Psalms 55
1 To him that excelleth on Neginoth. A Psalme of David to give instruction. Heare my prayer, O God, and hide not thy selfe from my supplication.
Pour le musicien en chef. Sur les instruments à cordes. Une contemplation de David. Écoute ma prière, Dieu. Ne te cache pas de ma supplication.
2 Hearken vnto me, and answere me: I mourne in my prayer, and make a noyse,
Occupe-toi de moi, et réponds-moi. Je suis agité dans ma plainte, et gémir
3 For the voyce of the enemie, and for the vexation of ye wicked, because they haue brought iniquitie vpon me, and furiously hate me.
à cause de la voix de l'ennemi, à cause de l'oppression des méchants. Car ils me font souffrir. En colère, ils m'en veulent.
4 Mine heart trembleth within mee, and the terrours of death are fallen vpon me.
Mon cœur est gravement blessé au-dedans de moi. Les terreurs de la mort se sont abattues sur moi.
5 Feare and trembling are come vpon mee, and an horrible feare hath couered me.
La crainte et le tremblement me saisissent. L'horreur m'a submergé.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a doue: then would I flie away and rest.
Je disais: « Oh, si j'avais des ailes comme une colombe! Puis je m'envolerais, et je serais en paix.
7 Beholde, I woulde take my flight farre off, and lodge in the wildernes. (Selah)
Voici, je m'égarerais au loin. Je voudrais me loger dans le désert. (Selah)
8 Hee would make haste for my deliuerance from the stormie winde and tempest.
« Je me précipiterais vers un abri pour me protéger du vent et de la tempête. »
9 Destroy, O Lord, and deuide their tongues: for I haue seene crueltie and strife in the citie.
Embrouillez-les, Seigneur, et confondez leur langage, car j'ai vu de la violence et des querelles dans la ville.
10 Day and night they goe about it vpon the walles thereof: both iniquitie and mischiefe are in the middes of it.
Jour et nuit, ils rôdent sur ses murs. La malice et l'abus sont également en elle.
11 Wickednes is in the middes thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streetes.
Les forces destructrices sont en elle. Les menaces et les mensonges ne quittent pas ses rues.
12 Surely mine enemie did not defame mee: for I could haue borne it: neither did mine aduersarie exalt himselfe against mee: for I would haue hid me from him.
Car ce n'est pas un ennemi qui m'a insulté, alors j'aurais pu l'endurer. Ce n'est pas non plus celui qui me haïssait qui s'est élevé contre moi, alors je me serais caché de lui.
13 But it was thou, O man, euen my companion, my guide and my familiar:
Mais c'était toi, un homme comme moi, mon compagnon, et mon ami familier.
14 Which delited in consulting together, and went into the House of God as companions.
Nous avons pris une douce communion ensemble. Nous avons marché dans la maison de Dieu avec de la compagnie.
15 Let death sense vpon them: let them goe downe quicke into the graue: for wickednes is in their dwellings, euen in the middes of them. (Sheol h7585)
Que la mort vienne soudainement sur eux. Qu'ils descendent vivants dans le séjour des morts. Car la méchanceté est au milieu d'eux, dans leur demeure. (Sheol h7585)
16 But I will call vnto God, and the Lord will saue me.
Quant à moi, j'invoquerai Dieu. Yahvé me sauvera.
17 Euening and morning, and at noone will I pray, and make a noyse, and he wil heare my voice.
Le soir, le matin et à midi, je crierai ma détresse. Il entendra ma voix.
18 He hath deliuered my soule in peace from the battel, that was against me: for many were with me.
Il a racheté mon âme en paix de la bataille qui était contre moi, bien qu'il y ait beaucoup de gens qui s'opposent à moi.
19 God shall heare and afflict them, euen hee that reigneth of olde, (Selah) because they haue no changes, therefore they feare not God.
Dieu, qui est sur le trône pour toujours, les entendra et leur répondra. (Selah) Ils ne changent jamais et ne craignent pas Dieu.
20 Hee layed his hande vpon such, as be at peace with him, and he brake his couenant.
Il lève ses mains contre ses amis. Il a violé son alliance.
21 The wordes of his mouth were softer then butter, yet warre was in his heart: his words were more gentle then oyle, yet they were swordes.
Sa bouche était lisse comme du beurre, mais son cœur était la guerre. Ses mots étaient plus doux que de l'huile, mais ce sont des épées dégainées.
22 Cast thy burden vpon the Lord, and hee shall nourish thee: he wil not suffer the righteous to fall for euer.
Dépose ton fardeau sur Yahvé et il te soutiendra. Il ne permettra jamais aux justes d'être déplacés.
23 And thou, O God, shalt bring them downe into the pitte of corruption: the bloudie, and deceitfull men shall not liue halfe their dayes: but I will trust in thee.
Mais toi, Dieu, tu les feras descendre dans la fosse de la destruction. Les hommes sanguinaires et fourbes ne vivront pas la moitié de leurs jours, mais j'ai confiance en toi.
