त नहीं रखेंगे; उनका लिखा भावी पीढ़ी तक किया जायेगा.

5 How he established a testimonie in Iaakob, and ordeined a Law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they shoulde teache their children:

प्रभु ने याकोब के लिए नियम स्थापित किया तथा इस्राएल में व्यवस्था स्थापित कर दिया, इनके संबंध में परमेश्वर का आदेश था कि हमारे पूर्वज अगली पीढ़ी को इनकी शिक्षा दें,

6 That the posteritie might knowe it, and the children, which should be borne, should stand vp, and declare it to their children:

कि आगामी पीढ़ी इनसे परिचित हो जाए, यहां तक कि वे बालक भी, जिनका अभी जन्म भी नहीं हुआ है, कि अपने समय में वे भी अपनी अगली पीढ़ी तक इन्हें बताते जाए.

7 That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the workes of God but keepe his commandements:

तब वे परमेश्वर में अपना भरोसा स्थापित करेंगे और वे परमेश्वर के महाकार्य भूल न सकेंगे, तथा उनके आदेशों का पालन करेंगे.

8 And not to bee as their fathers, a disobedient and rebellious generation: a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirite was not faithfull vnto God.

तब उनका आचरण उनके पूर्वजों के समान न रहेगा, जो हठी और हठीली पीढ़ी प्रमाणित हुई, जिनका हृदय परमेश्वर को समर्पित न था, उनकी आत्माएं उनके प्रति सच्ची नहीं थीं.

9 The children of Ephraim being armed and shooting with the bowe, turned backe in the day of battell.

एफ्राईम के सैनिक यद्यपि धनुष से सुसज्जित थे, युद्ध के दिन वे फिरकर भाग गए;

10 They kept not the couenant of God, but refused to walke in his Lawe,

उन्होंने परमेश्वर से स्थापित वाचा को भंग कर दिया, उन्होंने उनकी व्यवस्था की अधीनता भी अस्वीकार कर दी.

11 And forgate his Actes, and his wonderfull woorkes that he had shewed them.

परमेश्वर द्वारा किए गए महाकार्य, वे समस्त आश्चर्य कार्य, जो उन्हें प्रदर्शित किए गए थे, वे भूल गए.

12 Hee did marueilous thinges in the sight of their fathers in the lande of Egypt: euen in the fielde of Zoan.

ये आश्चर्यकर्म परमेश्वर ने उनके पूर्वजों के देखते उनके सामने किए थे, ये सब मिस्र देश तथा ज़ोअन क्षेत्र में किए गए थे.

13 He deuided the Sea, and led them through: he made also the waters to stand as an heape.

परमेश्वर ने समुद्र जल को विभक्त कर दिया और इसमें उनके लिए मार्ग निर्मित किया; इसके लिए परमेश्वर ने समुद्र जल को दीवार समान खड़ा कर दिया.

14 In the day time also hee led them with a cloude, and all the night with a light of fire.

परमेश्वर दिन के समय उनकी अगुवाई बादल के द्वारा तथा संपूर्ण रात्रि में अग्निप्रकाश के द्वारा करते रहे.

15 He claue the rockes in the wildernes, and gaue them drinke as of the great depths.

परमेश्वर ने बंजर भूमि में चट्टानों को फाड़कर उन्हें इतना जल प्रदान किया, जितना जल समुद्र में होता है;

16 He brought floods also out of the stonie rocke; so that hee made the waters to descend like the riuers.

उन्होंने चट्टान में से जलधाराएं प्रवाहित कर दीं, कि जल नदी समान प्रवाहित हो चला.

17 Yet they sinned stil against him, and prouoked the Highest in the wildernesse,

यह सब होने पर भी वे परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध पाप करते ही रहे, बंजर भूमि में उन्होंने सर्वोच्च परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया.

18 And tempted God in their heartes in requiring meate for their lust.

जिस भोजन के लिए वे लालायित थे, उसके लिए हठ करके उन्होंने मन ही मन परमेश्वर की परीक्षा ली.

19 They spake against God also, saying, Can God prepare a table in the wildernesse?

वे यह कहते हुए परमेश्वर की निंदा करते रहे; “क्या परमेश्वर बंजर भूमि में भी हमें भोजन परोस सकते हैं?

20 Behold, he smote the rocke, that the water gushed out, and the streames ouerflowed: can hee giue bread also? or prepare flesh for his people?

