Psalms 56
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David on Michtam, concerning the dumme doue in a farre countrey, when the Philistims tooke him in Gath. Be mercifull vnto me, O God, for man would swallow me vp: he fighteth continually and vexeth me.
Dem Vorsänger. «Von der stummen Taube unter den Fremden.» Eine Denkschrift Davids; als ihn die Philister ergriffen zu Gat. O Gott, sei mir gnädig; denn es schnaubt ein Mensch wider mich, immerfort bekriegt und bedrängt er mich!
2 Mine enemies would dayly swallowe mee vp: for many fight against me, O thou most High.
Meine Widersacher schnauben den ganzen Tag, ja viele Hohe streiten wider mich.
3 When I was afrayd, I trusted in thee.
Wenn mir angst ist, vertraue ich auf dich!
4 I will reioyce in God, because of his word, I trust in God, and will not feare what flesh can doe vnto me.
In Gott will ich rühmen sein Wort; auf Gott vertraue ich und habe keine Furcht; was kann Fleisch mir antun?
5 Mine owne wordes grieue me dayly: all their thoughtes are against me to doe me hurt.
Täglich lauern sie auf meine Worte, auf mein Unglück gehen alle ihre Gedanken;
6 They gather together, and keepe them selues close: they marke my steps, because they waite for my soule.
sie rotten sich zusammen, lauschen im Verborgenen, beobachten meine Tritte und lauern auf mein Leben.
7 They thinke they shall escape by iniquitie: O God, cast these people downe in thine anger.
Sollten sie bei ihrer Bosheit entrinnen? O Gott, stürze die Völker im Zorn!
8 Thou hast counted my wandrings: put my teares into thy bottel: are they not in thy register?
Du zählst, wie oft ich fliehen muß; sammle meine Tränen in deinen Schlauch! Stehen sie nicht in deinem Buch?
9 When I cry, then mine enemies shall turne backe: this I know, for God is with me.
Am Tage, da ich rufe, weichen meine Feinde zurück; das weiß ich, daß Gott für mich ist.
10 I will reioyce in God because of his worde: in the Lord wil I reioyce because of his worde.
In Gott will ich rühmen das Wort, im HERRN will ich rühmen das Wort;
11 In God doe I trust: I will not be afrayd what man can doe vnto me.
auf Gott vertraue ich und habe keine Furcht; was kann ein Mensch mir antun?
12 Thy vowes are vpon me, O God: I will render prayses vnto thee.
Die Gelübde, die ich dir, o Gott, gelobt, liegen auf mir; ich will dir Dankopfer bezahlen!
13 For thou hast deliuered my soule from death, and also my feete from falling, that I may walke before God in the light of the liuing.
Denn hast du nicht meine Seele vom Tode errettet, meine Füße vom Gleiten, damit ich vor Gottes Angesicht wandle im Lichte des Lebens?
