Psalms 33
1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it becommeth vpright men to be thankefull.
Esultate, giusti, nel Signore; ai retti si addice la lode.
2 Prayse the Lord with harpe: sing vnto him with viole and instrument of ten strings.
Lodate il Signore con la cetra, con l'arpa a dieci corde a lui cantate.
3 Sing vnto him a newe song: sing cheerefully with a loude voyce.
Cantate al Signore un canto nuovo, suonate la cetra con arte e acclamate.
4 For the word of the Lord is righteous, and all his workes are faithfull.
Poiché retta è la parola del Signore e fedele ogni sua opera.
5 He loueth righteousnesse and iudgement: the earth is full of the goodnesse of the Lord.
Egli ama il diritto e la giustizia, della sua grazia è piena la terra.
6 By the worde of the Lord were the heauens made, and all the hoste of them by the breath of his mouth.
Dalla parola del Signore furono fatti i cieli, dal soffio della sua bocca ogni loro schiera.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as vpon an heape, and layeth vp the depths in his treasures.
Come in un otre raccoglie le acque del mare, chiude in riserve gli abissi.
8 Let all the earth feare the Lord: let al them that dwell in the world, feare him.
Tema il Signore tutta la terra, tremino davanti a lui gli abitanti del mondo,
9 For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it stood.
perché egli parla e tutto è fatto, comanda e tutto esiste.
10 The Lord breaketh the counsell of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the deuices of the people.
Il Signore annulla i disegni delle nazioni, rende vani i progetti dei popoli.
11 The counsell of the Lord shall stand for euer, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.
Ma il piano del Signore sussiste per sempre, i pensieri del suo cuore per tutte le generazioni.
12 Blessed is that nation, whose God is the Lord: euen the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.
Beata la nazione il cui Dio è il Signore, il popolo che si è scelto come erede.
13 The Lord looketh downe from heauen, and beholdeth all the children of men.
Il Signore guarda dal cielo, egli vede tutti gli uomini.
14 From the habitation of his dwelling he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.
Dal luogo della sua dimora scruta tutti gli abitanti della terra,
15 He facioneth their hearts euery one, and vnderstandeth all their workes.
lui che, solo, ha plasmato il loro cuore e comprende tutte le loro opere.
16 The King is not saued by the multitude of an hoste, neither is the mightie man deliuered by great strength.
Il re non si salva per un forte esercito né il prode per il suo grande vigore.
17 A horse is a vaine helpe, and shall not deliuer any by his great strength.
Il cavallo non giova per la vittoria, con tutta la sua forza non potrà salvare.
18 Beholde, the eye of the Lord is vpon them that feare him, and vpon them, that trust in his mercie,
Ecco, l'occhio del Signore veglia su chi lo teme, su chi spera nella sua grazia,
19 To deliuer their soules from death, and to preserue them in famine.
per liberarlo dalla morte e nutrirlo in tempo di fame.
20 Our soule waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helpe and our shielde.
L'anima nostra attende il Signore, egli è nostro aiuto e nostro scudo.
21 Surely our heart shall reioyce in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.
In lui gioisce il nostro cuore e confidiamo nel suo santo nome.
22 Let thy mercie, O Lord, be vpon vs, as we trust in thee.
Signore, sia su di noi la tua grazia, perché in te speriamo.
