Psalms 33
1 Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it becommeth vpright men to be thankefull.
Justes, chantez l'Éternel! la louange sied aux hommes droits.
2 Prayse the Lord with harpe: sing vnto him with viole and instrument of ten strings.
Célébrez l'Éternel avec la harpe, touchez pour lui le luth à dix cordes!
3 Sing vnto him a newe song: sing cheerefully with a loude voyce.
Chantez-lui un cantique nouveau, joignez vos plus beaux accords au son des trompettes!
4 For the word of the Lord is righteous, and all his workes are faithfull.
Car la parole de l'Éternel est juste, et toute son action fidèle;
5 He loueth righteousnesse and iudgement: the earth is full of the goodnesse of the Lord.
Il aime le droit et la justice; de la grâce de l'Éternel la terre est remplie.
6 By the worde of the Lord were the heauens made, and all the hoste of them by the breath of his mouth.
Par la parole de l'Éternel les Cieux ont été faits, et par le souffle de sa bouche toute leur armée.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as vpon an heape, and layeth vp the depths in his treasures.
Il rassemble en une masse les eaux de la mer, et dépose ses flots dans des réservoirs.
8 Let all the earth feare the Lord: let al them that dwell in the world, feare him.
Que toute la terre craigne l'Éternel! Que tous les habitants du monde le révèrent!
9 For he spake, and it was done: he commanded, and it stood.
Car Il parle, et la chose est, Il commande, et elle existe.
10 The Lord breaketh the counsell of the heathen, and bringeth to nought the deuices of the people.
L'Éternel rompt les conseils des nations, Il déjoue les pensées des peuples.
11 The counsell of the Lord shall stand for euer, and the thoughts of his heart throughout all ages.
Les décrets de l'Éternel subsistent à jamais, et les pensées de son cœur demeurent dans tous les âges.
12 Blessed is that nation, whose God is the Lord: euen the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance.
Heureuse la nation dont l'Éternel est le Dieu, le peuple qu'il choisit pour son héritage!
13 The Lord looketh downe from heauen, and beholdeth all the children of men.
Des Cieux l'Éternel regarde, Il voit tous les enfants des hommes.
14 From the habitation of his dwelling he beholdeth all them that dwell in the earth.
De sa résidence Il observe tous les habitants de la terre,
15 He facioneth their hearts euery one, and vnderstandeth all their workes.
lui qui, en même temps, forme le cœur de tous, et qui est attentif à toutes leurs œuvres.
16 The King is not saued by the multitude of an hoste, neither is the mightie man deliuered by great strength.
Nul roi ne triomphe par la grandeur de sa puissance, nul héros n'est sauvé par la grandeur de sa force;
17 A horse is a vaine helpe, and shall not deliuer any by his great strength.
le cheval n'est rien pour la victoire, et par la grandeur de ses moyens il ne fait pas échapper.
18 Beholde, the eye of the Lord is vpon them that feare him, and vpon them, that trust in his mercie,
Voici, l'Éternel a l'œil sur ses fidèles qui espèrent dans sa grâce,
19 To deliuer their soules from death, and to preserue them in famine.
pour arracher leur âme à la mort, et les faire vivre durant la famine.
20 Our soule waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helpe and our shielde.
Notre âme espère dans l'Éternel, Il est notre aide et notre bouclier.
21 Surely our heart shall reioyce in him, because we trusted in his holy Name.
Car Il ravit notre cœur, parce qu'en son saint nom nous avons confiance.
22 Let thy mercie, O Lord, be vpon vs, as we trust in thee.
Que ta grâce, Éternel, soit sur nous, comme nous l'attendons de toi!
