Psalms 47

1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. All people clap your hands: sing loude vnto God with a ioyfull voyce.

Per il Capo de’ musici. Dei figliuoli di Core. Salmo. Battete le mani, o popoli tutti; acclamate Iddio con grida d’allegrezza!

2 For the Lord is high, and terrible: a great King ouer all the earth.

Poiché l’Eterno, l’Altissimo, è tremendo, re supremo su tutta la terra.

3 He hath subdued the people vnder vs, and the nations vnder our feete.

Egli riduce i popoli sotto di noi, e le nazioni sotto i nostri piedi.

4 Hee hath chosen our inheritance for vs: euen the glory of Iaakob whom he loued. (Selah)

Egli scelse per noi la nostra eredità, gloria di Giacobbe ch’egli ama. (Sela)

5 God is gone vp with triumph, euen the Lord, with the sound of the trumpet.

Iddio è salito in mezzo alle acclamazioni, l’Eterno è salito al suon delle trombe.

6 Sing prayses to God, sing prayses: sing prayses vnto our King, sing prayses.

Salmeggiate a Dio, salmeggiate; salmeggiate al nostro re, salmeggiate!

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing prayses euery one that hath vnderstanding.

Poiché Dio è re di tutta la terra; cantategli un bell’inno.

8 God reigneth ouer the heathen: God sitteth vpon his holy throne.

Iddio regna sulle nazioni; Iddio siede sul trono della sua santità.

9 The princes of the people are gathered vnto the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the world belong to God: he is greatly to be exalted.

I principi de’ popoli s’adunano assieme per essere il popolo dell’Iddio d’Abramo: perché a Dio appartengono i potenti della terra; egli è sommamente elevato.