जब उन्होंने चट्टान पर प्रहार किया तो जल-स्रोत फूट पड़े तथा विपुल जलधाराएं बहने लगीं; किंतु क्या वह हमें भोजन भी दे सकते हैं? क्या वह संपूर्ण प्रजा के लिए मांस भोजन का भी प्रबंध कर सकते हैं?”

21 Therefore the Lord heard and was angrie, and the fire was kindled in Iaakob, and also wrath came vpon Israel,

यह सुन याहवेह अत्यंत उदास हो गए; याकोब के विरुद्ध उनकी अग्नि भड़क उठी, उनका क्रोध इस्राएल के विरुद्ध भड़क उठा,

22 Because they beleeued not in God, and trusted not in his helpe.

क्योंकि उन्होंने न तो परमेश्वर में विश्वास किया और न उनके उद्धार पर भरोसा किया.

23 Yet he had comanded the clouds aboue, and had opened the doores of heauen,

यह होने पर भी उन्होंने आकाश को आदेश दिया और स्वर्ग के झरोखे खोल दिए;

24 And had rained downe MAN vpon them for to eate, and had giuen them of the wheate of heauen.

उन्होंने उनके भोजन के लिए मन्‍ना वृष्टि की, उन्होंने उन्हें स्वर्गिक अन्‍न प्रदान किया.

25 Man did eate the bread of Angels: hee sent them meate ynough.

मनुष्य वह भोजन कर रहे थे, जो स्वर्गदूतों के लिए निर्धारित था; परमेश्वर ने उन्हें भरपेट भोजन प्रदान किया.

26 He caused the Eastwinde to passe in the heauen, and through his power he brought in the Southwinde.

स्वर्ग से उन्होंने पूर्वी हवा प्रवाहित की, अपने सामर्थ्य में उन्होंने दक्षिणी हवा भी प्रवाहित की.

27 Hee rained flesh also vpon them as dust, and feathered foule as the sand of the sea.

उन्होंने उनके लिए मांस की ऐसी वृष्टि की, मानो वह धूलि मात्र हो, पक्षी ऐसे उड़ रहे थे, जैसे सागर तट पर रेत कण उड़ते हैं.

28 And hee made it fall in the middes of their campe euen round about their habitations.

परमेश्वर ने पक्षियों को उनके मण्डपों में घुस जाने के लिए बाध्य कर दिया, वे मंडप के चारों ओर छाए हुए थे.

29 So they did eate and were well filled: for he gaue them their desire.

उन्होंने तृप्‍त होने के बाद भी इन्हें खाया. परमेश्वर ने उन्हें वही प्रदान कर दिया था, जिसकी उन्होंने कामना की थी.

30 They were not turned from their lust, but the meate was yet in their mouthes,

किंतु इसके पूर्व कि वे अपने कामना किए भोजन से तृप्‍त होते, जब भोजन उनके मुख में ही था,

31 When the wrath of God came euen vpon them, and slew the strongest of them, and smote downe the chosen men in Israel.

परमेश्वर का रोष उन पर भड़क उठा; परमेश्वर ने उनके सबसे सशक्तों को मिटा डाला, उन्होंने इस्राएल के युवाओं को मिटा डाला.

32 For all this, they sinned stil, and beleeued not his wonderous woorkes.

इतना सब होने पर भी वे पाप से दूर न हुए; समस्त आश्चर्य कार्यों को देखने के बाद भी उन्होंने विश्वास नहीं किया.

33 Therefore their daies did hee consume in vanitie, and their yeeres hastily.

तब परमेश्वर ने उनके दिन व्यर्थता में तथा उनके वर्ष आतंक में समाप्‍त कर दिए.

34 And when hee slewe them, they sought him and they returned, and sought God earely.

जब कभी परमेश्वर ने उनमें से किसी को मारा, वे बाकी परमेश्वर को खोजने लगे; वे दौड़कर परमेश्वर की ओर लौट गये.

35 And they remembred that God was their strength, and the most high God their redeemer.

उन्हें यह स्मरण आया कि परमेश्वर उनके लिए चट्टान हैं, उन्हें यह स्मरण आया कि सर्वोच्च परमेश्वर उनके उद्धारक हैं.

36 But they flattered him with their mouth, and dissembled with him with their tongue.

किंतु उन्होंने अपने मुख से परमेश्वर की चापलूसी की, अपनी जीभ से उन्होंने उनसे झूठाचार किया;

37 For their heart was not vpright with him: neither were they faithfull in his couenant.

उनके हृदय में सच्चाई नहीं थी, वे उनके साथ बांधी गई वाचा के प्रतिनिष्ठ न रहे.

