Psalms 47

1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. All people clap your hands: sing loude vnto God with a ioyfull voyce.

[Dem Vorsänger. Von den Söhnen Korahs, ein Psalm.] Ihr Völker alle, klatschet in die Hände! Jauchzet Gott mit Jubelschall!

2 For the Lord is high, and terrible: a great King ouer all the earth.

Denn Jehova, der Höchste, ist furchtbar, ein großer König über die ganze Erde.

3 He hath subdued the people vnder vs, and the nations vnder our feete.

Er unterwarf uns die Völker, und die Völkerschaften unter unsere Füße.

4 Hee hath chosen our inheritance for vs: euen the glory of Iaakob whom he loued. (Selah)

Er erwählte für uns unser Erbteil, den Stolz Jakobs, den er geliebt hat. (Sela)

5 God is gone vp with triumph, euen the Lord, with the sound of the trumpet.

Gott ist emporgestiegen unter Jauchzen, Jehova unter Posaunenschall.

6 Sing prayses to God, sing prayses: sing prayses vnto our King, sing prayses.

Singet Gott Psalmen, [Eig. Singspielet] singet Psalmen; singet Psalmen unserem König, singet Psalmen!

7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing prayses euery one that hath vnderstanding.

Denn Gott ist König der ganzen Erde; singet Psalmen mit Einsicht! [Eig. Singet Maskil. S. die Anm. zu Ps. 32, Überschrift]

8 God reigneth ouer the heathen: God sitteth vpon his holy throne.

Gott regiert über die Nationen; Gott hat sich auf den Thron seiner Heiligkeit gesetzt.

9 The princes of the people are gathered vnto the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the world belong to God: he is greatly to be exalted.

Die Edlen der Völker haben sich versammelt und das Volk [O. als ein Volk] des Gottes Abrahams; denn die Schilde [d. h. die Fürsten, die Schirmherren] der Erde sind Gottes; er ist sehr erhaben.
