Psalms 74
1 A Psalme to give instruction, committed to Asaph. O God, why hast thou put vs away for euer? why is thy wrath kindled against the sheepe of thy pasture?
Un Psaume de méditation d'Asaph. Pourquoi, mon Dieu, m'as-tu repoussé pour toujours? Pourquoi ta colère est-elle excitée contre les brebis de tes pâturages?
2 Thinke vpon thy Congregation, which thou hast possessed of olde, and on the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed, and on this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
Souviens-toi du troupeau que, dès le commencement, tu as acquis; tu as racheté le rameau de ton héritage, cette montagne de Sion, où tu as dressé ton tabernacle.
3 Lift vp thy strokes, that thou mayest for euer destroy euery enemie that doeth euill to the Sanctuarie.
Lève les mains pour mettre fin à leur orgueil; que de mal a fait l'ennemi en tes lieux saints!
4 Thine aduersaries roare in the middes of thy Congregation, and set vp their banners for signes.
Comme ceux qui te haïssent se sont glorifiés au milieu de tes fêtes! Ils ont posé leurs étendards, comme des signaux,
5 He that lifted the axes vpon the thicke trees, was renowmed, as one, that brought a thing to perfection:
A la porte d'en haut, sans savoir ce qu'ils faisaient. Comme dans une forêt, avec des haches,
6 But nowe they breake downe the carued worke thereof with axes and hammers.
Ils ont frappé les battants de cette porte au même endroit; ils l'ont brisée avec la hache et le levier.
7 They haue cast thy Sanctuarie into the fire, and rased it to the grounde, and haue defiled the dwelling place of thy Name.
Ils ont brûlé par le feu ton sanctuaire sur la terre; ils ont souillé le tabernacle de ton nom.
8 They saide in their hearts, Let vs destroy them altogether: they haue burnt all the Synagogues of God in the land.
Ils ont dit en leur cœur, et leur race, réunie au même lieu, a dit: Allons, abolissons en cette terre les fêtes du Seigneur!
9 We see not our signes: there is not one Prophet more, nor any with vs that knoweth howe long.
Nous ne voyons plus nos signes; il n'est plus de prophètes, et l'on ne nous reconnaîtra pas.
10 O God, howe long shall the aduersarie reproche thee? shall the enemie blaspheme thy Name for euer?
Jusques à quand, mon Dieu, l'ennemi t'outragera-t-il? L'ennemi provoquera-t-il toujours ton nom?
11 Why withdrawest thou thine hand, euen thy right hand? drawe it out of thy bosome, and consume them.
Pourquoi as-tu détourné ta main, ta droite du milieu de ton sein? Est-ce pour toujours?
12 Euen God is my King of olde, working saluation in the middes of the earth.
Cependant Dieu, notre roi avant les siècles, a opéré notre salut au milieu de la terre.
13 Thou didest deuide the sea by thy power: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters.
Par ta puissance tu as dompté la mer; tu as brisé sur les eaux la tête des dragons.
14 Thou brakest the head of Liuiathan in pieces, and gauest him to be meate for the people in wildernesse.
Tu as brisé les têtes du dragon; tu l'as donné pour nourriture aux peuples éthiopiens.
15 Thou brakest vp the fountaine and riuer: thou dryedst vp mightie riuers.
Tu as ouvert les fontaines et les torrents; tu as desséché les fleuves d'Etham.
16 The day is thine, and the night is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sunne.
Le jour est à toi, la nuit est à toi, tu as préparé la lune et le soleil.
17 Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter.
Tu as fait toutes les limites de la terre; tu as fait l'été et le printemps.
18 Remember this, that the enemie hath reproched the Lord, and the foolish people hath blasphemed thy Name.
Souviens-toi de ta création; l'ennemi a outragé le Seigneur, et un peuple insensé a provoqué son nom.
19 Giue not the soule of thy turtle doue vnto the beast, and forget not the Congregation of thy poore for euer.
Ne livre point aux bêtes fauves l'âme qui te loue, et n'oublie pas pour toujours l'âme de tes pauvres.
20 Consider thy couenant: for the darke places of the earth are full of the habitations of the cruell.
Considère ton alliance; car les lieux obscurs de la terre sont remplis de maisons d'iniquités.
21 Oh let not the oppressed returne ashamed, but let the poore and needie prayse thy Name.
Que l'affligé, que l'humble ne soient point rejetés; le pauvre et le nécessiteux loueront ton nom.
22 Arise, O God: mainteine thine owne cause: remember thy dayly reproche by the foolish man.
Lève-toi, ô Dieu, rends tes jugements; souviens-toi des outrages que te prodigue l'insensé tout le jour.
23 Forget not the voyce of thine enemies: for the tumult of them, that rise against thee, ascendeth continually.
N'oublie point la voix de tes suppliants, et que l'orgueil de ceux qui te haïssent monte toujours jusqu'à toi.
