Psalms 44
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. We haue heard with our eares, O God: our fathers haue tolde vs the workes, that thou hast done in their dayes, in the olde time:
Ha llegado a nuestros oídos, oh Dios, nuestros padres nos han contado la historia de las obras que hiciste en sus días, en los viejos tiempos,
2 Howe thou hast driuen out the heathen with thine hand, and planted them: how thou hast destroyed the people, and caused them to grow.
Arrebatando las naciones con tu mano, y plantando a nuestros padres en su lugar; reduciendo las naciones, pero aumentando el crecimiento de tu gente.
3 For they inherited not the lande by their owne sworde, neither did their owne arme saue them: but thy right hand, and thine arme and the light of thy countenance, because thou didest fauour them.
Porque no hicieron suya la tierra con sus espadas, y no fueron sus armas las que los salvaron; si no con tu diestra, y tu brazo, y la luz de tu rostro, porque tuviste placer en ellos.
4 Thou art my King, O God: send helpe vnto Iaakob.
Tú, eres mi Rey y mi Dios; ordenando la salvación para Jacob.
5 Through thee haue we thrust backe our aduersaries: by thy Name haue we troden downe them that rose vp against vs.
A través de ti venceremos a nuestros enemigos; por tu nombre serán aplastados nuestros adversarios.
6 For I do not trust in my bowe, neither can my sworde saue me.
No pondré mi confianza en mi arco, mi espada no será mi salvación.
7 But thou hast saued vs from our aduersaries, and hast put them to confusion that hate vs.
Pero eres tú quien has sido nuestro salvador contra los que estaban contra nosotros, y has avergonzado a los que nos odiaban.
8 Therefore will wee praise God continually, and will confesse thy Name for euer. (Selah)
Nuestro orgullo está en Dios en todo momento, y su nombre alabamos para siempre. (Selah)
9 But now thou art farre off, and puttest vs to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.
Pero ahora nos has apartado de ti y nos has avergonzado; no sales con nuestros ejércitos.
10 Thou makest vs to turne backe from the aduersary, and they, which hate vs, spoile for theselues.
Nos hiciste retroceder delante delante del enemigo: quienes nos odian toman nuestros bienes para sí mismos.
11 Thou giuest vs as sheepe to bee eaten, and doest scatter vs among the nations.
Nos hiciste como ovejas que se toman para él matadero; y nos has esparcido entre las naciones.
12 Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.
vendiste a tu pueblo muy barato; su riqueza no aumenta por su precio.
13 Thou makest vs a reproche to our neighbours, a iest and a laughing stocke to them that are round about vs.
Nos has hecho ser menospreciados por nuestros vecinos, se burlan y nos avergüenzan los que nos rodean.
14 Thou makest vs a prouerbe among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.
Nuestro nombre es una palabra de vergüenza entre las naciones, al vernos. mueven la cabezas burlones entre los pueblos.
15 My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face hath couered me,
Mi desgracia está siempre delante de mí, y estoy cubierto de vergüenza en mi rostro;
16 For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.
Por la voz del que dice palabras de reproche y deshonra; por el que odia y por él vengativo.
17 All this is come vpon vs, yet doe wee not forget thee, neither deale wee falsly concerning thy couenant.
Todo esto ha venido sobre nosotros, pero aún así te hemos mantenido en nuestra memoria; y no hemos faltado a tu pacto.
18 Our heart is not turned backe: neither our steps gone out of thy paths,
Nuestros corazones no han vuelto atrás. y nuestros pasos no han sido desviados de tus caminos;
19 Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.
Para que nos hayas dejado ser aplastados en lugares de miseria, y nos cubrieras con la sombra de muerte.
20 If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,
Si el nombre de nuestro Dios ha salido de nuestra mente, o si nuestras manos han sido extendidas a un dios extraño,
21 Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.
¿No demandaria Dios esto? porque él ve los secretos del corazón.
22 Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
En verdad, por tu causa somos muertos todos los días; somos contados como ovejas para la destrucción.
23 Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.
¿Por qué duermes, oh Señor? ¡despierta! y ven en nuestra ayuda, no te alejes para siempre.
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?
¿Por qué escondes tu rostro, y por qué no piensas en nuestros problemas y nuestro cruel destino?
25 For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.
Porque nuestras almas son agobiadas hasta el polvo; arrastrando nuestros cuerpos sobre la tierra.
26 Rise vp for our succour, and redeeme vs for thy mercies sake.
¡Levántate! y ven en nuestra ayuda, y danos la salvación por tu misericordia.
