Psalms 52
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme of Dauid to giue instruction. When Doeg the Edomite came and shewed Saul, and saide to him, Dauid is come to the house of Abimelech. Why boastest thou thy selfe in thy wickednesse, O man of power? the louing kindenesse of God indureth dayly.
Pour le chef musicien. Une contemplation de David, lorsque Dœg, l'Edomite, vint dire à Saül: « David est venu à la maison d'Ahimelech. » Pourquoi te vantes-tu de tes méfaits, homme puissant? La bonté de Dieu dure continuellement.
2 Thy tongue imagineth mischiefe, and is like a sharpe rasor, that cutteth deceitfully.
Ta langue prépare la destruction, comme un rasoir aiguisé, travaillant de manière trompeuse.
3 Thou doest loue euill more then good, and lies more then to speake the trueth. (Selah)
Vous aimez le mal plus que le bien, mentir plutôt que de dire la vérité. (Selah)
4 Thou louest all wordes that may destroye, O deceitfull tongue!
Tu aimes toutes les paroles dévorantes, langue trompeuse.
5 So shall God destroy thee for euer: he shall take thee and plucke thee out of thy tabernacle, and roote thee out of ye land of the liuing. (Selah)
De même, Dieu vous détruira à jamais. Il te prendra et t'arrachera de ta tente, et vous déraciner de la terre des vivants. (Selah)
6 The righteous also shall see it, and feare, and shall laugh at him, saying,
Les justes aussi le verront, et ils auront peur, et se moquent de lui en disant,
7 Beholde the man that tooke not God for his strength, but trusted vnto the multitude of his riches, and put his strength in his malice.
« Voici l'homme qui n'a pas fait de Dieu sa force, mais il s'est confié à l'abondance de ses richesses, et s'est fortifié dans sa méchanceté. »
8 But I shall bee like a greene oliue tree in the house of God: for I trusted in the mercie of God for euer and euer.
Quant à moi, je suis comme un olivier vert dans la maison de Dieu. J'ai confiance en la bonté de Dieu pour les siècles des siècles.
9 I will alway praise thee, for that thou hast done this, and I will hope in thy Name, because it is good before thy Saints.
Je te louerai toujours, car tu l'as fait. J'espère en ton nom, car il est bon, en présence de tes saints.