38 Yet he being merciful forgaue their iniquitie, and destroied them not, but oft times called backe his anger, and did not stirre vp all his wrath.

फिर भी परमेश्वर उनके प्रति कृपालु बने रहे; परमेश्वर ही ने उनके अपराधों को क्षमा कर दिया और उनका विनाश न होने दिया. बार-बार वह अपने कोप पर नियंत्रण करते रहे और उन्होंने अपने समग्र प्रकोप को प्रगट न होने दिया.

39 For he remembered that they were flesh: yea, a winde that passeth and commeth not againe.

परमेश्वर को यह स्मरण रहा कि वे मात्र मनुष्य ही हैं—पवन के समान, जो बहने के बाद लौटकर नहीं आता.

40 How oft did they prouoke him in the wildernes? and grieue him in the desert?

बंजर भूमि में कितनी ही बार उन्होंने परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया, कितनी ही बार उन्होंने उजाड़ भूमि में उन्हें उदास किया!

41 Yea, they returned, and tempted God, and limited the Holie one of Israel.

बार-बार वे परीक्षा लेकर परमेश्वर को उकसाते रहे; वे इस्राएल के पवित्र परमेश्वर को क्रोधित करते रहे.

42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he deliuered them from the enemie,

वे परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य को भूल गए, जब परमेश्वर ने उन्हें अत्याचारी की अधीनता से छुड़ा लिया था.

43 Nor him that set his signes in Egypt, and his wonders in the fielde of Zoan,

जब परमेश्वर ने मिस्र देश में चमत्कार चिन्ह प्रदर्शित किए, जब ज़ोअन प्रदेश में आश्चर्य कार्य किए थे.

44 And turned their riuers into blood, and their floods, that they could not drinke.

परमेश्वर ने नदी को रक्त में बदल दिया; वे जलधाराओं से जल पीने में असमर्थ हो गए.

45 Hee sent a swarme of flies among them, which deuoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them.

परमेश्वर ने उन पर कुटकी के समूह भेजे, जो उन्हें निगल गए. मेंढकों ने वहां विध्वंस कर डाला.

46 He gaue also their fruites vnto the caterpiller, and their labour vnto the grassehopper.

परमेश्वर ने उनकी उपज हासिल टिड्डों को, तथा उनके उत्पाद अरबेह टिड्डियों को सौंप दिए.

47 He destroied their vines with haile, and their wilde figge trees with the hailestone.

उनकी द्राक्षा उपज ओलों से नष्ट कर दी गई, तथा उनके गूलर-अंजीर पाले में नष्ट हो गए.

48 He gaue their cattell also to the haile, and their flockes to the thunderboltes.

उनका पशु धन भी ओलों द्वारा नष्ट कर दिया गया, तथा उनकी भेड़-बकरियों को बिजलियों द्वारा.

49 Hee cast vpon them the fiercenesse of his anger, indignation and wrath, and vexation by the sending out of euill Angels.

परमेश्वर का उत्तप्‍त क्रोध, प्रकोप तथा आक्रोश उन पर टूट पड़ा, ये सभी उनके विनाशक दूत थे.

50 He made a way to his anger: he spared not their soule from death, but gaue their life to the pestilence,

परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रकोप का पथ तैयार किया था; उन्होंने उन्हें मृत्यु से सुरक्षा प्रदान नहीं की परंतु उन्हें महामारी को सौंप दिया.

51 And smote al the firstborne in Egypt, euen the beginning of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham.

मिस्र के सभी पहलौठों को परमेश्वर ने हत्या कर दी, हाम के मण्डपों में पौरुष के प्रथम फलों का.

52 But hee made his people to goe out like sheepe, and led them in the wildernes like a flocke.

किंतु उन्होंने भेड़ के झुंड के समान अपनी प्रजा को बचाया; बंजर भूमि में वह भेड़ का झुंड के समान उनकी अगुवाई करते रहे.

53 Yea, he caried them out safely, and they feared not, and the Sea couered their enemies.

उनकी अगुवाई ने उन्हें सुरक्षा प्रदान की, फलस्वरूप वे अभय आगे बढ़ते गए; जबकि उनके शत्रुओं को समुद्र ने समेट लिया.

54 And he brought them vnto the borders of his Sanctuarie: euen to this Mountaine, which his right hand purchased.

यह सब करते हुए परमेश्वर उन्हें अपनी पवित्र भूमि की सीमा तक, उस पर्वतीय भूमि तक ले आए जिस पर उनके दायें हाथ ने अपने अधीन किया था.

