Psalms 44
1 To him that excelleth. A Psalme to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. We haue heard with our eares, O God: our fathers haue tolde vs the workes, that thou hast done in their dayes, in the olde time:
Dem Vorsänger. Eine Unterweisung von den Kindern Korahs. O Gott, mit unsern eigenen Ohren haben wir es gehört, unsre Väter haben es uns erzählt, was du für Taten getan hast zu ihrer Zeit, in den Tagen der Vorzeit!
2 Howe thou hast driuen out the heathen with thine hand, and planted them: how thou hast destroyed the people, and caused them to grow.
Du hast mit deiner Hand die Heiden vertrieben, sie aber gepflanzt; du hast Völker zerschmettert, sie aber ausgebreitet.
3 For they inherited not the lande by their owne sworde, neither did their owne arme saue them: but thy right hand, and thine arme and the light of thy countenance, because thou didest fauour them.
Denn nicht mit ihrem Schwert haben sie das Land gewonnen; und ihr Arm hat ihnen nicht geholfen, sondern deine rechte Hand und dein Arm und das Licht deines Angesichts; denn du hattest Wohlgefallen an ihnen.
4 Thou art my King, O God: send helpe vnto Iaakob.
Du bist derselbe, mein König, o Gott; verordne Jakobs Heil!
5 Through thee haue we thrust backe our aduersaries: by thy Name haue we troden downe them that rose vp against vs.
Durch dich wollen wir unsre Feinde niederstoßen; in deinem Namen wollen wir unsre Widersacher zertreten.
6 For I do not trust in my bowe, neither can my sworde saue me.
Denn ich verlasse mich nicht auf meinen Bogen, und mein Schwert kann mir nicht helfen;
7 But thou hast saued vs from our aduersaries, and hast put them to confusion that hate vs.
sondern du hast uns geholfen vor unsern Feinden und hast zuschanden gemacht, die uns hassen.
8 Therefore will wee praise God continually, and will confesse thy Name for euer. (Selah)
Gottes rühmen wir uns alle Tage, und deinen Namen loben wir ewig. (Pause)
9 But now thou art farre off, and puttest vs to confusion, and goest not forth with our armies.
Und doch hast du uns verworfen und zuschanden werden lassen und bist nicht ausgezogen mit unsern Heerscharen.
10 Thou makest vs to turne backe from the aduersary, and they, which hate vs, spoile for theselues.
Du ließest uns zurückweichen vor dem Feind; und die uns hassen, haben sich Beute gemacht.
11 Thou giuest vs as sheepe to bee eaten, and doest scatter vs among the nations.
Du gibst uns hin wie Schafe zum Fraße und zerstreust uns unter die Heiden.
12 Thou sellest thy people without gaine, and doest not increase their price.
Du verkaufst dein Volk um ein Spottgeld und verlangst nicht viel dafür!
13 Thou makest vs a reproche to our neighbours, a iest and a laughing stocke to them that are round about vs.
Du setzest uns der Beschimpfung unserer Nachbarn aus, dem Hohn und Spott derer, die uns umgeben.
14 Thou makest vs a prouerbe among the nations, and a nodding of the head among the people.
Du machst uns zum Sprichwort unter den Heiden, daß die Völker den Kopf über uns schütteln.
15 My confusion is dayly before me, and the shame of my face hath couered me,
Alle Tage ist meine Schmach vor mir, und Scham bedeckt mein Angesicht
16 For the voyce of the slaunderer and rebuker, for the enemie and auenger.
wegen der Stimme des Spötters und Lästerers, wegen des Feindes, des Rachgierigen.
17 All this is come vpon vs, yet doe wee not forget thee, neither deale wee falsly concerning thy couenant.
Dieses alles ist über uns gekommen; und doch haben wir deiner nicht vergessen, noch deinen Bund gebrochen.
18 Our heart is not turned backe: neither our steps gone out of thy paths,
Unser Herz hat sich nicht zurückgewandt, noch sind unsre Schritte abgewichen von deinem Pfad,
19 Albeit thou hast smitten vs downe into the place of dragons, and couered vs with the shadow of death.
daß du uns zermalmtest am Orte der Schakale und uns mit Todesschatten bedecktest!
20 If wee haue forgotten the Name of our God, and holden vp our hands to a strange god,
Wenn wir des Namens unsres Gottes vergessen und unsre Hände zu einem fremden Gott ausgestreckt hätten,
21 Shall not God searche this out? for hee knoweth the secrets of the heart.
würde Gott das nicht erforschen? Er kennt ja die Geheimnisse des Herzens.
22 Surely for thy sake are we slaine continually, and are counted as sheepe for the slaughter.
So aber werden wir um deinetwillen alle Tage erwürgt und sind geachtet wie Schlachtschafe.
23 Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer.
Herr, erhebe dich! Warum schläfst du? Wache auf und verstoße uns nicht für immer!
24 Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?
Warum verbirgst du dein Angesicht und vergissest unsres Elendes und unsrer Bedrängnis?
25 For our soule is beaten downe vnto the dust: our belly cleaueth vnto the ground.
Denn unsre Seele ist bis zum Staub gebeugt, und unser Leib klebt am Erdboden.
26 Rise vp for our succour, and redeeme vs for thy mercies sake.
Mache dich auf, uns zu helfen, und erlöse uns um deiner Gnade willen!
