Psalms 34

1 A Psalme of Dauid, when he changed his behauiour before Abimelech, who droue him away, and he departed. I will alway giue thankes vnto the Lord: his praise shalbe in my mouth continually.

Di Davide, quando si finse pazzo in presenza di Abimelech e, da lui scacciato, se ne andò. Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo, sulla mia bocca sempre la sua lode.

2 My soule shall glory in the Lord: the humble shall heare it, and be glad.

Io mi glorio nel Signore, ascoltino gli umili e si rallegrino.

3 Praise ye the Lord with me, and let vs magnifie his Name together.

Celebrate con me il Signore, esaltiamo insieme il suo nome.

4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me: yea, he deliuered me out of all my feare.

Ho cercato il Signore e mi ha risposto e da ogni timore mi ha liberato.

5 They shall looke vnto him, and runne to him: and their faces shall not be ashamed, saying,

Guardate a lui e sarete raggianti, non saranno confusi i vostri volti.

6 This poore man cryed, and the Lord heard him, and saued him out of all his troubles.

Questo povero grida e il Signore lo ascolta, lo libera da tutte le sue angosce.

7 The Angel of the Lord pitcheth round about them, that feare him, and deliuereth them.

L'angelo del Signore si accampa attorno a quelli che lo temono e li salva.

8 Taste ye and see, howe gratious the Lord is: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Gustate e vedete quanto è buono il Signore; beato l'uomo che in lui si rifugia.

9 Feare the Lord, ye his Saintes: for nothing wanteth to them that feare him.

Temete il Signore, suoi santi, nulla manca a coloro che lo temono.

10 The lyons doe lacke and suffer hunger, but they, which seeke the Lord, shall want nothing that is good.

I ricchi impoveriscono e hanno fame, ma chi cerca il Signore non manca di nulla.

11 Come children, hearken vnto me: I will teache you the feare of the Lord.

Venite, figli, ascoltatemi; v'insegnerò il timore del Signore.

12 What man is he, that desireth life, and loueth long dayes for to see good?

C'è qualcuno che desidera la vita e brama lunghi giorni per gustare il bene?

13 Keepe thy tongue from euill, and thy lips, that they speake no guile.

Preserva la lingua dal male, le labbra da parole bugiarde.

14 Eschewe euill and doe good: seeke peace and follow after it.

Stà lontano dal male e fà il bene, cerca la pace e perseguila.

15 The eyes of the Lord are vpon the righteous, and his eares are open vnto their crie.

Gli occhi del Signore sui giusti, i suoi orecchi al loro grido di aiuto.

16 But the face of the Lord is against them that doe euill, to cut off their remembrance from the earth.

Il volto del Signore contro i malfattori, per cancellarne dalla terra il ricordo.

17 The righteous crie, and the Lord heareth them, and deliuereth them out of all their troubles.

Gridano e il Signore li ascolta, li salva da tutte le loro angosce.

18 The Lord is neere vnto them that are of a contrite heart, and will saue such as be afflicted in Spirite.

Il Signore è vicino a chi ha il cuore ferito, egli salva gli spiriti affranti.

19 Great are the troubles of the righteous: but the Lord deliuereth him out of them all.

Molte sono le sventure del giusto, ma lo libera da tutte il Signore.

20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

Preserva tutte le sue ossa, neppure uno sarà spezzato.

21 But malice shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous, shall perish.

La malizia uccide l'empio e chi odia il giusto sarà punito.

22 The Lord redeemeth the soules of his seruants: and none, that trust in him, shall perish.

Il Signore riscatta la vita dei suoi servi, chi in lui si rifugia non sarà condannato.