55 He cast out the heathe also before them, and caused them to fall to the lot of his inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tabernacles.

तब उन्होंने जनताओं को वहां से काटकर अलग कर दिया और उनकी भूमि अपनी प्रजा में भाग स्वरूप बाट दिया; इस्राएल के समस्त गोत्रों को उनके आवास प्रदान करके उन्हें वहां बसा दिया.

56 Yet they tempted, and prouoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies,

इतना सब होने के बाद भी उन्होंने परमेश्वर की परीक्षा ली, उन्होंने सर्वोच्च परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध विद्रोह किया; उन्होंने परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं को भंग कर दिया.

57 But turned backe and delt falsely like their fathers: they turned like a deceitfull bowe.

अपने पूर्वजों के जैसे वे भी अकृतज्ञ तथा विश्वासघाती हो गए; वैसे ही अयोग्य, जैसा एक दोषपूर्ण धनुष होता है.

58 And they prouoked him to anger with their high places, and mooued him to wrath with their grauen images.

उन्होंने देवताओं के लिए निर्मित वेदियों के द्वारा परमेश्वर के क्रोध को भड़काया है; उन प्रतिमाओं ने परमेश्वर में डाह भाव उत्तेजित किया.

59 God heard this and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel,

उन्हें सुन परमेश्वर को अत्यंत झुंझलाहट सी हो गई; उन्होंने इस्राएल को पूर्णतः छोड़ दिया.

60 So that hee forsooke the habitation of Shilo, euen the Tabernacle where hee dwelt among men,

उन्होंने शीलो के निवास-मंडप का परित्याग कर दिया, जिसे उन्होंने मनुष्य के मध्य बसा दिया था.

61 And deliuered his power into captiuitie, and his beautie into the enemies hand.

परमेश्वर ने अपने सामर्थ्य के संदूक को बन्दीत्व में भेज दिया, उनका वैभव शत्रुओं के वश में हो गया.

62 And hee gaue vp his people to the sworde, and was angrie with his inheritance.

उन्होंने अपनी प्रजा तलवार को भेंट कर दी; अपने ही निज भाग पर वह अत्यंत उदास थे.

63 The fire deuoured their chosen men, and their maides were not praised.

अग्नि उनके युवाओं को निगल कर गई, उनकी कन्याओं के लिए कोई भी वैवाहिक गीत-संगीत शेष न रह गया.

64 Their Priestes fell by the sworde, and their widowes lamented not.

उनके पुरोहितों का तलवार से वध कर दिया गया, उनकी विधवाएं आंसुओं के लिए असमर्थ हो गईं.

65 But the Lord awaked as one out of sleepe, and as a strong man that after his wine crieth out,

तब मानो प्रभु की नींद भंग हो गई, कुछ वैसे ही, जैसे कोई वीर दाखमधु की होश से बाहर आ गया हो.

66 And smote his enemies in the hinder parts, and put them to a perpetuall shame.

परमेश्वर ने अपने शत्रुओं को ऐसे मार भगाया; कि उनकी लज्जा चिरस्थाई हो गई.

67 Yet he refused the tabernacle of Ioseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:

तब परमेश्वर ने योसेफ़ के मण्डपों को अस्वीकार कर दिया, उन्होंने एफ्राईम के गोत्र को नहीं चुना;

68 But chose the tribe of Iudah, and mount Zion which he loued.

किंतु उन्होंने यहूदाह गोत्र को चुन लिया, अपने प्रिय ज़ियोन पर्वत को.

69 And he built his Sanctuarie as an high palace, like the earth, which he stablished for euer.

परमेश्वर ने अपना पवित्र आवास उच्च पर्वत जैसा निर्मित किया, पृथ्वी-सा चिरस्थाई.

70 He chose Dauid also his seruant, and tooke him from the shepefolds.

उन्होंने अपने सेवक दावीद को चुन लिया, इसके लिए उन्होंने उन्हें भेड़शाला से बाहर निकाल लाया;

71 Euen from behinde the ewes with yong brought he him to feede his people in Iaakob, and his inheritance in Israel.

भेड़ों के चरवाहे से उन्हें लेकर परमेश्वर ने उन्हें अपनी प्रजा याकोब का रखवाला बना दिया, इस्राएल का, जो उनके निज भाग हैं.

72 So he fed them according to the simplicitie of his heart, and guided them by the discretion of his hands.

दावीद उनकी देखभाल हृदय की सच्चाई में करते रहे; उनके कुशल हाथों ने उनकी अगुवाई की.
